1.
I had a gig the day after I had the stitches out. Which was about 2 weeks post op. I didn't have any complications and the operation went very well. Of course we are all different and heal at different rates. So best to play it by ear.
That’s reassuring, I plan on playing the gig (and not going to hell...)
2. I hate cancelling gigs (it sends you straight to hell...) I spoke with the nurse and she said that they encourage movement to prevent excessive scar tissue build up, apparently playing bass is good post op physio for carpal tunnel..... I’m hoping that as long as there are no complications I should be ok.
3. Booked for carpal tunnel on my right wrist on 24th October......gig booked on 10th November!!!! It may be a little tight, anyone have any experience of recovery post surgery?
4. Is there anything that can be done with knackered silks?
5.
What is the benefit of having silk wrappings anyways?
It means that when you take them off a bass to put on another bass (i'm constantly swapping and changing) they fray and look like crap! I'm all for a good quality flat without silks, dont DR Legends have no silks?
6. Well I can report that the griffin survivor battery last a hell of a long time more than the Moorer MP battery, and at less than half the price...... Moorer low battery light on after a three hour practise and griffin still regustring as fully charged, powering a tech 21 fly bass rig and a Kong pitch black. It does require a 5 to 9 volt converter and a centre negative adapter, but all appears to work great 👍🏻
7. When i'm not playing and E or A string my thumb is generally wedged between the two of them making sure they're both nicely muted..
8. It’s a great but it has a lot of competition on the Precision front in the collection, hence wanting the trade.
9. I've run my smooth hound off a griffin survivor phone charger now for several hours and it's still showing as 4 out of 4 bars charge.....
10.
Fantastic colour with the pea green scratch plate.... I have a jazz in the same colour.... good luck!
I have a mint green pickguard from my 1964 Precision and I have to say they've done an excellent job of getting this one very similar.
11. I have three Precisions and quite fancy a Jazz bass so this is a rather tentative enquiry to trade this for a Jazz bass of a similar value. It's in good condition and new last year, not looking to sell, only to trade. Will put some photos up later but here is a link to one for sale at GAK Well photobucket is pretty useless now, below is a link to a slideshow https://chris-anthony.smugmug.com/frame/slideshow?key=3KQgtB&autoStart=1&captions=0&navigation=0&playButton=0&randomize=0&speed=3&transition=fade&transitionSpeed=2&clickable=1 And I’ve now been able to embed a few photos too how to upload pictures on internet
12. Just had my email saying they've been dispatched so all good so far.
13. The wife has nicked the sandstrom phone charger I got last week! so I just got a griffin survivor power bank off eBay for £20. I also have a moorer 9v mp battery which cost £60, the Griffin looks great and has a rubber case, says it can be dropped from six foot. I still have the 9volt to 5 volt converter so going to give them both a good run out to see which is best. ive used the Moorer a couple of times so far and after a couple of hours just powering a Techamp fly rig the light has gone from green to amber, but worked great.
14. Never used them before but just ordered these to give them a go, thanks for the heads up.
15. Weired, DJ was playing out on the terrace when we got there and never stopped playing when we struck up inside. Unfortunately it was a lovely evening and most people stayed outside. He also didn't want to pay us and said we had agreed to play for free until I showed him the email he sent agreeing £300. Not sure we will go back.
16. It's a sandstrom 9000mah, I also found myself a rather handy plastic case and some foam to make a nice home for them both!
17. Think I may have over done it, I think I got a battery which will run my smooth hound for about 40 hours.......
18. You can pick up the rechargeable mobile phone power banks pretty cheap, and the conversion cable for a little over £5, as long as it provides a stable power supply and doesn't blow up it a no brainier! I have a two hour practice tonight to give it a good run out.
19. Well I've bought a Sandstrom Gold series 9000mAh battery and the 5v to 9v converter and all is good, only used it to power my smooth hound for half an hour this afternoon but worked great with its own battery, what a great idea to use these batteries! Dare I ask what the calculation is for how long the battery will power a device with a 250MA draw?
