  1. I fancied getting a bass amp again so picked up a nice Ashdown ABM 500 15" combo. Took it down to the studio along with my RCF 715 and a/b them. And the RCF gave the ABM a damm good spanking. Whilst the ABM was well cranked, the RCF was barely running at halfway.

We played MacSorley`s in Glasgow last Friday and I just used the RCF and it filled the room easily against a Marshall and Peavey valve amps . Just shows you, sometimes you shouldn`t go back!

  2. I went to buy something from them that was "in stock" which it was, in their Swedish Hub! :D

But I have used them a few times and the fact that you can order stuff late on a Saturday to get it on Sunday is good for those impulse buys.

Saw the Blockheads last night at Dingwall's. They were great.

    Isn't that just a standard Sire V7?

Naw, I`m pretty sure thats the new shape 24 fret job that no bugger seems to be buying as Andertons have dropped the prices about £200.

  4. Now £110 for the bass collected or £125 for the bass and gig bag which cost £38 on it`s own. Both items VGC.

Save me from those Gumtree wasters!! :dash1:

There is a new bass coming tomorrow so I will have a box that I can stick it in but you must arrange the courier. If you are going down that route, I would suggest taking the gig bag as well for protection.

From my experience with Fender basses, it would be quite easy to spot the difference between the fake and the real thing. The fake is almost certainly going to be better made.

    You`ll rip you tights! :D

  6. Mint condition Squier Mini P bass. I bought this to use as a back up for gigs but this short scale ain`t for me. This is 28.5 inch scale so just slightly longer than a 6 string guitar so perfect for guitar player or youngsters. The only thing that is changed is I fitted a set of Wilkinson tuners as the original ones weren`t really much cop.

But don`t let the little fella`s size fool ya, it sounds just like a full size P bass.

The Fender gig bag is also like brand new and can be had for £20 onto the price of the bass. Collection from Paisley or local meet up.

Go on, you know you want to! :D

  7. Our guitar player recently bought a AKG wireless unit for his guitar. It worked really well when he went out into the crowd with no dropout. I`m fed up with standing on cables as I tend to move around a bit when space allows so I`m thinking of getting the same model.

Would it cause any problems with the 2 of us using the same type of units on a gig? I know sod all about these things so forgive me if this is a daft question Link to product below. Ta

Easier said than done! USA Stingray bridges don't come up for sale often.

The Sterling Ray34/Ray35 basses are excellent quality. I believe the pickups and electronics are the same as used the USA models. And the bridge is more or less idential to the real thing (except the engraved logo, but who can tell from a distance).

I don`t think the pickup and electronic are the same as the US models, some of them have the same electronics as the Sub range according to Lowendlobster.

  9.   @Jono Bolton Re the wide ABM head.

I owned a 500 a few years back and speaking to Dave he explained that the "wide boy head" as he called it, was due to Ashdown running out of the normal sized casings and having the casings lying around from the combo`s which are wider so they just stuck the chassis in them.

    Simples!

  10. Buy one of the Sterling Sub`s for around £400. Not only are they a really good bass out the box but if you install an EMG pickup with the wiring, a fake transfer if you so desire and either add a set of mutes for the older MM`s to the bridge or try and source a bridge that suits, for an additional £200 - £300 you will have an exc bass.

Add me to the £2000 MM list please!
