3.
You're taking the piss right? How on earth in living in Leam for the last 20 years, and only running down here to Pompy 3 weeks ago did I miss this company? I thought Regent was the only one in Leam (barring that new one on the same road that opened earlier this year) Got a store front by anychance or are you purely mail only?
I do not have a store (American?) shop as such, however I have a demo room and if you are interested in trying any basses, cabs etc out. Call, PM or email me and we can make an appointment. I hope that helps. Regards Mark
 4. Did you find us yet PM me if there is anything I can help you with. regards Mark
 5. Hi All Just to let you know that I have the first shipment of Wood&Tronics basses coming in. I will have them at Music Live if you would like to have a look/play More info here - http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...%26T_Stock.html Mark
 6. It' all about the string spacing really - Warwick use 17mm on many of there basses, which makes it tight for pulling on the strings IMO. Look for wider string spacing to make it easier for you - however each player will have his own preferences, many top end companies offer custom string spacing, but 18/19 on a six will be more comfortable for slap but as already said will make for a wider neck, however if you get one with a slim profile this will counter balance this. Your best option is to try as many 6'ers as poss TBH. Mark

 10.
I hear there is a celebrity helping you at the NEC show in November?
Oh really? Who might that be then?? Oh yes - Ped it going to be on the Bass Direct stand on the Saturday (3rd Nov) giving me a hand, what a star Come along and say hello (it is his Birthday on the Monday so presents are welcome )
 11. Newsflash Bass Direct are now the UKs official Bergantino dealer - we should be receiving these awesome cabs in the next few weeks and hopefully will have some on display at Music Live at the NEC 2/3/4 November. Mark
 12.
That Green Nordy Vj5 with the maple neck is stunning. I've seen a few pics of them in the past and must admit I've had a hankering for them for a while.
Agreed! That is not one of mine unfortunately, I will post up some of the new basses that have some awesome colours. I played it safe with the first few Nordys, but am keen to get someone to order one with the funky colours on, I may end up ordering a couple on spec If you can make it to the show I think you will be blown away by the Nordys. I have a range of the pickups in this first batch as well, the White Vj5 will have the Big Singles in which are superb and give a massive Old School vibe, but are much bigger sounding than the original single coils in J basses. Mark
 13.
Any chance of some decently priced MusicMan gear to continue with the American high quality theme? As a sort of 'lower higher end' option. =]
Well - I am looking into expanding the range into the £1000 - £1500 range. To be honest there are too many shops doing the MM stuff and the prices are fixed by the importers! I will hopefully be getting some basses in that range soon, they may actually come from a couple of the companies I am already dealing with! The basses I am stocking are literally hand made and although not "cheap", represent far better value for money than many of the "branded" basses I have seen and played over the years for similar money Keep an eye on the site for new stuff - I will post on here when I get any confrmed news. If you have any specific requirements for a bass shoot me a PM and I will see what I can do. PS - If you want your MM sooped up a bit - try one of our Nordstrand Pickups in it, it'll be like a new bass Regards Mark
 14. Just to let you all know - I will have a stand at Music Live on the 2/3/4 November this year. I will have some Wood and Tronics basses, some Nordstrand Basses, a couple of Roscoes and hopefully at least one Skjold. If you want to come say hello I will be on stand AG4 - all basschatters are more than welcome I will have a couple of PJB amps to play through and some headphones if when get shut down Regards Mark
 15. Wow - looking really good, those pups are wicked, I hope they sound as good as they look. Alex - you are going to be one happy chappy when you get hold of this bass!! Good work
 16.
Then that's what I'm going to say. To whom, I'm not sure. Two-ten, four-ten, one-fifteen. Peh-dulla Skyold Eye-ben-ez Beh-rin-jer Eh-piff-ani A-lem-bik Ag-wee-lar (maybe ag-yoo-lar?)
I would agree with all of the above except it is "Shold"
 17.
Exactly - it's an Italian name, like Bergantino - stress on the penultimate syllable. Is Aguilar pronounced the Spanish way or anglicised? And Alembic is a.LEM-bik, I believe. How do you say Skjold? Alex
Skjold = Shold - like shoulder without the er. Neodymium is one that took me ages to grasp. Neo-dim-e-um Warwick = wo-rick. Americans just insist on pronouncing it War-wick! Here is a company I will dealing with as their UK agent, any ideas? "Jerzy Drozd" Regards Mark
 18.
2112 Exit Stage Left
+ 1 - my fave album and IMO Rush at the height of their fame. I am a secret drummer and that album is just awsome to play along to! I am off to see them on the 12th at the NEC - last time was on the Bones album tour. The reviews I have read so far look good - look out for plenty of air drumming and air guitar....
 19.
I might start a thread on large breasts then, if thats OK. Should bring up some useful links.
Now that's funny
 20. The Briefcase is an excellent product - however IMO it has been replaced by the NEW Flight Case which is a bit more expensive and a bit bigger, BUT is lighter and more powerful than the Briefcase and sounds very impressive for its size! It sort of wedges in between the Briefcase and Suitcase being single channel but with 4 x neodymium speakers (2 upward firing) and 150w with no external speaker connection. Mark
 21. Tony I had SSII for several years - it was an early ninties model and was excellent. It was heavy at 12lb but had a great neck that is narrow spacing (17mm at the bridge) and tight spacing at the nut (the same as a Thumb 5). Great sound though IMO you need to find an older model as I went into Sound Control recently and tried a new one and it was like a different bass! Mark
 22.
Saw them on the 5th at the NIA and thought they were great. I've been a fan of the band for a long time though so hearing the songs live for the first time was great. I was more impressed than I was expecting to be and thought the musicianship all round was excellent, Copeland in particular. It also seemed like Sting is enjoying being a bass player again. It was definitely a performance and not a recital though. There were a few (minor) flubs in places and on more than one or two songs they went off on new tangeants that occasionally made you wonder how they were going to get back into the song again, but get back in they did. Even though they've played pretty much the same set at most of the gigs on the tour I didn't feel like they were just going through the motions, there was an edginess and tension between the three of them (in a musical sense) which made it for me. Mix was great where I was sat, at least it was once they got a few numbers into it (guitar was too quiet early doors). It was funny watching Stewart Copeland during the more free-form parts of the set as his facial expressions made it look as though he was falling in and out of love with Sting depending on his like or dislike of whatever groove Sting was cooking up. Sting was a very good frontman, but more often than not I found myself watching (and listening most intently too) Copeland. We should all be allowed to play with as talented and uncliche a drummer as he is at some point during our bass playing lives. My guitarist buddy also was disappointed with Andy Summers, though personally I thought he was choice. I think he didn't play single thing that was obvious and that there was much humour in his solos. He's released 12 albums and toured consistently since the Police broke up so it isn't that he is out of practice. By all accounts he is a better guitarist now than he was when they broke up, though of course I suppose that's a subjective thing and I'm guessing that people being disappointed by his playing is a result of their preconceptions of how he would play rather than a lack of ability/preparedness on his part. I'm normally a hater of guitar solos but enjoyed watching and listening to his. I will grant that he did look like he was going to suffer a stroke all through the set.
Yep that is my take - I loved watching Copeland live, he was very imressive IMO. Summer's solos were on a hogher plane that in the old days too IMO. Sting is a verystrong personality at the front with his sharp vocals and stage presence. Not the same energy as some of the 80s performances, but bery musical and powerful. M
 23.
Also The Jimi Hendrix Experience, ZZ Top, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble…….. Emerson Lake & Palmer……(OK, maybe not). Cream has to top the list tho’ It’s a great format when it works, and many times I’ve wished I could sing when looking for vocalists for bands. Back to the Police – is it all the hits, or any new stuff?
We had this conversation at the gig, and yes Cream was mentioned - I was thinking more about 70s/80s bands though, but point taken It was a superb selection of their back catalogue - and the presentation and arrangements were top notch. It must be great for them to have come back after such a loing time as they must really notice the difference with all the modern sound lighting, in ear monitoring, led sreens and lighting etc. They really looked like they were enjoying too, and Stingg said at the end that they would be back? I wonder what he meant, new album or just another reunion tour!?!?!?!?!?!
 24.
Err..... Ever heard of Cream?
Cheeky!
 25.
yeah the police were outside our house yesterday checking out a toyota celica. Oh right you mean THAT police? haha wow cool. I think they are a really gr8 band and its's good to see they've reformed.
Yep - I told my mum that I had seen the Police the night before - the phone went quiet............ I cannot tell you how good they were!
