Our last gig was November 2019 and we were in the studio a few times early last year due to breaking in our new singer. We were in once last September between lock downs and the musical side of the band were bang on. But the singer needs some time to get on it again I reckon.

NOW SOLD. Here is a 2002/2003 Mexican Jazz bass. I think the colour is sage green? It has had a life before I got it. Condition: Not so good bits Body has a dent on the edge, it looks like it has been dropped. The scratchplate is er scratched and has some marks on it. The bell housing was covered in crud of some description and you can see some light scratching on it. The headstock end is marked as per photo. There is some pitting on the pickup poles but this doesn`t effect the pickups at all. A couple of small dents on the back of the neck. The good bits It sounds great, just like a good Jazz should. It has very little fret wear and the rosewood board has been oiled and looks nice and dark. The rest of the body apart from the dent described above, is in great condition. It has new Fender strings. It a Fender for the price of a Squier. Weight is 4.2 kg or 9.2 lb`s. *********************************** Like I say, this bass has been gigged and has a few cosmetic issues but it`s nearly 20 years old. It looks really cool in the green finish and it`s cheap!! The price is £380 delivered to UK mainland or £365 collected from Paisley but that will need to be worked out due to the usual. Bank transfer preferred but if you want to use paypal, we can sort it out.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Having checked out some reviews on YT it seems that they are very much a marmite bass so I will have to have a think. It would mean moving some others out but I have too many anyway. I would hate to take it off the guy and then have to sell it which isn`t so easy thanks to Mr Hall

A mate is selling the above and has offered it to me for mates rate but I have never played one. I only play fingerstyle and looking online at pics I can`t see where I would anchor my thumb. Is there anywhere or is it a non starter? Don`t tell me to use a pick as it isn`t going to happen, too many years with my thumb on a Fender pickup. Any advice appreciated.

The Ibanez 300 or better still the 500, are excellent basses. Nice slim necks and decent eq. They will make your old Stagg feel like something from the 80`s. The 1880`s to be precise!

👍 I get that, you either love it or don`t. I bought the white one which looks better to me.

That newish Paranormal Jazz is superb. Great build quality, simply the best Squier I have owned. The looks are a bit quirky and its not a lightweight but for around £360, far better than a Classic Vibe model. The Paranormal is made in China and the CV in Indonesia. Check out Lobsters review for he speaketh the truth!

Bass Centre Guy Pratt Betsy or Bruce Thomas Profile Bass
jezzaboy replied to Bobass's topic in Bass Guitars
To the op. I wasnt trying to take the p*ss when I asked what looks the best to you. I haven`t owned a Bass Collection bass but from everything I have read and seen on line, these basses seem to punch well above their price range and as I like both a P and a J, for home practice I would pick which one I like the look of best. Don`t they do a P/J bass? That would be ideal, punchy P pickup and that J bridge sound. -

Hermes courier - new flexible delivery option!!!
jezzaboy replied to kevin_lindsay's topic in General Discussion
Having driven a truck for Hermes in the past for a week (thats all I could manage as I told them to stick it) and seen the way they deal with fragile goods in the warehouse, if you have any choice in the matter, do not send anything with these bunch of cowboys. You have been warned! -

I think that when you start to get into that price bracket you really need to have a quality product. Part of the problem for me with expensive Sire`s is we all remember when they came out they were a budget bass and they were exc value but these don`t really do anything for me at that price point.

It`s nice but I think the pre amp is the same one you get in the sub £300 V3? I don`t think I would pay the £1k + these are.

Complete lack of Yamah BB1100s basses for sale
jezzaboy replied to ProfJames's topic in General Discussion
There are some chancers, sorry sellers, trying to get around £1000 for them when I reckon that a good Jap one is £500 ish tops. There was a couple of nice ones on here last year that sat for a while. It like everything else. When you don`t want one they are everywhere but when you actually have the cash and the need, they seem to have vanished.... -
I would give Strung out guitars just off the Saltmarket a shout. They have done some work for me and my bandmates over the years and they have been spot on. I don`t know what the script is now re the lockdown though https://www.strungoutguitars.com/

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
jezzaboy replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
I fear that even if we ever do get out of this lockdown loop we seem to be in, there will be sod all places left to play in. -
It usually does.... I have been there so many times. Like when I bought a 734 earlier this year and didn`t give it a fair chance and moved it on

Sold a pedal to Brian. Nice and easy, the way it should be! Thanks!!

Update! After Thomann telling me in an e mail that DHL would be sending all orders to the UK back to Thomann, I got a text from DHL on Tuesday saying that they would be delivering my parcel yesterday which they did. But it is more than likely going back to Thomann as I got sorted with parts from Northwest guitars, delivered in 24 hours (had to pay £5 for next day delivery) and whilst they weren`t the same parts I ordered from Thomann, they will do fine. The lack of coms from them is disappointing but after the year that we have all had, it`s a minor event.
