  1. binky_bass - PM'd - Kappow! Thanks all for your comments. Marc_S - it's permanent. Comic cut up into bitesize pieces & glued on to the body, the glossy shiny bits you can see are the comic masthead & images from the glossy front cover, all the rest is newsprint so much more subdued. Once all that was dry I then lacquered & polished, to make it knock & sweat resistant! Headstock is your 'normal' waterslide decal process, but with a bit of artistic licence on the wording Cheers all T
  2. Hello there fellow bassers, I've lurked around this hallowed forum for quite a while now, never posting really but I have bought a couple of beautiful things from you guys. This is more of a feeler than anything else really - as it's not an original Fender, I suspect it'll have limited appeal as a 'player' on here, but visually it's rather fine indeed, if you're in to that sort of thing. I'm expecting some negative as well as positive comments but I would really welcome your thoughts on this unique bass. I have a few ideas on evolving this style of finish, but wondered if you have anything to add to the pot? Although playing fine, this bass came to me as a visual wreck - so I've done something I've always fancied doing & decoupaged an old Batman comic on to a bass. This is - in a nutshell - involves cutting out the comic & sticking it all over the body with PVA glue, then spraying clear lacquer over the top to give protection. I've also generated a bespoke headstock decal & that's also lacquered & looks quite the part. Hard to say who made this bass - obviously it's in the style of a Fender Precision, but with the truss rod adjustable from the neck heel I suspect it's an old Japanese Fender copy - something along the lines of a Hondo. Do any of you have any ideas? The truss rod adjuster is certainly, erm, 'prominent'. Just in case this is anyone's cup of tea, this is NOT a new bass, quite obviously, so it does have some marks to it, along with the odd crease where the comic has been wrapped & stuck to the edges of the body - which is only natural! - but nothing at all that affects its playability. I appreciate it's not an original Fender but it plays great & sounds typically P too - plus it’s got new strings on. Give me a call on 0744 639 44 55 or drop me a line to come & give it a try before you buy - I'm just outside Bedford in MK44 - however if you’re farther afield I’m happy to box up & post by courier to you for an additional £15.00. Payment via cash on collection, or bank transfer or PayPal ‘gift’ if you wish it to be posted. I've priced the Bat Bass at £125.00 as this is what I feel would be a realistic price that I'm happy to let it go for. No trades or magic beans please!
