  1. Bob Marley - Brighton Centre I was a year too young…. And no responsible adult would go with me. He died the year after ☹️
  2. Is it made of tonewood?
  3. Yep I do but it can be tiresome. eBay is my least favourite place to sell anything.
  4. My typical eBay experience is as follows: Fender Precision Bass, Made in Mexico, 1996, Full working order and in excellent condition. No hard case so collection only from Bristol. £450 ono Then wait for questions: Is this a Jazz bass? What make is your bass? Will you post it? Where are you? Is this an American bass? Would you take £80 for it? How old is this bass? Does it work? etc etc
  5. Enjoy the silence - Depeche Mode

  7. Hellhound on my Trail - Robert Johnson

  10. If I had to pick out my 10 favourite albums of all time I would guess at least half of them would be classified as being written by people who weren’t “real” musicians. Totally agree with you. Whatever format helps someone get into music and learn how to write a song is fine. Not everyone can be Jaco or Yngwie Malmsteen. Thankfully.
  11. Closing time - Tom Waits
  12. Broken - Abdominal and the obliques
  13. I have a different perspective than the OP. I enjoy tinkering with basses. Learning new skills is never a waste of time. Personally I buy used parts off eBay, here etc as get better quality for the same price as a kit.

  25. I don’t understand Fenders current strategy. The Squire CV basses I have played are frequently better than the MIM Performer’s. The Vintera, Nate Mendel and Flea MIM basses are excellent, IMO easily as good if not better than many of the USA built Fenders. Fender seem to have lost the plot in terms of price and marketing, which I feel is impacting the used market as MIM basses are still seen as being inferior to the USA models when many lines, the Vintera for example are premium basses. I sold my USA P before the Vintera. They were both good basses but the USA one was just a bit meh, bland with little character whereas the Vintera was a joy, bags of character and sounded fantastic. Edit: I don’t think the old hierarchy of Squire / MIM / MIJ / USA makes any sense anymore. Just buy the one that works for you at the best price. To answer the original question would I buy a 40th Aniversary Squire. No. There are 2 used Vinteras for sale on this forum at bargain prices. I would snap them up.
