It was a serious reply - there's absolutely no money in it. We're far too old and far too ugly to "make it" so we just make some tunes, record them and send them out into the ether to absolutely zero plaudits because we must suffer for our art - and we're terrible at convincing other people to suffer our art...

Awesome! I have a Foto Flame Precision in this very colour that was my main bass for 20 years or so, and it’s my favourite bass ever. Shame I don’t gel with Jazz basses, a companion for it would’ve been cool. GLWTS!

I’ll direct these fairly minor things at Fender initially as they’re what I generally buy, but can just as much apply to all.
All basses that have black scratchplates be fitted with black screws as standard.
Straplock buttons supplied with new basses.
Basses to come with an alternative scratchplate included (loved this with the black JMJ Mustang).
Also…
BC Rich - make a nice Mockingbird Double P shortie.
Gibson - kill the 3 point bridge off forever. Oh, and reissue the Flying V bass too.

From his expression and the position of his foot it appears he’s stepped in something.

How did you pay for it?
If by credit or debit card consider going down the chargeback route given you’ve given the merchant ample time and opportunity to resolve and they’ve failed to.

Stripped or not I've seen far worse (as the actress said to the bishop etc etc).
Whether you keep it or sell, keep it as a whole instrument either way. Because it already is one. Just my twopenneth…

It brings to mind a Tom Waits quote…
A gentleman is someone who can play the accordion, but doesn’t.

Morphine and Sandman absolutely slayed. The fact they’re so largely overlooked and unknown all these years later is nowt short of criminal in my book.
So bravo to the OP for unwittingly seeking out the magnificence of Morphine.

Wunjo Bass that London.
I wanted to try a Peavey Vypyr VIP III, but they didn't have any in stock. Actually up to that point they'd never had any.
Laurence said to me they would order one, I could try it, and if I didn't like it no worries because it's a cool thing to have in the shop.
I did like it, they price matched and free delivery
I've bought other stuff - multi fx; comfort strap; etc - and they have always been lovely.
Married to my cousin, is Laurence. Lovely chap.- 1

Will absolutely second the feedback here for Ashdown (happily still servicing an original ABM 400 for not very much cost at all, amongst other things) and Barefaced (Alex has always been really thorough and crazily detailed and informative on any responses to email questions or queries).
Actually, Guitar Guitar (Birmingham is my local one) have also always been great on the occasions I’ve had cause to visit too.
The Little Guitar Shop in Birmingham I’ll also big up. They have some tasty stock from time to time and have done a few bits of tech work for me that have been bang on.

Wowzer. My ‘76 is in about 14.5% of the condition this looks to be in. Very, very cool bass. GLWTS!

Suggest also seeing if the shop has one of those McCartney ‘Bassman’ stickers. If so, stick it on his bass and add a question mark at the end. 😬😬😬

I know that the bridge pickup ruins the look.
Came here to say this. An absolutely cracking looking bass otherwise, but that J pickup makes me sad. -
Not tempted to go with black screws?
looks great regardless though!

Have you decided what type of uke you’re going for - soprano, concert, tenor etc?
I dabble a bit and have a Lanikai LU-21 tenor which sounds pretty good to my ears and they don’t break the bank (up to and around £100). They do, or at least did, those in soprano and concert models too. Very much depends what “cheap” means though. You can get far cheaper, of course, but I’ve no idea if there’s anything decent in that bracket.
PS - this may possibly be better being moved to ‘Other Instruments’ in terms of the likelihood of more responses.

I contacted the producer and said sorry, no new toys etc. He suggested getting it sent to the studio. So I rang BD this time to see if they could do that and their attitude was basically ‘yeah yeah just send the address, sorry about that whatever’ and they couldn’t put the phone down fast enough. Back on the emails I sent them the studio’s address- Studio 1, AIR, lyndhurst. Within seconds I got a reply, all nice as pie, asking who I was recording with, nicey nicey and interested again. So basically in one deal I experienced BD’s best, and poor customer service, literally changing by the second.
The cynic in me wonders if the about turn had anything to do with the mention of the studio in question.BD aren’t all that far from me, though I must admit I’ve never visited when in the vicinity, partly due to reading so many less than great accounts. These issues may be in the minority, but there does seems to be a lot of anecdotal evidence. Enough to keep me away anyway. If I want attitude that results in me handing over a wedge of cash I’ll chat to my kids…

Steve McDonald has been playing these with Melvins now for a couple of years or so as his main basses. It’s a good enough recommendation for me.
Plus, there’s no three point bridge on them. Big tick for me!

The step still is a good idea. I used to have one of these cabs and found the same thing. They’re a right weird shape as well - narrow but deep, as you say.
