1. Ooooo!! Now that looks like fun! And the tickets are reasonably priced to for such a prestigious band.
2. No worries man, if you know any other musicians that would benefit from this then please add them to the group. I just got tired of seeing so many "free" and "exposure" gigs popping everywhere I so thought I would try and do something about it.
3. Hey everyone, Sorry if this is not allowed so please feel free to take it down if so. I have just setup a group dedicated to UK Musicians/Bands/Deps that want PAID gigs only. Please join up and add your friends if you are interested. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1584145848526552/ Many thanks, Jake
4.
I prefer natural wear - it's trés cool, but there are risks (and expense) with buying a 30+ year old naturally worn high-end instrument! IMHO 'Relicing' allow you to own a modern bass with arguably better quality control and manufacturing techniques at a realistic price without fear of dinging your new pride and joy - any marks will contribute to it's worn appearance!
Agree with this 100%
5. It is lacking controls to be a "studio" compressor for my liking. Still not going to beat MXR's compressor that's for sure.
6. I currently own an Ibanez SR1205 and I personally feel it's one of the best basses i've ever played. I personally love the small string spacing (which i know is a marmite thing for some players) but the body is balanced, light weight, ergonomic and the big singles sound fantastic. If I had the money I would definitely upgrade to the prestige SR5006 just because I really enjoy the SR range.
7. Definitely either a second mibass 1x10 or if you can handle the weight, a 2x10 cab. I would also run the DI too just as a backup and if you're still lacking then you can just turn up on the PA.
8. I've only just bought myself an LM3 but already have GAS for one of these. I don't "need" it yet but I reckon once the function band gets really busy it'll definitely be worth investing in one.
9.
This is a good shout. I played a 1205 recently and the body was very small and ergonomic. Didn't like the string spacing but that's another story.
Now that you mention it, I actually own a 1205 and I absolutely love it. My previous bass had small string spacing so i felt at home with it. So yeah, two thumbs up for the 1205
10. I'd reccomend an Ibanez SR series basses, especially the premium ranges and upwards. They're light, small and thin with great hardware and pickups.
11. I've found, when playing in pit bands for musicals, a volume/pan setup is absolutely crucial for smoother endings and quicker tonal adjustments.
12. I would say if the highest you can go are the EBS cabs then go for them, otherwise definitely try and go for something like the Bergantinos.
13. I've just bought myself a Markbass LM3. I can't comment on their reliability yet but I know that pack a serious wallop and sound amazing, you certainly wouldn't regret buying one in terms of tone and volume.
14. Well, I have just taken delivery of the LM3. Have just this second plugged it all in and the first note was just heaven! Sounds absolutely amazing, from the low B all the way up to the upper registers, every note sings! Then I turned it up halfway... HOLY F*****g PIG S***!!! This thing is a monster, probably one of the loudest amps i've heard and from such a small footprint! So yeah, if anyone was having thoughts about getting one. Just go for it, you will be amazed at how good it sounds. (BTW I don't work for Markbass haha) Definitely worth every penny. Again thanks for your help guys, really appreciated!
15. Well I am finding more and more that the better quality the gear you use, the less EQ that is needed to a more pleasurable tone. The LM3 that arrives tomorrow will be the icing on the cake for my setup which will be: 1. Ibanez SR1205 2. MXR Bass Compressor 3. Markbass LM3 4. Bergantino HT & EX 112s Bit of a tone beast right there
16. Well on the fly changing of presets isn't on my priority list of features and it seems the tone print features are just a gimmick which isn't for me either. Looks like Markbass has won my choice over especially hearing some examples on youtube. I know it's not ideal referencing but with a limited budget there's not much you can do. I'm going to purchase a new LM3 today so at least then I will have warranty to cover it, plus my Equipment insurance should cover it too once it's been added. Hopefully it'll arrive Friday and I will take it for a spin on Sunday for rehearsals. Thanks for your input guys, this forum has been amazing to me so far
17. Thanks for all your suggestions guys. I think the second hand route is leaving me far too stressed at the moment. The LM3 is looking like the winning contender here too, the only niggle I have with them is that I have been reading quite a threads where people's LM2s +3s have been packing up mid gig which doesn't sound inspiring to me. Does anyone know what Makrbass warranty is like should a fault occur?
18. Hey guys, My so called trusty Peavey Tour 700 has died so I am now on the look out for a new amp to replace. I currently have 2 Bergantino 112 cab which gives me a combined rating of 650 watts @ 4ohms so ideally I need something to be close to that figure. I also play in a function band covering styles from Motown, funk, disco & pop. I have a rough £350 budget to help my situation either second hand or brand new. The two brand new replacements I have been looking at are: The Markbass Little Mark 3: http://www.bassgear.co.uk/product/markbass-little-mark-iii/ Or the TC Electronic BH550: http://www.bassgear.co.uk/product/markbass-little-mark-iii/ I'd love to hear the virtues and pitfalls of both in terms of tone, reliability, loudness etc. Also any other suggestions that are within reach of my budget would be great. Looking forward to hearing your responses Cheers Jake

20. So has anyone on here that owns one experianced any reliability issues with it? I have an amp that's about to give up the ghost and my budget at the moment is relatively limited and this looks, on paper like a good contender.
21. No dimmer, we do have a fridge and pc in the house but none have been a problem before. It's hurting my head. I may test it at rehearsals on sunday and see if the problems occurs there.
22. Right, took it to my local guitar shop and after thorough testing they couldn't get the amp to do the same noise at all. They tested it with all my cables too and no change. So, I bring the amp back and still the noise persists. I tried the amp with an old cab I have laying around (An Ashdown 1x12 bass cab) and the noise continues with it. I've also tried the amp and speakers in different plug sockets around the house with no change either. I've also tried my backup amp with all the combinations but no noise at all comes from the amp. (Ashdown Mibass 220 head) I want to say that my amp doesn't like the bergantinos but if it's doing it with the Ashdown then I am pretty stumped. So all in all i've narrowed down my problem to the amp being at home, which is odd because i've never suffered before with problems. Any ideas?
23. Haha you say and my amp has recently been giving me grief and I instantly starting "window shopping" for a replacement... GAS GAS GAS!
24. Well luckily the wife allowed a budget of £600 and I found myself some Bergantinos (HT112 & EX112). Definitely worth the upgrade, every note just sings beautifully. Definitely won't need anything else for long time to come. Cheers everyone!
25. I'd definitely like to know more about these amps. My Peavey is currently giving me jip and if she carrys on, this looks like a nice light weight replacement.
