  1. When I used to have an office job, many years ago, whereas everyone else had photographs of their children on their desks, I had pictures of my basses. I kinda did it on purpose at first to see if anyone would notice.. but they kinda looked cool, so I left them there.
  2. I approve of this very tidy board! Yeah, really nice!
  3. I use HX Edit so much that I have dedicated cables on and under my desk ready to plug Helix devices in.. I know.. I need to get out more. /geek
  4. Thats brilliant!
  5. Watch the Chernobyl TV mini-series. If you are 40 or over, you will probably recall seeing the news when you were young. You will want to see this series. It is very, very good. Moving and true to the events that shook the day and following years.

Fantastic show, I'm currently on episode four of five and it's superb.

Watching episode 2 now. Its spine chilling!

  6. In similar news, I bought one of those custom 'faux Fender' etched plates for my flip-paint Fender when I upgraded it. I've been thoroughly impressed with the neck plate and it always gets a smile when I show people so I am absolutely sure you'll get the same nods of appreciation with yours Big Stu! *Edit the seller appears to have disappeared from eBay.
  7. It works really well if the tempo is adhered too. The tempo is actually not fast but the 16th note bass pattern gives the illusion of speed overall. I’ve seen bands start waaaay too quickly leaving the bassist struggling to keep up. Try notching it back to say 70bpm-ish to get the sound tight with the band Effects wise I’d reach for my Helix and dial in a sound which will get very close.
  8. They are pretty good actually!! Go for the version 2 if you can as I have seen one or two version 1’s misbehaving - which I think has been down to a ribbon cable issue. YMMV. i would say that for bass though, GM hasn’t had an update in years and thus newer processors (even cheaper in comparison to the new price of a GM2) will probably perform better. I have had a few TC Racks and generally they are very good.
  9. Review the EBS HD360 Anniversary Model Dan? Oh, well go on then!!

I was quite excited when I had the message, rumour has it EBS only made 50 of them

  10. There's a link to my review on the EBS product page: https://ebssweden.com/content2/combos/magni-500-bass-combos/ (Reviews tab). Really liked it!
  11. I have the same stereo "head" Mic used at the start of the video. It is absolutely brilliant for the money.

    EBS Micro Bass 3!

I'm going to ask if I can review it, so hold that thought!
  13. If I recall correctly I did find mine for about £250 as it happens. After extensive testing "sitting-in-chairs-in-all-manner-of-office-outlets" I agree with you. 90% of stock was uncomfortable and thus I went to look for a specialist. I'm not sure what the prices are like for these chairs now, but I do recall the company I used (I found the link: http://executiveofficeseating.co.uk) were super helpful and made sure that I was choosing the right chair, especially regarding the fold away arms. Ahhh yes, back in my IT days I had an orthopaedic chair sourced for me. It was about £800 and that was about ten years ago.
  14. Hi, as I spend a huge amount of time in my studio space I bought a "24 Hour chair" from one of PSI's resellers: https://www.psiseating.co.uk/zircon - It's a "posture" chair designed for long hours use and has certainly helped my lower back pain too. The model I have literally has every adjustment known to musician on it including lumbar support. There's all manner of levers and adjustments too. This thing has probably done about ten odd years service and it looks barely used! Yes, it wasn't cheap, but necessary. It has more than made it's money back. Oh and the best thing is that I ordered mine with arms rests that slide backwards out the way. Proper beefy, non-wobbly arms rests that can be moved back so I can play guitar or bass in a comfortable position and then, when it comes to typing up my magazine reviews (just finished ten thousand words) the rest pop up for maximum comfort.
  15. I have one of these sat on my desk at the moment. I'll be back down in the studio doing more bass reviews this week, so I'll be doing something on the Stomp too. Looking forward to it!
  16. Yay! I was there too Raslee! The TV footage never seemed to do the vibe of the concert justice but it is great that the show was captured for posterity.
  17. One of my all time favourites, but my back disagreed. I gigged one solidly for probably 15 years in a rack set up. Never let me down once. I’d love another but it wouldn’t ever leave the house 😂. I paired mine with non-Ampeg cabs and the whole stack sounded massive.
  18. Oh wait a second!!! I’m on my mobile and didn’t see the headstock logo!! ❤️❤️🤪🤪🤪
  19. Mmmmm maple neck on a TBird!! Very nice!!!!
  20. Yes and whilst you’ll get signal, the reason why I mentioned “preamp” is that the instrument level signal from the chorus pedal might not be “hot” enough to drive a power amplifier (expecting line level signals) to its full potential. The disclaimer being that A you might not need to drive the amp to full tilt or B. Some power amplifiers can receive instrument level signals (can provide enough gain to get the input level up high enough). It will work though and will sound great in stereo. Yes, you could insert a stereo DI box in between the pedal and amp enabling the two channels to be picked off to a stereo PA. Though I know that there will be thoughts being shared about running a stereo PA, but that’s a story for another day!
  21. Great communications, fast payment, all the good stuff, thumbs up from me! Dan
  22. I still have my Marlin Sidewinder. It was a P/HB and the neck is a skinny jazz neck. Yes, the body was ply and I upgraded the pickups, but I guess I got lucky, it was actually quite a good player after I set it up properly (I was 13!)
  23. Well, there's a bit more to a learner-beater than high action as you have mentioned - so, it could be possible that the action alone was enough to provide additional exercise for the muscles, but bad necks, rough fret work, poor tone, boat-anchor weight and general unplayability I would say in my experience as a teacher is an impedance to progress. Students have actually said they would have given up a long time ago if they had to carry on playing the "examples" they were told to endure at school. That said, there is no doubt that after playing my high action bass for a week teaching, my gig bass feels like it has guitar strings on in comparison. Both basses are decent tools though.
  24. Tech 21 MIDI Moose still available, boxed! - I've noted that this week the MIDI Moose product has been dropped from the Tech 21 website. Here's what it looks like: Dead simple to use and brilliant for any device that needs MIDI control - keyboards, synths or even laptops running MainStage live!
