    Once upon a very long time ago, when I was just getting out of gigging and selling my stuff, I advertised a Ashdown mini stack (ABM500, and 2 x Mini 4x8) on here. A regular (as was I and still am now)came to see it with a view to swopping me a "brand new" Ibanez SGR500 plus a little loot. At least thats what he told me, even specifying the shop he'd bought it from. It was just a pity I had been looking at the same bass the previous week on ebay for a very cheap price from Wales.....and I knew his ebay handle. I was suprised to say the least that he'd try and pull this, but just said "No Thanks". Life's too short, but I have wanted to get it off my chest for years. Luckily, all the other guys I've sold or bought from on here have been great !

    Hi Ped I certainly do prefer the old for sale forum. Anything I've sold, I've always made a donation, as I think it's the least I can do. I'd like to keep it the way it is, with a price to advertise your item, but I would have no objection to an annual subscription. Mind you, I'm an old fogie, and have been here pre FBI server heist, maybe the newer members won't agree ? Definitely the old "For Sale" forum for me.

    I don't want to moan, and I appreciate that a lot of work must have gone into the new classifieds, but please can we keep the old ones. I don't mind paying up front for an ad. I know it's early days, but the new bit just seems cold, impersonal, and hard to look at. Sorry if I've upset anyone.

    I had two of these. The one above, and then the later version with a built in compressor instead of the contour switch. It had a great sound, just wasn't loud enough, but the preamp out sorted that. The guy I sold mine to has still got them, and uses them in a small trio. I liked them.

    FF won't let me download it. Keeps chundering on about "Youtube cookies need to be cleared ", do that and still can't download it. Wahh ! I saw the extra long show on the "Selling England..." tour at Glasgow sans Ron Geesin, as the previous week the stage was pronounced a live electrical risk.

    Me (and it seemed like the whole of our street !) saw him at Green's Playhouse (before it was the Apollo ) in Glasgow, on the "Aladdin Sane" tour. It was amazing ! The row of seats we were in collapsed, but who cared ? Bowie and the band were in excellent form. I think they enjoyed it too. Our little band of 14 year olds were out giving it "Moonage Daydream", "Suffragette City" et all around the various youth clubs (doubt they still have them !) at the time. Looks like it's iPlayer for me.

    I remember being told that I was "just getting paid for enjoying yourself" as if this was wrong, or some kind of scam Of course, this was back in the dark ages, when every second person wasn't in a band, so being a musician wasn't THAT common then YMMV
