1. Sorry Ian, No offence intended! Just I'm a cheap skate, and not to mention skint out here in Sunny Cape Town, So i thought it was worth an ask! Unfortunately my name is not Gina, And I'm way too big! 112KG's and 6'2"ish! Damn! Back to the drawing board! Any new builds on the horizon? I don't think I saw the final fits of those J basses you made?? Cheers Big Gazz!
2. Oh, and heres what the body looked like when I bought it off Mr Phsyco Andy! Cheeers! Big G!
3. Well, heres the pics..... As for the name, I thought the body shape kinda reminded me of a Lakland, so I thought I'd try be really clever and combine the names so the choice was either SHukland or Laker..... So Shukland it is! Hope that works?? Haven't loaded up any pics in yonks! Cheers Big G!
4. Well, It won't be till next June, and will only be for a week or two, but I am looking forward to it! I may get the bass shipped out here before then, but we'll see how finances work out?? Till tomorrow! Cheers Big G!
5. Well, its not made it out to Cape Town yet, but my new beast has been delivered to my Folks awaiting me to fly over and pick it up, but heres the details! I bought a body off of Physco andy around a year ago, and asked Mr Shuker to build a neck for it! After some delays and confusions, its finally made its way to my folks! The spec is as follows..... Basswood body (Cheap Chinese Factory knockout body) Flamed maple top Flamed maple Shuker designed One piece neck Birdseye Board Kent Armstrong Soapbars Aguilar OBP-3 preamp Gotoh Tuners (I think?) ABM mono bridge pieces Can't say what it plays like as I've not gotten me grubby mitts on it yet, but me dad says it looks the part! Jon Shuker himself said it sounds and plays fantastic! I have to dissapear now, but I'll get a pic or two posted tomorrow! I also got a Cort Curbow 4 string fretless in the past month, so I'll try and get some pics of that up too! Cheers Big G!
6. Hey Chop! I love that body man! You know that falls right into my favourite wood catagory! Would have it off you in a jiffy if I had 100 quid handy! Don't suppose I can pay you in kind?? lol!! If I can muster summut together, I'll let you know! And if you decide to lower the price anymore, please do let me know! Cheers Bud! Big G!
7. Hey man, is this cab still going? I'd be surprised?? But interested! Consider a trade for a 5 string bass? Cheers Big G!
8. Hey man, Any chance of you parting with the DTR 1000 seperately? I'm looking for one of them! Let me know? Cheers Big G!
9.
OBP-3 preamp - £25 SD MM preamp - £25
Hey man! Any pics of the pre's? I'm assuming the OBP-3 is the Aguilar? May well take that off your hands?? PM on the way! Cheers Big G!
10. If it costs more than 500 quids at the mo, then I can't afford it! Even then, I'd have to get it past the wife! Maybe once the mortgage is paid off? Cheers Big G!
11. Hey, I guess I just like the strings to go straight on to the Tuners, rather than hitting acute angles. I've always thought that the tuning and intonation seems more stable when its a straight path inline from the bridge to the tuners? But to answer your question, I'd like a n all Maple thru neck 10 string (Octaved 5 string)! Wish I could afford one! Oh well, maybe in a few years if Mr Shuker doesn't get my money first? Still, I'm sure you are more than happy with that beaut? I could live with the string angles with a bass that good looking! Cheers Big G!
12. Hey Man! I really like the body shape! Thats a stunning bass! Not too keen on the headstock tho! Guess each to their own? I'm seriously impressed with the size of that Board for the 9 string bass! Woo! Couldn't play that thing I don't think? I'll just stick to 5 or 6, or maybe 8 or 10 (although that'd be octaved!)? Cheers Big G!
13. Sorry, Hadn't seen your reply OBBM! Oh well! Go with dayglo Orange plate! Cheers Big G!
14. I'd go with the white perloid! I used to have a metallic Purple Stingray and the white Perloid plate really made it look like an expensive bass! Think it adds a hint of quality and depth! Cheers Big G!
15. I've not tried the Old Markbass gear, but I think a lot of questions can be answered by what you are partnering your amp with? If the cab you run the amp thru is not up to par, then you can expect it to not sound great! What cab(s) do you run it thru? I'm running an LMII thru a Tech Sound 4x12". I sometimes add an EA 10" cab to it, and there is quite a lot of difference in tone. Hope this helps a little? Cheers Big G!
