  1. I would second the MIJ ebay option. Youcan get a ffair bit of bass for your money. The roadstar 2s have a fairly modern feel and performance, have a retro look and wont bust the bank...
  2. Current: Peavey T40 Ibanez Blazer Kramer Forum 4 Mexican Jazz Charvette P mij Washburn B20 Satellite frankenbass (best player) Ibanez Roadstar 2 rb750 Aerodyne Jazz non export and a few 6 strings guitars. Ones that got away: Ibanez Musician fretless (!) Hohner Jack Aria Pro SB
  3. Just stuck some Fender stainless flats on my aerodyne jazz and am pleasantly surprised. Like folk have already said - much more treble than expected and smooth to the fingers. I wont be giving up roundwounds but am happy to have a 'flat' alternative.
  4. Here here Hamfist! My old ply sattelite kicks the ass off a modern peav#y I had the misfortune to buy a bit back. I gave it (peav#y) to some kids to paint.
  5. I play in a band locally but must admit to a bit of an 80s basses addiction. Ebay and cash converters support my addiction. I recently got a mij charvette p bass in a mock crocodile case for £57... it would be rude not to. The count is currently 12. I tell myself that they will increase in value to I am infact putting a bit of money away. Im sure that money supermarket guy would tell me to get a grip but it interests me and I love old gear. Guilty m'lord.
  6. I like the car analogy that someone mentioned earlier. Some look cool but are better in the garage,, some look rubbish but go like stink. New ones are reliable, do what theyre meant to, dont take much effort to maintain but feel a bit soulless. Every now and then you find a good one that fits your needs and budget. Unfortunately I wont be getting an Aston Martin or a Ricky any time soon.
  7. Washburn b20. Great condition,.. one bent tuner, otherwise mint . Unfortunately I dont think its likely to become my regular player over the roadstar 2. Still, one for the collection.

  9. Kent Armstrong hot alnicos deliver a punchy, P sound and wont break the bank. £45-ish on ebay.
  10. Blew my combined xmas funds from all who would contribute on a washburn b20 off ebay on sunday night. Might have been cheaper at some other time but xmas is when you have a spare bit of cash from the inlaws. Careful parcelforce. ..
  11. Nice one there.. Did a bit of a frankenbass P using a knackered old sattelite body myself and its the one I reach for 9 times out of 10 over much more expensive and esteemed basses. I whacked a Mighty Mite neck, Wilkinson tuners, Kent Armstrong pickups, schaller strap locks and a 3 ply tortoize shell pickguard on it. Probably cost me more than its worth but its a top bass and I learnt a lot doing it. Well done you.
  12. You say you have an ibanez on the way... I reckon you will like that. Just got an old roadstar 2 series 750 and it's gorgeous. Making me want to ebay some spandex trousers and perm whats left of my hair.
