    Fresh batteries on board and still a bit of fizz when pushed. I wonder is there a better option for the preamp that'll work well with those noiseless pickups?

    I have changed the batteries but I went budget bob and swapped for used ones. I think I'll try brand new before any drama then but still wouldn't mind knowing what's recommended out there....

    Hello out there I recently acquired a rather lovely USA Fender limited run FMT but am not too sure whether to upgrade the preamp. Has anyone any experience of the Fender deluxe preamp board (part No 054137) and have you swapped it out to really liven up the sound of the bass? It is ok but limited. No active / passive bypass, no mid frequency selection and boost only on the Eq. I had thought about an East Uni pre 4 but wondered if there are other options out there that people have used. It's not got a plate btw so not a drop in. Cheers

    Up for sale is my immaculate 2005 Limited Edition Colour of the Year Blue Boy Rickenbacker 4003 Bass. These were a limited run for 2004/05 and are, in my opinion, the prettiest of Rickenbacker basses. It plays great, sounds immense and comes in its original Rickenbacker hard shell case with all case candy. Additionally it has the added bonus of an upgraded aluminium Hipshot bridge and a bezel insert in the rear pickup (£200 of upgrades). The original bridge and the treble pickup cover are included in the sale. It has one tiny chip on the headstock which has been filled with colour matched paint and if I didn't mention it you probably would never notice it. Other than that it is in immaculate condition and will benefit from a polish, fret polish and set up prior to being shipped. I’m only selling as I finally got myself the bass I wanted from being 14; a Jetglo 4001. Quite why I waited 40 years is beyond me.... On shipping, I'm happy to ship anywhere and as it's a rare bass I can offer worldwide shipping. As well as shipping, it can be viewed on the Wirral, I can drive to deliver within around 50 miles or can meet up. Thanks for looking

    I would have bid against you Ash had it not been for that nut width. I had a Shuker P/J which was built to the JJ specs and couldn’t get on with the nut width.... Hope it’s a keeper.

    Considering selling my 1997 GS Gypsy 2 semi acoustic / semi hollow. It’s in great condition for 25 years old with a few minor dings and scratches and some slightly loose finish on the sides of the body. It has twin humbuckers, coil tap, vol / vol / tone / tone & 3 way pickup selector, brass nut, GS bridge. These are carved rather than archtop type build so is similar to a Gibson Les Paul ES or a Midtown - just better.... Recently set up including fret level and crown and strung with 9’s. Incredibly playable and great sounding semi. If it said Gibson it’d be £1500 and it’s hand made in Partington (up north)! It’s in a functioning but slightly tatty hard case. Based on the Wirral but I can deliver or meet up within 50 miles or can ship it for around £30. Bass trades considered.
