1. Any ideas what model number it could be? I'd like to do a little research and find out how old it is etc
2.
No sale here ?! Moving topic .
Sorry, was unsure where to post this. Thanks for putting it in the right place
3. Hi everyone, Just looking for some insight into a bass I could potentially buy. It's a Tune Bass Maniac. EMG pickups (a P style and a J style), Brass nut and looks like an Ebony fretboard. It's go a natural finish. Has anyone had any experience with these and how much would a fair price be?
4. Well, British Music Strings which was based in Cardiff. The instruments were imported from Korea, inspected and sold. The operation went belly up long ago. They're not uncommon, you see quite a few in cash generators and car boots around the South Wales area. Not particularly well made guitars, but a lot better than the old 'Axe' brand they used to seel in the back pages of Kerrang years ago.
5. They use polaroid lenses. One is horizontal and the other is vertical.
6.
Great bass sound, probably due to Armand Van Helden's involvement. He seems to love fuzz bass tones lately, & who can blame him!
How come you never see girls like that in rock videos anymore? Shame!
7.
Trace rig for 300 sovs? Strikes me as a pretty good deal. BTW I am in no way affiliated with the seller. Just thought I'd better point that out!
Cracking rig, shame I haven't got the space for it at the moment!
8. Do you think I'd be able to get that sound by using a load of compression and possibly my old Marshall Guvnor pedal?
9. Thanks for the tips. How much would it set me back to get one of those pedals?
10. Been listening to 'Bonkers' by Dizzee Rascal. I love the strange sound they used on the bass line. I'm not sure how it's achieved so does anyone out there know?
11. Looks very Sid Vicious. Not worth anywhere near that! I'd give him £50 anyday for it though
12. GREAT basses the Italia. Got two Maranello Classics due to a certain Mr Wire, not only do they look good but they sound and play fantastically. Good luck with the sale, hope someone snaps this up - can't get em anymore, so grab it while you can!
13.
Ashdown Superfly ? This one .... http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?ID=156 That has two separate power amp outputs - 2 x 250 Watts into 4 ohms. That means you can attach a 4 ohm cabinet to each of the speaker and get 250 Watts. Since it's a solid state amp, you can safely attach a higher impedance cabinet (e.g. 8 ohms) but you'll get a bit less power. Don't attach anythingh less than 4 ohms, though. The guitar amp is a valve amp so you MUST attach the correct impedance cabinets to the speaker outputs or you risk damaging the output transformer (expensive !).
Cheers for that, I really couldn't get my head around it. When I get a chance to open up my cab I'll post up how it's wired, the two speakers are Eminence LE10-50s, 8ohms from what I've read. Thanks very much for the help.
14. The bass head is the Ashdown Superfly, I've read that it runs at 10 ohms which really confused me. The guitar head is the Blackheart Handsome Devil, modified by Rat Valve Amps - has a selectable impedance switch on the back for 4, 8 and 16 ohms.
15. I also have an 8ohm 1000 watt monitor speaker that I intend to use as a cab for a bass head. The head runs at 10 ohms and 500 watts, so would this monitor be safe to use?
16.
the cab will either be 4 or 16 ohms depending on how you wired it and you just want the head to match the ohmage of the cab.
Ok if I upload a pic of the wiring would you be able to tell what ohmage it is? From what I guess it's one input to the two speakers. Basically it's an old Peavey 2x10 cabinet I got given by a family friend, it's been upgraded with eminence speakers.
17. Hi, This is going to sound pretty dumb but I've got a cabinet with 2 x 10 inch speakers running at 8ohms and 75 watts a piece. Does this make the cab run at 150 watts total? Also is the ohmage 8? I've bought a new 6 string head with an ohmage selector and don't want to end up blowing the cab/head. Also I have a head that runs ar 10 ohms, could I safely use this with the cabinet mentioned?
18. Speaking as one of the younger members off BC I can safely say I'm grateful that I play guitar/bass these days based on the sheer amount of good quality gear available for decent money. I learnt my craft myself, with a lot of time spent listening to musicians and trying to emulate. I find it sad to hear about these kids who lack any effort, I put enough in and I still can't play fast crazy guitar solos haha. I can however copy by ear
19. It's a distinct possibility, It's a really nice looking bass but I've only ever seen it at odd angles haha
20. Anyone got an idea of where I can get some good detailed shots of it?
21.
Cheers mate. I've heard of your band, seen them advertised gigs etc. I think I may have even been to a few gigs where you did the support but I've never actually heard or seen your band live or on record before. Just had a listen. Mate, I'm really impressed and believe me, when it comes to punk I am one of the hardest people to please as there seems to be a never ending supply of punk bands that sound like a bag ladies period.
Cheers man. Means a lot when people gives us props for what we do. Sadly there's a lot of 'punk' bands out there that really shouldn't be calling themselves punk! I've been lucky, I've only been playing for the boys since Feb and I've been able to share the stage with The Subs, Sham, ANL and the Fingers, it's something I have a lot of pride in. If you wanna see some live stuff just click the little link in my sig, I put up a good quality multi camera live vid the other day.
22.
I used to own Ace's 3p/u '69 black Gibson Les Paul Custom, in it's original case, but I sold it on.... What 'Axe' have you ordered? The official 'Gene Simmons axe' or a custom build project?
Wow! Is that the 'Rocket' guitar? It's a custom built thingamybob. I can't afford the real thing and even if I could I'd be afraid to play it!
23. Yeah, I hope they didn't pay too. It's an absolute dream to own a bit of 'KISStory' especially one of the stage used guitars. On a similar note I'm rather happy as I've just recieved some pics of the Axe bass I ordered! I'm am more than happy, especially how much it set me back
24. It just seems to be the biggest waste of wood and guitar parts I've ever seen. Why would anyone buy that? I mean seriously?... people would actually laugh if you gigged it
25. Nevermind an osteopath I dread to think how much a luthier would charge to set the thing up and tuning stability is a frightening concept!
