My brand new signature bass - The Alvistar
bassmanady replied to margusalviste's topic in Bass Guitars
I like the shape of the bass....i personally would prefer the scratch plate to be larger,so that all the controls can be on it...but otherwise nice looking bass -
If you use a Bass Collection Comfort strap beware
bassmanady replied to GreeneKing's topic in Accessories and Misc
Thanks for posting this..i have been using the Comfort Strapp, for all my basses, and although they are probally better quality,i have never thought of the possibilty that one of the four plastic links may break 'till now....cable ties, good idea as a precaution..Ady -
I recently won this bass on ebay...to use as a temporary backup bass for my TRB...I was looking for something cheapish until i managed to get another TRB. Well it was cheap, but infact a very well made Korean bass, with a nice arch top flame maple body, very well contoured, superb balance, excellent fretwork,Bartolini pups, and passive switch.Slim neck and narrow string spacing, ideal for small hands, but still fine for slap style. This was my first all maple body bass,so i was not sure what the sound was going to be like..i was pleasantly suprised at a nice warm round sound, and with the mids boosted, enough punch to cut through...and with the top boosted, its not sharp or to edgy. I have had several, far more expensive basses than this, that were not as good..

I bought this fantastic cab about 10 weeks ago,off Matt42uk,which was one of a pair he was selling,as a try out to replace my heavy Fender 2x10 and 1x15 cabs...less weight..less cabs was the intention,as i do get the occassional back ache. I have used it for lots of gigs and rehearsing...and it does the job..but..unfortunately for my back!! i really prefer having the 1x15 in my sound, which i have been using for the last couple of years. It is in immaculate condition, has really been looked after..and comes with original box and packaging Now reduced to £400 as i now dont use it...,i think they are £826 new from the bass centre...so quite a saving. I am near Woking for collection,or could post but thats £42 by parcelforce 48..or you can arrange your own courier. Cheers Ady

Having just bought a Markbass LMK amp, thought i'd take a picture of it with the rest of the amps i seem to have collected, since 1987...i seem to find it hard to sell amps,i like to keep them just incase one or two pack up in one week, well thats my excuse!! Yet to use the LMK at a gig but at home it sounds pretty good to me.

Thanks Guys, for your help and info,,Ady

Hi, I am selling my 2002 U.S.A.,Fender Precision Deluxe 5 string..it is in very good condition,no buckle rash, just a couple of dings on the edge of the body..there is a 15mm long hair size scratch on the back of neck(tried to show in pic)which can be felt with your thumb when sliding past, does not worry me,but thought worth a mention. It weighs a comfortable 9 1/2lbs,has a very nice grain pau ferro fingerboard. The B string is excellent, and the neck set with a low action, and strung with a newish set of Elixir strings. Comes with a new Kinsman case. price £650.

Very, nice bass Rich, stunning grain...and that gold hardware really sets it off
-
..voted no, as it seems to cheapen the look of the bass to me,which has a very nice blue colour
-
I would hang this on my studio wall as a piece of art...very much like it..Reminds me of a Roland bass in design(i think)that has a supporting arm
-
Absolutely unbelievable...as a bass player would you buy it?..as a guitarist would you buy it? what next

Prices falling???.Not if your lucky!!

I see this is back on ebay again...the overseas bidder pulled out on paying the £1400...so not so good after all. -
As you can see from my gear list ............... both the trb`s have the `p` suffix. Both have piezo`s in bridge as standard. There are times when thay are relly useful but as you can turn them off you get a very wide range of sounds available without any compromise to the mag pups.
I have the TRB 5PII,with the piezo's built into the monorail bridge,i find them usefull for certain sound requirements, but even then, usually no more than a 1/4 turn of the piezo volume control.

I was surprised when i tuned in to watch JB, to see the bass player, being so young,(well most are young to me)playing with him...and must say very impressed with how she grooved with the music..i think as it went on his playing grew on me,and there was some pretty interesting stuff going on,with the keys and drums, awsome IMO. Not sure if it was my telly sound or my hearing, but i thought the bass was low in the mix,and JB and co drowned it out more often than not
-
The G string and B string saddles on my P5 are nearly touching the bass plate to get a really low action, and the grub srews do stick out,but that does not worry me...if its just that you could take them out and put shorter ones in,or grind the ends down, bit trickier doing that tho, But it sounds like there is a DJ5 on the way
-
Now you have had time with it,what do you think of the sound..and what is the B string like?
-
I remember looking at this bass when it was on ebay, and was sort of interested, but not to keen on the colour, and design of the bass...but now with this refinish it looks terrific,i love the this red and chrome combination, great choice
