No it screams seller pinched the photos from Ali-Ex . Those necks are sold by the wangguitar 1980 store , their eBay shop was "jinwan" . I have a few necks from them , also I've spotted quite a few used them in TalkBass build diaries. Decision to go with wangguitar was simple economics . Material for a neck ( maple/fretwire/TR/fretboard etc) cost between £30 to £40 then there is the time involved ; wangguitar were charging £55 per neck inc delivery . My time is worth a damn sight more than £25 🙂 Before buying a new neck try straightening it under pressure , tools are just 2 cauls , 3 clamps and a straight edge. If you think the neck is arsed then you've nothing to lose 👍

@Jonbob How about a black 6 string for £150 , is that different enough ?
-
Wish I hadn't sold my Wal JG custom , think the s/n was in the 30's had the leather scratchplate. Must be worth a few bob now 😕

Oh no , all credit lies with you ; you're the one who made it happen Paul 😃

That's looking fantastic Paul 🙂

Bass Centre were asking £899 for Tune BM's when they first appeared , back then list price for Thunder III was £369.
-
Pretty sure those have been up for 2 years now 😄 There were 3 versions of the Thunder II , a twin split coil model then a PJ model. In 1983 the Thunder II PJ was renamed the Thunder III and the Thunder II became a medium scale (32") with 2 single coils. Each version also had the option for fretless. I was £300 for this Thunder III back in Feb 2020.

Aye , serious bits of kit but 2-3 times the price. Centred on the same spot as 51 single coil P-basses .

Already noted.

Thanks. It's not a true slab body , there's both forearm and belly cuts 👍
-
Bloody hell where does the time go !! Cheers , nobody ever uses my middle name 😃

Nearly 2 years passed without buying a bass yet the last 7 weeks has saw me buy 3 😮 Dipped a toe in the multi scale pond with a RedSub 5'er , ticked the Epiphone Embassy off my list today 🙂 This brings me to this one , bit of a dilemma here. I've a thing for slab body P-basses and planned on building another 3 this year. One of those would steal the ESP Horizon single coil look 😃 I loathe doing binding so was pleasantly surprised to spot this , G4M LA Select Denim burst. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/LA-Select-Bass-Guitar-by-Gear4music-Denim-Burst/3L4K Note, whoever wrote the sales blurb needs a good hiding ; the world can do without their BS. Did a pre-order last week and after a few days shipment delay it was dropped off on Wednesday🙂 First impressions are it's nicely done and nicely set up 👍Strings need changed , not a fan of roundwounds. £160 well spent 😃 Lighter band is a reflection of the wall units 🙄

Do they normally have CTS pots ? If they do then the CTS factory in Taiwan must have had supply issues, mine has a volume pot from Jin Sung in Korea and a Korean Alpha tone pot.

As of 12:35 today I am now an Epiphone Embassy owner 🙂 Sadly shifts spent clambering up and down scaffolding leave me a bit knackered these days so all you folks will get is a photo. Well a photo and a promise , those bloody roundwound strings are coming off ASAP 😄

I wouldn't go as far as "awful" but definitely lacking 🙂 Might be a change of supplier but when I A/B'd a mate's standard PB-20 against the stealth black PB-20 ,the standard was a much livelier louder bass 👍 Great idea , surprisingly affordable option too 👍
-
For me ; it better not be the early stages of getting another in gold , only 1 hour passed since I pressed buy it now 🤣
-
In stock at GAK. @Stub Mandrel I am now down £335 , hope you're proud of yourself 😉

Not the 5 string but the 4 string model. I'm going back 7 years so there may have been changes. Don't recall any major issues, bridge was easy to intonate the strings / tuners held / fairly light / no fret problems. Finish was nice 🙂 Scratchplate is horrible but the "tort" was just a film , underneath it is white. Stock strings were not that great , no biggie as you'll no doubt change them right away 👍 Pickups , though not spectacular, do the job. The jazz bass VVT set up gives the usual volume drop when both volumes are up full , not a fault with the bass ; it's just the way jazz basses work. I would let any of that concern you , not with Thomann's return policy 🙂

You are a very bad man 😛

That be the Sarzo s/n , 0407 dates to late 1989. C-4 and C-5 didn't go on sale until 1999.
-
It's scratchplate mounted. Thread 2 screws through the face of the scratchplate, springs go on the screws which in turn thread through the pickup holes.

Answered a "wanted" ad of Paul's regarding a Renegade bass. Sent a couple of photos , answered a couple of questions and the deal was done 🙂 Everything the folk above are saying is true , Paul is great guy and a pleasure to do business with 👍

Thanks @Paul S , much appreciated 🙂

Had a great start to 2022 and it's all thanks to Steve . He was having a clear out , one of the things to go was a PB-50 project. Knowing I have a thing for PB-50s he got in touch asking if I was interested 🙂 Too right I was interested 😃 Asking for only the postage cost the worthy gent boxed it up and sent it to Scotland 😎 I'll be naming this build "Jonesy" 👍
