  1. Bump for the best jazz bass you’ll ever play. like @bubinga5 I’ve owned one twice (I just bought back my old VJ4 after a 7 year search) and there is no better jazz bass
  2. There is no chance that it’s going anywhere. I used to have a strict one in, one out policy but I’m over that now and deploy a strict 5 in, hide two, sell one policy!
  3. I've gone for an RCF 735A so here starts my venture into the world of profiled bass sounds in a live environment. Here's hoping.....
  4. This is why I'm keen on the no amp set up. I searched for ages and tweaked an SVT profile on the kemper and through my home monitors it sounds brilliant with all my basses. It's the sound I want to carry into the live environment. That may change in a band situation but the kemper is so editable that I know with a few tweaks I'll be able to dial in what I need.
  5. Well to resurrect an old thread, I did regret selling that modulus but kept a watch out from when I realised - back in 2017 - until 2 weeks ago when I spotted my very own bass up for sale in Some Neck guitars in Dublin. Guess what? We’re reunited and it feels so good…..
  6. Very interesting listening. I'll give the full range speakers a serious think. After all I never complained about the PA sound front of house fed from my amps when I was gigging and they're more than capable of handling bass (fairly obviously...
  7. Reading some reviews on the FRFR route for bass and many seem to say they just don't cut it for bass. Psychologically I'm drawn to something that looks like a bass cab - no doubt due to standing front of one for years. GR and Berg look good. I take it the blackstar unity series are much lower quality.
  8. Unfortunately my Euromillions number didn’t come in. Thanks Tony I will keep a watch for one.
  9. Great questions. 3 piece, guitar, bass, drums, rock and indie. Not especially noisy. Just enough to compete with acoustic drums. Guitarist isn’t too loud. No FoH yet as it’s early days. If I was using a traditional rig I’d probably pick 400w and a 2x12. Budget preferably sub £750 and I’d prefer light as I don’t fancy lifting ceramic drivers in a birch cab any more……I did use Eden and Tech 21 VT500 previously for a bright zingy but deep tone. Thanks for your reply.
  10. I have a Kemper with some brilliant bass tones loaded so don't want to go down the amp / can route for my backline requirements. Just wondering if anyone has experience of a decent powered speaker / active bass cab? I've seen Blackstar unity active cabs and Berg IPs but has anyone tried a similar setup or have any advice please? Ta.
  11. Up for sale is my limited run Ferrari red Rickenbacker 4003 bass from 1993 with origonsl case. It plays and sounds great and has the bonus of a hipshot black bridge and I think these were made for just one year so it's very rare. It is in great condition with no knocks or dings & virtually no fret wear so has clearly not been played much. There's no paint wear on the back of the neck, no headstock dings and the only signs of use are some buckle rash marks on the back and some very light surface lacquer cracks. I swore I'd never let this go having sought one out for ages but an unforeseen bill means I have to let this one go. No trades unless its something under £500. Bass is on the Wirral but happy to drive 50 miles or so for a meet up or to ship at the buyer's cost. Thanks for looking and some better pics will be posted tmrw.

  12. t Would be very nice and go beautifully with my orange collection.
  13. Sold an Olympic white jazz deluxe to Peter. He was a pleasure to do business with and the whole selling experience was a doddle. Thanks again.
  14. My name is actually Vin Orange and when I was younger I was slightly shy and some cads decided my nickname should be Vin Rouge. Hilarious....
  15. Welcome to the clan Orangeglo No 11 of 30. It fits in nicely with my orange reverse headstock Shuker Jazz.
  16. You could always buy this Precision Elite from Japan as the deal includes a very rare Modulus graphite neck. I know he’ll take a lower offer (£1585 shipped) too as I nearly bought it. Import duty put me off….. https://reverb.com/item/76642388-free-shipping-worldwide-extremely-rare-fender-precision-special-1980?utm_source=rev-ios-app&utm_medium=ios-share&utm_campaign=listing&utm_content=76642388
  17. Perhaps a more rudimentary take on the guitar monkey grip? I also hadn't spotted the genius idea of reversing the pots so your controls are easily accessible from the back. Why didn't I think of that on my recent renovation....
  18. I can’t decide what I like most about that horror. Is it the extra peg aimlessly plonked on the top of the headstock in such a similar shade to the other pegs that you’d never know it was added or the practically invisible neck shim?
  19. No nibbles at £40 so reduced to £30. The clear out has started and I found this control plate in my spares bag. I can’t recall what bass it came from but have a feeling I replaced one of my basses with an East pre so this was surplus to requirements. CTS pots, cloth wiring. Perfect working order. Will post anywhere.

  20. Up for sale is this Hipshot A style bridge which is string through, top loading, Fender fitment with adjustable string spacing. Great bridges but I prefer Hipshot kickass bridges. Having weighed it in it looks like it’s an aluminium version as it’s 135g without screws. Will post anywhere. Thanks for looking.
  21. Sold pending payment. Up for sale as is this immaculate Geddy Lee signature high mass 4 string bridge. This was off my USA Geddy Lee jazz but I replaced it with a Hipshot as I prefer them on all my basses. Will post anywhere.
