  1. Yes, would be keen on getting one of those. I assume it is basically the SY1 with presets?
  2. If I wanted a 24 fret 5 string Jazz, I would have got a second hand maruszczyk Elwood L, there are plenty of those around on the sale pages. - edited as I wrote Maruschyk, and then did a search and realised every post with that spelling was wrong, and also, mine on the PC (if I write it on the mac I just type mzk and it fills it out)!
  3. I love the argon, although I haven't been doing much synth work at the moment. It seems really well built although I suspect the Cobalt would be a bit more accessible as it is easier to picture what you want on an analogue synth layout rather than the wavetable.
  4. Pickup change?
  5. Not really, its a factual statement (I assume) about how he found the shuker basses. Some people don't get on with some basses. I have had that feeling with a couple other makes (that are not relevent here) I love my shuker bass, and the one I had before that would have been good except the string spacing was too high (which to be fair, I knew when i got it, but it was a bargain!). In fact, all my basses are there because I love them. I love the looks of the ACGs, Overwaters, dingwalls but never really got on that much with them (although I am sure there is an ACG out there which i would love), which is down to me. I love the looks of the Alphers but not had a chance to try one, and before buying i would want to try one. Which proves we are all different and trying one out is not a bad plan. Harder with custom ones but if you are going to sink a few k into something, its worth seeking an example out that is close to what you were looking for, although be aware that with a custom bass they can differ drastically. These forums are full of expensive custom basses that someone who thought about it long enough to sink money into didn't get on with in the end.
  6. No, but I have the 215s sat in a bag as a backup in case my KZ ZS10 earphones that I got from eBay for £25 ever got nicked and I couldn't get a replacement.
  7. Quite a brave decision, although with the current shipping issues probably makes sense.
  8. They start in the same ballpark as the others. Possibly the difference is less actual flexability in that there are just a couple of actual shapes to do. I did spec one up for myself, and maybe one day!
  9. Sounds like the best plan. It is a big commitment and by giving some of them a try you can find out what really works for you and what doesn't. That is very far from the truth. Although there are some amazing amater woodworkers that can do professional work (including a few on here), there is nothing amaturish about ACG instruments.
  10. I think if it was me I would probably want to go to some bass guitar show where representative instruments were at. The bass guitar show in london was the one where I saw the shuker I have now and played some of the ACGs (although I had an ACG, it wasn't really representative).
  11. He could look at Alphers too if he wanted to. If you start spreading the initial post it can get quite wide, but he did specifically ask about shukers and ACGs.
  12. I love my shuker and I haven't gelled with that many ACGs, but I will say that the pickups that ACG make are better than pretty well anything else, couldn't say anything bad about them, plus he does his individual coil pickups with the dual filter preamp, which is something I would really love to try (but doubtless never be able to afford!).
  13. Indeed - if everyone has the same expectations that would be fine. Up until now I wouldn't personally want to be practicing for nothing. We have just had a change of guitarists and now it is going to take a while, but the intention is gigging ASAP.
  14. So can you edit anything other than the VCF and overall patches from Midi? It doesn't list them in the implimentation list (but there isn't an implimentation chart in the manual). I presume you can seeing as the editor is only connected via midi anyway?
  15. I only listed my British stuff, as that's what I replied to but most of my basses are now from Indonesia, most of my guitars will be from korea (as they are older). I suspect all the other amps are Chinese, and the effects pedals.
  16. Well, this spurred me on to try connecting the editor. Connected the midi, turned everything on, nothing (but quite a lot of digital noise). Tried to get the ports of a midisport air to connect, but still nothing. Used a midi monitor was getting a channel change message from the FI when I pressed the footpedal. Checked the midi leads, they were fine. Generally the FI Editor would just lock up if you tried to do anything and without reading the manual it was very confusing what it was trying to do, except if you went to the manager (would be nice if this wasn't a menu, but whatevs!), if you click a preset (which was grey), that was it you couldn't do anything after that, apart from quit. Also if you went to the directory and selected remote login, but didn't have a login, you also had to quit as you can't get back from there. Almost gave up! Tried a different interface, the midisport 4x4. Didn't work, remembered it actually had to have a driver, installed driver, driver didn't work, system to late, downloaded one from github, installed it. Yay, actually appears and now I can connect and all is fine. With a midi interface working ok, connecting and going to the manager loads all the presets, and as I had signed up with an account online as I wanted a way of not having to quit when I pressed that button, I had access to those too. Loaded some presets and played the tracks they went with (Clothes off worked really well), seemed like I had got somewhere, but taken a while getting there so had to go and do other things. Next time I get a chance at least I will be able to do a bit more and the manual will be more use from here on in!
  17. You don't really need to have video skills, just record some short videos showing various things, just as a static video, that would be useful. There are videos reviewing it, there are videos showing the sounds, but there are no real videos showing how to do anything with it.
  18. Its not high on the list of my worries, but actually, the a few gigs ago I played live I played a Shuker bass into an Ashdown CTM100 into a BC112 amp, using leads made by some guy on ebay in Sheffield, so if you ignore the Helix HX FX pedal, yes, it was all British. So as others have said, it is not something I really care that much about, but turns out a lot of my gear is british. The CTM has now gone, replaced with an ABM600 (which I assume isn't built in the UK but by a UK company), and the last bass I bought was british too!
  19. I found out from wedding rings about mine!
  20. Thats pretty impressive by their standards!
  21. I am alergic to nickel too, but obviously not as badly as you - just makes my skin go dark when I have played for a while.
  22. Well, people liked it at the SW bass bash. We do workshops too, although it might be a little bit of a jog for you! Do a local one and record it.
  23. Yes, I had mine in my home setup, although it is fair to say it has quite a pop when you turn it on when it is all on one power strip. There isn't any room for it on my gigging strip and until I have some presets there is no point having it there, so yes, home is the best option.
  24. Who wants subtle on a Chapman Stick And also that is the best of them - the humbrol gold separated trying to paint the others. I also haven't cleaned the edges yet
  25. OK, finally tried it with the enamel pain, gold humbrol. It is pretty lifeless. I think I might pick up some acrylic. It won't last as well but it is a lot brighter!
