  1. The H4n method means you can also place compression / limiting on each of the mic or audio feeds too. Your mix to your ears is also stereo.

fwiw I also use two condensers when necessary and a stereo IEM mix is available. Actually, I would rather set up my own external monitoring than have to ever go mono again. Eurgh.

p.s. I’d not recommend anything but decent condensers for ambience. SM57’s response couldn’t deliver the results I’d wish for, but even a pair of SE pencils will be brilliant. SE8 for example, but even a pair of  SE X1S mics.

Sorry I can't help.  I know nothing about drums beyond their shape and size and the slightly glazed over, dreamy-eyedness my drummer gets when you mention "Vistalites", whatever they are...

Oh yummy, my old drummer had a Ludwig Vistalite, very John Bonham! It was actually a great gigging kit, but I thought his Yamaha version had a better sounding kick drum.

Bass players with lots more brain than me (probably most of you):

I currently run one 4-ohm cab out of my small but mighty Carvin microbass amp. I would like to run a second 4-ohm cab out of it as well, but my understanding is that if the cabs are linked, the ohm rating will drop to 2, which is too low. However, the amp has two speaker lines out. Can I run a line out of each to its own cab and still maintain the 4-ohm rating? Thanks!

    Also:

The only time this *could work is if a head had two separate power amplifiers inside, like the Hartke LH1000 - in which case you'd be able to hang a 4 ohm cabinet of each separate amplifier output.

Your other option is to source an amplifier that is able to handle 2 ohm loads. There's quite a few out there, but that will of course incur a financial hit.. but.. new toys is always fun :)

  4. Simple answer, no my friend! The sockets are wired together in parallel, so it won't make a difference if you daisy chain from one cabinet to another, or come out of separate sockets on the amplifier, you'd still have your 2 Ohm total impedance load.

What do you think of the elf?  I'm considering a nice little compact rig and am considering an Elf - @Doodmade it sound great on his video review.

Thank you ❤️! I’ve actually been thinking about getting one myself for house rehearsal sessions!

Awesome I’ve got some Alan Parsons and Supertramp (Paris ‘79) coming.

Is there a ‘choice’ Queen concert? Looking at the Rock Montreal and Live Aid disk…

Montreal is brilliant, the footage is stunning. I've also got the Hungarian Rhapsody concert too. I hope that by some sort of miracle they can turn the footage from Wembley 86 magically (scuse the pun) in to glorious 4k UHD. Its my favourite concert ever, my musical bible and life long tuition "book".

Personally I prefer drive into compressor. Overdrive is dynamic and responds to touch. Compressing first would reduce it's touch sensitivity.

Switch the order around and see how they affect each other.  You'll get a reaction different depending on their position in your signal chain, so play around and see which you like best.

Agree with both of the above! I like to use heavy compression before a drive if I want to have a consistent level of saturation - say, when providing almost "bowed" like sounds from my bass. Placing the compressor after the drive means that on low gain settings I can use the compressor to "turn up" the overall level when playing lightly. Digging in means I get the extra bite but the compressor evens the volume.

I SO love bass gear! Even switching the order of pedals offers so many tonal opportunities!

@Stingray5 Thanks - I've got two notifications, one from Landmarq and one from one of your channels, and followed back both.

To reply to your question, the screenshot I posted earlier, before my last post, was from Studio - Customization - Basic Info. It still shows the same (lack of) options.

It may be a matter of time, now that the channel is well over 100 followers. Many thanks! :)

@Dood your follow is still not notified in the list (but counts towards the total number all the same), so I found your channel in your signature and followed it from there. 👍

Actually, now you mention it, I had some weirdness receiving subs on mine too. I wanted to comment on the latest subscribers, but it wouldn't report it back correctly, so I didn't bother.

The Hipshot HB7s are a direct drop-in, exact same size as the Fender ones so no mods required, fit side by side same as stock

Cheers fella! That's good news. I love the look of the old (pre 76) 70's and definitely the reverse Kluson style keys and wondered if they'd fit too, but maybe not. I might have to save my pennies for a Nate Mendel!

  10. Just a question to those who own a Player P. Will the headstock take the standard Fender plate tuning keys? Like the Schaller / Hipshot / Gotoh 70's plate style? Or even the Gotoh Resolute GB640, which are stunning tuning keys. All will need new screw holes drilling, but will the plates fit side by side on the Mimsy headstock?

  11. Funnily, I love all my "toys". Anyone who has seen my (hundreds of video) reviews knows that I cant wait to get my hands on new amps, effects, pedals and whatnot. One of my basses just laps it up and sounds amazing whatever you throw at it. However, I just can't fathom why my ole 76 P bass sounds so incredibly, mind-blowingly amazing plugged straight in to my favourite amp and cabinets. It just doesn't need anything else and the tone is to die for. I ❤️ it!

  12. I really like this guy's very technical reviews of all the favourite interfaces out there:

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0HrD4cTsQpAZ8KK9jPzzGg

Julian Krause gets to grips with the figures and after a few different reviews, you can see some of his graphs comparing the benefits of each. I bought my Focusrite Clarett 2Pre before knowing about his reviews, so, I'm pretty pleased to see its a very solid contender, as is the Scarlett Gen 3 models. @Focusrite | Novation gets my thumbs up.
