1. They are great basses. I played with one and sound great. After that i ordered a Frog, and its simply amazing. The neck is simply the best one i,ve played my entire life. It plays like butter, very easy and amazing. You can got for it without any problem! Contact adrian if you want any type or costumization on any model. Regards
2. Hello everyone In my opinion route for a custom bass don't have to do just about tone.. at least for me. There could be other aspects to have in consideration. For example in my case, e sold my G&L an dmy ATK, not because the sound (which i love both), but because of the weight, the G&L weights 10.5lb and the atk 11lb. Because i suffer from back issues i needed to go for a lighter instument or stop play. so i went for the fist option, sold both and gon for a custom made maruszczyk, that now weight just 8lb and is much more confortable to play and even more balance in weight. That weight with the addicion of a padded 3.5inch strap, it simply like a feather, and my "impression" that it just don't exist any instrument there
3. And here is my frog I simply love it!
4. hehehe, how i understand you Well, for me exist good news. After almost 3 months, mine arrives tuesday Unfortunatly, with musikmesse, it took 1 week more. But.. by the picture Adrian sent me, i'm very happy with the final result.. now lets hope it will sound has good as it looks @Mike2tone: What strap do you have on that picture? It looks good. I'm thinking of buying a new one.
5. Hello, Here you go. I've started with this.. but then i have started to tweak a bit more (for my personal taste). http://www.glguitars.com/faq/GLmanual.pdf Hope it helps
6. IT simply don't power up? No lights? No nothing? Or it doesn't pass sound? Some problem with the cable that connects to the cab? Did you switch on the back for 110V or kept the 230? (it automaticly fries the internal module. had read that somewhere on the Talkbass). Try also to connect, through the Headphone input, and see if it pass sound to the phones. Do you have the manual? (you can download from the internet). Good luck with it
7. Any news of the delivery of them?
8. HEllo I have also a streamliner. About the simtons you report, probably can be the preamp valve (i guess is the V1) starting to die. I read a lot about that and its the first thing to do, is change for a new one. 95% of the times resolve the problem. Regards
9. hehe. Congratulations 10 weeks will pass fast (or maybe not..) The first 2 will be the most difficult. I'm passing through the 6 week. hehe. I'm happy.. appear 1 photo on FB of a piece of my future bass Got even more ansious hehehe
10. mike2tone, That is winderful. Im not (very) fan of those type of woods (burls and buckeyes) but that all together is sweet Tell us what do you thing about it, and post some photos
11. Hehe, How i understand you.. I placed an order in beginning february, and have to control de GAS until April.. but its difficult I have already played with an elwood and it was so nice on confort and playability, that i went for a Maruszczyk bass, based on all the quality vs price payed.
12. This is my Rig for about a year and love it. I had a Carvin Rig (BX1200 + RL210 + RL115 = Alot of weight), that swap for a lighter one. The result is this: A GB Streamliner 600 and 2 GB Focus 112. Around 32lb each cab and with a greeaaattt sound.
13. Hello. About this. I have put an order for a costum one. It would be a Frog 5. I choose all the woods, hardware, electronics, pickups and custom ideas for it. It has been a person to reach very easy (adrian). It gave me around 8 to 10 weeks to make it. I have already played with one, and its very nice instrumets. Its a brand that don't have a "fender" name, but it don't mean that can be equally good or even better. Since its a "single person" brand, the advertisig or brand "propagation" will be with persons that know, or play with their instruments. When mine arrive, i'll put some photos of it Regards
14. Thank you. Yes my main concern is actually the weight, thats why i just focus the abz series. My idea of bass finish is the natural with wenge fretboard and luminlay dots for dark venues. I really like the sound of that. Thats why i felt in a very interess/gas feeling hehe. About the g&l, yes. It sound very good and with a good construcion and sound. Its my main bass since 2007, and i use 95% with the same setup (both pu, series, active, 80%Bass and treble). Its the sound i like most of it.. About try out.. Well, i would love to, but need to go to england. In Portugal it doesn't exist. And it is a bit high price and need availability. One of my biggest fears is about the sound, if it is clean an sterile with no caracter or if it cut throught the mix well, because spend a lot of money in a instrument and doesn't sound well, its what i don't want. The G&L is good with the PA, but for example my ex Yamaha TRB105 it sound completly.. Meehh , no life no presence and no chatacter. Hated so much and desapointed me, that i traded with the atk (MM sound style) Now have saw the maruszczyk elwood basses and they also are light.. Could be other option..and cheaper. But it sound more of the same other basses.. well :S Regards
15. Hello everyone. Thank you for your impressions about the bass. I honestly just know what sound throught the Youtube. The main reason to settle by this, is about the weight. Then, hear about a little more, and honestly impressed a lot. Unfortunatly im from Portugal, and here simply doesnt exist.. i believe that one day i have to go to england, at bass direct to try it. :s Since my amp is a streamliner it has an imput stage with valves, and it sound very good. Also, i thinkiing meanwhile to get a preamp/di not just for this, but actually to use with my G&L that goes "dry" to the FOH, and with this can give a little of "wet/post eq/amps simulation) and with this probably mix it. About the youtube videos it looks like that it doesnt sound sterile at all (just for my ears..) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GC_KQ2Fo18 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bmfOSD_Jjc (starting 5mim) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fbfLBkSqXU For who have them, can help me if it sounds something like this? I have other option, that is the NG2, but is havier and i don't know its sounds like :S Regards
16. Hello Everyone, and a new year Im writing, because i put in my head that i want to this year upgrade and jump for a new instrument level. Actually i have a G&L tribute L2500, which i like the sound a lot, so i was thinking on upgrading for a US L2500 version, but... ...I have read a lot about the dingwalls, here and over the talkbass, and i look like great basses, mainly the B string, wich i quite use a lot. Over this im thinking on them. Over both, what to chosse? Im mainly play rock/hard rock, and also funk, blues, and tradicional music (Portuguese, african and brazilian). Mainly, im looking for a multiporpose instrument. I looked at the ABZ, witch is the lightest ones, (i have back problems, so this is the other reason for changing) passive ones, and this can give the option of add an otboard preamp if wanted (Tone hammer, Tech21, Sad, and so). I looked for the NG2 model to, but the colors, well.. tastes.. but apart of that, the main reason, is sound and confort/playability. So, what to go?? I play throught a GB Streamliner 600 and 2x 12" focus Thank you all.
17. The DJ5 and the 55-02 for this table please That DJ5 colors is one of my favorite (simple and yet perfect) jazz finishes "marks", and the 55-02 is (to me) the best alternative burst, along wth the Tobacco burst, to the 3TSB that i don't like.. its to mehh.. (my opinion).
18.
I had a SR5 and a few years latter got my hands on a Japanese ATK305 so i have to say that you should consider changing your mind about this EDIT: currently don't own any of those because of the same issue - they're heavy as hell!!! - but the ATK had the SR vibe, only... more!
The Atk305 of Ghost Bass Its in my hands now. What a bass About its voice and sound defenetly is a war machine with that growl and presence, and( to me) it has more punch than a SR. The sound and tone is all there, with an alternative design. Its a fact about the weight (around 10/11 lb). And it sound so so huge and powerful with my GB streamliner thanks to the valve pre amp. If you find some, don't turn around. Try it, believe me
19. hello. You can run it as a simple DI with no problem. I did it sometimes with mine as well, and even on the manual it sais that you can drive it w/o cabs. Regards
20. I look in youtube for them. Seems interesesting... but.. ...I confess this is a new world for me :S - How can i make the sound? Listen from the stage mixer what it sound? Or by the headphones? - My bass is active and hot (GL L2500). it is better to play it in passive mode because the internal preamp? I will have to found someone near me with one of this little things to see how it works. The streamliner pre eq DI out is what you call of "Dry Signal"? This, compare to it, is like pass it to post EQ? But, will this have one type of sound, that probably is good to me, but mad for the FOH sound guy? help :S please?
21. Thank you for your input. Bassically the proDI is the model below that one. For the pursose (simply send the signal to the DI) will be enought, is what i make actually with my amp (in a pre eq mode). IS what i want basiclly The other option, instead of a DI, is to keep running my amp (streamliner 600) without any cab, witch is possible, and send through the DI the signal in a Pre eq, and send to me through a FX Send for a small mixer, and receive there the stage monitor and mix to me. Hmm.. i will search about them.. i don't know how they work...
22. thank you all, I mainly play (for now) with the amp DI, but my future ideia is to go ampless, witch means, conenct the bass to the DI, and send directy throught the DI to the FOH, and use de monition on stage to lead me. We use a 30mt (100ft) cable to go from the stage to FOH. I don't use any pedals, is the basse directy. My idea is to also prevent, because im selling the atk to go for a lakland DJ5 (passive) and keep also the G&L (active). thank you
23. Hello, I have one doubt, and hope that someone can help me. I have read about di Box, and i am almost decided to a Radial DI. Now, i have one doubt, that is, will i go for a passive or active? I am heading for the Radial PRODI or the PRO48 . Normally, they say to apply the thumb rule, witch ok to me. I play (now) with a G&L with have a very hot output, so for this wil go throught a passive DI. But in a future if i go with a passive bass, then will probably need to by an active di. So, what i want to question those who use them, can i run my G&L with an active DI and aplly the -15db to turn down the signal, and instead of buy 2 di, only have 1 active, that (hope) will suit for both? I hit the strings with a relative low force, so i believe that won't have problem, but i would like to know more information. Thank you all
24. Nothing wrong. on the contrary.. i think its simply a GAS sindrome.. hope to pass soon
25. Hello all, Thank you for your inputs. Yes, i believe i'm passing throught a GAS temporarilly. In this moment i use 96% the GL, and the ATK appear from a trade i wasn't waiting, but did like it. Now the other side is that the ATK is becoming more rare, so possiblie will be like an investment to the future. :S The other hand, with the GL i have it for 8 years and its like my all time buddy, so there exist a emotional sentiment associated. To seel both, i will have to get more +- 500euros to get a 55-02 new, witch is a lot for me... I guess, i will try to resist to this.. BAHH
