Hello there all, The Bat Bass is indeed mine - I've listed it on here too - eBay removed the listing because Fender complained it was counterfeit. Hopefully I've remedied that now, along with ensuring that he is now comfortable with his sexuality now Bassassin. It's always struck me as a great way to personalise a bass, but appreciate it may not be to everyone's taste . . .

Thanks all - it's becoming a labour of love & I've got a few ideas for different themes - but suggestions are always welcome! Fretmeister - the scratchplate was CNC routed - I'm a graphic designer by trade so it seemed an obvious thing to do. Funny you ask, because I'm in the process of launching a service offering this very thing - bespoke routed scratchplates - but it's currently still in test stage but I hope to be able to offer them in the next month or so, alongside a very different but perhaps visually more impressive process. Exciting times! Mods - I don't know if the above para is forbidden or not. If it is, I am sorry & please delete. If it's ok, then may I shall SHOUT: EXCITING NEW SCRATCHPLATES COMING SOON! Sorry, couldn't resist! Thanks again all, Tim.

Karlfer - nice to hear from you - that EQ pedal has done wonders for Mrs TimAl's loathing of bass through the kitchen ceiling during practice! Commissions are possible - but really I see it as an 'ad hoc' thing - whenever I come across a bass that is suitable AND reasonably priced I'll go to town - I think a Viz one would be rather cool, plus perhaps some brand of strong alcoholic beverage - but early days. Agreed about paper bag, may have to rethink headstock logo & change it to 'Faker' . . .

Hello there all, I started a thread yesterday about my Bat Bass on this hallowed forum in the Basses section - but because I mentioned it was going up for sale the thread was removed, then subsequently edited & relisted by the mods because it was viewed as too much of a sales pitch - so I'm listing it here to gauge any interest . . . This is a truly unique bass built by myself as I've always liked the idea of decoupaging an old Batman comic onto a bass, & this one is a genuine 1971 comic. In a nutshell, the process involves cutting out the comic & sticking it all over the body with PVA glue & then spraying clear lacquer over the top to give protection. I also commissioned a unique engraved scratchplate plus a bespoke headstock decal that's also lacquered & looks quite the part! This Bat Bass uses a Squier body & all electrics (bought from Mark_88MPH on this very forum) with a non-branded relic'd maple neck with truss road adjustment from the heel. This is NOT a new bass & it was finished by hand so it does have some marks to it, along with the odd crease where the comic has been wrapped & stuck to the edges of the body - which is only natural! - but nothing at all that affects its playability! I'm sure this would not be your 'go to' bass but it certainly works & sounds like a P should! In my own little world I've listed how much I believe this bass is worth to me - but I am open to serious offers. I would positively encourage you to come & visit to see him in the flesh, so to speak, to make sure you're totally happy with him before parting with any lolly. I'm just outside Bedford & work from home, so am pretty flexible with timings. If that's not possible for you I'm more than happy to securely bubble wrap & box up if you wish to arrange your own courier. Payment by PayPal 'Gift', bank transfer, or good ole fashioned cash in hand - plus no trades, swaps or magic beans please. All comments - both positive & negative - are most welcome. Cheers Tim

Thanks all, I too have seen the Burns & Silvertone similarities but couldn't come to a definitive conclusion, so your information is really very helpful. Would it be fair to say it dates from the 70s then? I haven't got any sound clips at the mo & I'm moving house next week & I'd definitely be in the dog house if Mrs TimAl sees me 'mucking about' instead of packing - but I'll get something posted as soon as I can. I do have far too many basses & this one could very well be up for sale soon - so thank you kindly Jon for the link Once again, thanks for your invaluable contributions, T.

Hello there all, I recently picked this up & wondered if any of you would be able to identify it. It's 3/4 size & appears completely unbranded. Surprisingly, to me, it sounds really great when plugged it with quite a range of tones. Many thanks Tim

Bought an EQ pedal from Karl & thoroughly delighted! Arrived when promised & even packaged to throw Mrs TimAl off the scent - marvellous! Thanks Karl! Tim

SOLD SOLD SOLD! Hope you'll be very happy binky_bass. A Marlin eh, thanks for that. That Ritter is indeed amazing - I did think when doing mine (well, binky_bass is the owner now, officially!) that I could do a printed vinyl wrap - but I preferred the idea of old school yellowed newsprint as the main 'pattern' plus the obvious edges of each indivdually glued piece - certainly gives it a far more aged & 'used' look. What's next I wonder? Not sure if it's in good taste but I really like the sound of an old black & white Page 3 bass with a F****r Porno Bass headstock . . .

binky_bass - PM'd - Kappow! Thanks all for your comments. Marc_S - it's permanent. Comic cut up into bitesize pieces & glued on to the body, the glossy shiny bits you can see are the comic masthead & images from the glossy front cover, all the rest is newsprint so much more subdued. Once all that was dry I then lacquered & polished, to make it knock & sweat resistant! Headstock is your 'normal' waterslide decal process, but with a bit of artistic licence on the wording Cheers all T
