1. A clone kit would cost how much? Yeah, I'd rather not. I'd rather get a clone and cover it in shagpile.
2. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-built-34-scale-electric-upright-bass-/171787478873?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27ff54e759 I'm starting to lose faith in humanity one custom bass at a time.
3. I know plenty of singers and drummers like that. I'm still trying to find their communal brain cell!
4. At that price, have you considered the TalkBass and such too? I know the exchange rate is less than desirable but it's a potential avenue, nonetheless.
5. This is definitely worthy of the BassChat's Old Gits Club right now!
6. This pleases me a lot! I didn't think anyone else drew inspiration from trombone or tubas!
7. 1987 Ibanez SR800 (MIJ) Dire financial circumstances force the sale. Originally recieved this as a present of some sentimental value (hence the scathed back) and I've priced this to condition. Comes with the Bartolini's and would probably make an excellent project fretless bass with some serious build quality. Please feel free to privately message me for any queries you may well have.
8. As the title says and no doubt implies - you've got one bass to last to you until the end of eternity on a desert island. What would be the one you would choose? It can be any one bass. I'll take my Bongo, surprise surprise.
9. It doesn't how they are, always take any opportunity you can to go and play with other musicians. A blues band gig? Take it! Jazz Jam? Go have a drink and meet up with folks there. You know how it goes!
10. Don't worry about the confidence. I had the potential to go completely professional but I doubted myself way too much in order to go ahead with it - don't make the same mistake I did. However, I've got the right routine to consistently and efficiently improve my chops, groove and everything else. You're more than welcome to drop me a message and I'd be happy to help out. I'd honestly recommend learning how to play on a Jazz jam and how to sight-read. There's plenty of pros here, nonetheless.
11. Considering that the bass is originally a rhythmic instrument, could one learn from a drummer's fills for us expand upon our own types of fills? Anyone else had something from this school of thought at all? How about instruments in the same register? I wondered how us bassists could learn from other instruments such as trombone or tuba. Just all thoughts!

13. Testimonial incoming. Had a few lessons with FlippyFloop and was absolutely fantastic. Demystifies even the most difficult things and makes them seem a lot more attainable rather than leaving them dormant to the realm of 'maybe someday'. Would definitely recommend!
14. https://www.youtube....h?v=fEHr08nrVl4 2:25 It's moments like these that make up for it, though.
15. I got put off playing live for about a year after I had a particularly nasty incident. Bearing in mind I've got Aspergers, read on. Drunk moron comes up to me and the other guitarist and begins to talk to the both of us. "Mate, thhatttss some great playing like. Really rocking it" he says in a drunken slur to the guitarist. He turns to me randomly and says "You look like a f***** spacker. Who lets a retard like you out?" In hindsight, it was a bit silly but that was ridiculous.
16.
Before the OP does anything with the bass, I think every avenue should be exhausted first. From what has been posted here, I think we're a bit sort of that yet.
This! Is there no other avenue regarding contacting the owner? Via Facebook or something?
17. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dick-Duerrstein-Original-Hand-Painted-Dean-Bass-Guitar-Incredible-Hulk-NIB-/251967613500?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3aaa70aa3c
18. I had a bit of an odd revelation. I went to a small Jazz school meeting and the other bassist had a J bass. It sounded weedy and thin on it's own but was just about right in on the mix. How peculiar...
19.
As I understand it Bubinga5 collected a bass from the seller on behalf of the purchaser who has never shown up to collect the bass
That makes much more sense. It's going to be a decent bass at least, right?
20. Too bad this isn't in the south, otherwise, I'd be all over this!
21. Wait, this is kind of going over my head a little. You've bought a bass from a guy and it's taking up too much room?
