To expand past ‘the phrases’, it always makes me smile when the weather picks up and, instead of on manky bedspreads, basses are photographed in the garden instead.

Looks like concrete socks or chains are needed. Don’t think the body will sink in the river otherwise…

£2,999 for a Stingray. I love Stingrays but that is just nuts...
But I do agree with this too.

I dunno. For a start £1500 isn’t worth what it was…

Just got home from rehearsal using said new JMJ. I set the amp as I usually do then made any adjustments as required, which ended up with a slight low mid boost whereas with my Precisions it’s usually a big cut there. Overall it felt a bit odd as I’m so used to hearing a Precision when I play but if I’m honest it suited the band better, and the guys said so as well. I also had no trouble adapting to the short scale in the band environment. So I’m now even more extremely pleased with this little bass.
More importantly, while these aren’t loads lighter than most Ps I’ve had, did you feel a physical benefit as you hoped you would?- 1

I’ve been watching this thread with interest, especially as I’m currently looking for a bass for a
friend of mine. He is a beginner, and asked me to help him find a bass. When he said how much
will he need to pay, I said probably around £100 which is what I thought it would cost to find him
a Squier Affinity or something similar. Been looking for a few days, and haven’t seen anything
half decent for less than £150 or more. It would seem that even the budget end of the market
has not been immune to a big hike.
(I’ll maybe take a look at Thomann for a Harley Benton or something, but would have preferredto have a go on a bass before buying.)
Yes, Harley Benton should probably be your go to in that ballpark. -

I love this bass more and more every time I play it.
I’m still in that position and mine has been my main bass for over 12 months. -
I’ve got a 2x12 bass cab. Got it used so can’t speak so far as their service goes. It’s a tad heavy, though not stupidly so. Sounds like thunder!

Hope this came with the black pickguard included too?

I get it. Went on a similar journey for largely the same back-related reasons. Out with the Precisions and in with the Mustangs for me too.
YMMV obvs but as someone who has always massively favoured a Precision, the JMJ for me feels and sounds like a smaller, absolutely killer, Precision. I absolutely love mine to bits and really can’t say enough good things about it.
Mine feels enough like home now that I’m properly happy with it. And I never thought I’d be ‘OK’ not largely playing Precisions.
Hope yours works out similarly well!

The only possible downside is the weight - mine are both 10lb, but that's not an issue for me.
I echo this. Had one the same as Cosmo’s bass on the right briefly in a trade. Sounded really good but was just too damn heavy for me.- 2

Yep, L4/L5 prolapses and disc damage years back have left my back…not great.
Pilates based stuff seems to be what the NHS physios at least have been favouring in recent years and does help me for sure. Walking plenty when it’s OK to also helps. Likewise (trying to) keep my weight down.
Oh, and Barefaced cabs!

Ah well, the Kentish Town gig offers no seats and anyway - I'm gigging that evening.
Kentish Town Forum has upstairs unreserved seating. Or has had when I’ve been. -

You’re not wrong if it’s how you feel.
But my own feelings are no, you’re well within your rights to be annoyed, especially as it wasn’t clear to you at the onset what the split was. Needs a frank conversation I’d say…

Disappointed to find that the thread isn’t about a one-off gig from a jazz bassist I’d not heard of or something.
