  1. I was looking at these the other night @Phil Starr. I`m going into the studio tomorrow night to try out our new Yamaha DBR 12`s. My plan is to put everything through the pa. If it works I would love to downsize and get a smaller speaker to use as an on stage monitor for myself as I currently use an RCF 715 which is great but is rather large.

A 10 inch would be ideal due to the size (I have a Ford Fiesta and anything that can be downsized is a bonus) but as I play in an ACDC tribute band with a couple of Marshall valve amps and a drummer, I don`t know if the RCF 10 inch would cut it as a monitor with the Yams doing the heavy lifting? I could maybe put it on a stand and lift it up a bit? Using a sub isn`t really an option due to transport issues. I might just bite the bullet and give it a try.

  2. Players P bass for sale only. Good condition, just a few dings in the body and a nick on the headstock. Fitted with a Geezer Butler passive EMG pickup which was £100 on it`s own and Japanese Gotoh tuners for the classic look. I had a Gotoh bridge on it but I prefer the look of the original so there are 2 small holes under the bridge that can`t be seen. Bass weighs 8.8 lb`s and will come with the original white scratch plate.

Collection from Paisley or local meet up would be best for me but I have a box that I can stick it in and you can arrange a courier.

  3. Glasgow is the same and now the council in their wisdom have decided to extend the parking meters form 6 pm till 10 pm and it costs a bloomin fortune to park on the street. The now closed Hard Rock cafe on Buchanan st was the same. no access to the front after 10 am and you couldn`t get access to the front until after 7 pm.

Still that`s no longer a problem as the feckers let the staff know on Tuesday that the venue wouldn`t be opening and if punters wanted to try their overprice fair there was one in Edinburgh!

  4. Will at BB had 2 nice BB110`s in stock, a natural Jap one and a made in Taiwan metallic black one for £400. To be honest I don`t really have a use for the BB but I have loved them since owning one in the past so got the black one. In great condition, just a few wee dings and sounds great. I have always loved the BB`s P pickup. It has a Babicz bridge which might not be staying as I prefer the BBBOT. I will stick a pic up later.

Ahh, the dibbler.  His video editing style is a bit of an acquired taste, and he does talk crap sometimes, but his heart's in the right place I think.

Is he still doing that stutter and saying words wrong crap? I cant watch his videos due to that.

  6. Kwik fit. Around 2005 my wife took our Ford Focus in for its mot. They said to her it needed £600 worth of work as the brake disc, drums on the back, pads  and shocks needed changed. Took it to a local garage that was recomended by a friend and it passed its mot easily. And the garage has looked after our cars ever since. The mechanic in my local place said that KF were notorious for trying to rip folk especially women off.

I had a Thomann Producer Backpack for a while. but I found I could never remember which pocket everything was in!

Currently, I use a generic sports backpack which has no pockets (apart from one in the front flap where I store a few spare strings) but a large storage area. The aforementioned flap folds right out which means I can open up the bag nice and wide and drop my leads, mics etc into it without any faffing about. I keep my leads, SM58, toolkit and a few other odds and ends in there and it works a treat for me.

Fishing bags and cases are a lower-cost option, too - here's a random one from Amazon.

Exc @rushbo, just bought one of those random ones from Amazon. :hi:

  8. The figures for those Alto speakers are nonsense. Will they be loud enough for your pub band? I would imagine so. I spent the last week going back and forward with all the 12 inch speakers that were in my budget and have bought a set of Yamaha DBR 12`s. There is so much info regarding the pros and cons of various makes but having used a lot of Yamaha kit in the past and the fact that you get a 4 year warranty, I went with those.

Haven`t had the chance to use them with the band but I have used them in the house with music playing through them and they sound great. I would love a set to use as a hi fi. :D

I don`t think you can go wrong with Yam, Alto, etc.

Rookie mistake, though you see plenty of old timers dong it too. Everything should go into the PA. It's not about volume, it's about dispersion of the mids and highs. Every amp, including yours, has limited midrange and high frequency dispersion. Highpass all the instrument channels at 100 to 125Hz. This means buying a mixer with at least twelve channels. If you try to save money with a six or eight channel mixer you'll either lose money by having to replace it early on or lose functionality by not having enough channels.

And this is exactly where I am at the moment!

Bought a Behringer mixer with 4 mic inputs and 4 stereo inputs,  paired with 2 x 12 Behringer tops. But on the last big pub gig we did using their pa with Yamaha 12 inch DBR`s and a desk with loads of inputs, I ended up with 4 x vocals, drum kit and 2 guitars all through the pa and this is the way we are gonna go.

So I`m looking at the 12 inch Alto TS 412`s or the pricier but better reviewed Yamaha DBR 12`s and a new mixing desk with plenty of inputs. Then put everything through the pa. It`s going to cost me a few bob but I reckon it`s the way to go. An expensive lesson.

  10. I recently bought a Boss wireless and I needed a larger board so it doesn`t get damaged hanging off the small board so got this one off of Amazon for £36. The cool thing is it has a cover on the bottom to store the power supply. Exc value for the money.

Anyway I usually use the Sadowsky plugged into the ART tube amp into my RCF, I had the space for the Sansamp so stuck it on there if I fancy a change. The Beringher was cheap as chips and I was gonna spend a few bob on a better one but it does the job and I might not notice the difference anyway! Sorry for the dust.

  11. In my experience if you buy from the big box shifters, Thomann, Andertons etc unless it is a quite expensive bass/guitar, the item will come in the factory sealed box so they don`t go near the set up. You do seem to have had a bit of bad luck though so hopefully it will get resolved soon.
