  1. I think the important point here is intent to cause harm, which kind of links back to the topic title. If the motive behind a band or song is to explicitly inflict suffering on another sentient being then it becomes problematic. This is why I can’t really forgive Coldplay. Edit: This is humour for those that get off on outrage on the internet and skim read words in order to affirm their own narrative.
  2. Why do people always gravitate to extremes? I know some people that wouldn’t hang out with someone who voted Conservative or has strong Christian beliefs. It takes all sorts to have a cohesive society.
  3. The important thing is to recognise the humanity in others. I know plenty that are so wedded to their own personal crusade that they dismiss others who have a different perspective. Having a different viewpoint or political agenda doesn’t make someone else a monster.
  4. A bigot is someone who is intolerant of another holding a different option. Pretty much the entire planet these days.
  5. Yep that’s where the cultural capital comes in. I know many right on left wingers who are happy to mock the “chavs” and ridicule the “stupid”.
  6. Just popping my Marxist hat on for a moment but whilst the world is caught up in a tribal squabble over sexual, gender, racial and identity politics we forget that the common ground that unites us all is economic opportunity or lack of it. I once worked at a place where CV’s were routinely put in the bin based on the applicatants post codes. One of which was where I grew up. Lacking cultural capital is still sneered at by those that have a decent education and consider themselves “right on”. In short poverty is considered ugly. Financial poverty, poverty of opportunity etc. I think many people experience discrimination on a daily basis from all ethnicities and genders. It’s just hidden and subtle. That’s where the real battle lies.
  7. I’m quite sure the non-bigots of 2022 will be judged on their shortcomings by their more enlightened peers in 2080. History has a way of making buffoons of us all.
  8. To be fair I have no idea what a hoovercraft is. If it suck’s rather than blows the OPs plums are perfectly safe.
  9. Now your just being Xenophobic. Not all Texans own a basement.
  10. Bristol: Massive Attack, Portishead, Idles, Roni Size, Yola, 2/3rds of Banarama. I’m sure there’s loads I’ve left off. Edit: Thanks to contributions will add: The Brilliant corners Claytown Troupe Gary Clail (on-u sound system) Nick Kershaw Wayne Hussey Tricky Roland Orzibal (Tears for Fears) The Pop Group
  11. Seriously everyone put some Reggae on and go and dance in your pants in the rain. This is fecking tedious.
  12. Could someone end this thread and put it out of its misery. I’ve never met the OP but from his posts he doesn’t appear to be a vindictive soul just has a wry sense of humour and doesn’t take life too seriously.
  13. I think the OP was just being tongue in cheek using the farcical litigiousness nature of our US friends as an example of stupidity.
  14. Orange Crush 12 guitar amp. Excellent condition. Barely used. £50 ono
  15. WEM Dominator MK111 valve amp. Wrong forum really but there are some guitarists on here. Vintage 1970s WEM Watkins Dominator MK111 1x15” Speaker Valve Amp Combo. Classic 1970’s valve amp from WEM. Full working order. I have carefully been over the electrics with some contact cleaner and both channels working well. There is still that classic WEM hum, these were never the quietest amps. It would benefit from a professional service. These amps are becoming quite scarce and collectible. I see them occasionally in the £500 to £600 bracket often with ripped cloth or missing trim. This is a complete and tidy example priced to sell at £325. Due to the weight and delicate valves this item is collection only Edit: Before anyone asks I am not Martin Harley. Amp isn’t pinched it was traded for a telecaster!
