1. No-one ever wants to be a defender... thats ridiculous... it would be like growing up dreaming of being a bass player instead of a guitarist... oh hang on...
2.
When playing football I was always a defender ...
I was always a defender for the same reason anyone is a defender..... I wasn't good enough to be a midfielder or a forward.
3. Feeling a stingray craving today..... anyone got one for trade? 4 or 5...
4.
Hi Rob How about a Sandberg California VM5 in great nick its up on here. I will throw in a new gig bag or hard case your preference and £150 delivered as i know where you are Lol wish i had never sold Candy !
I've seen that sandberg up... I'm looking for sixers really. I'm not really sure I want to lose the jazz to be honest... just strugling to find a time I'd use it over my sixers. Although Mrs C wants me to keep it as it looks great
5.
I have no real preference either way and just judge each bass on its own merits....
You can't do that! That's not in the BC spirit at all.... You have to chose a brand of bass (preferably one you've never played) and declare at every opportunity that it's so much better than everything else if you don't own one you might as well give up playing...
6.
At risk of being accused of fanboi-ism and cheerleading, Barefaced cabs are very light and very loud. Not budget at their new prices for sure, but they do appear second hand from time to time.
Pipe down with the cheerleading fanboi.....
7.
Surely it all depends on what you're in it for? I'm closer to 60 than 50, I have a career (most of which is now behind me), and absolutely no wish to start a new career as a struggling, under-appreciated musician! For me, music is about fun. I play in as many bands as I can handle - all in my spare time, of course - and in as many ways as possible. And it's fun. In the (astonishing) amount of time I've spent on Basschat, I've come to realise what a broad spectrum is out there, and how many people are unhappy with where they sit on that spectrum. I'm just delighted to be where I am ...
Exactly this... although unfortunatly I suspect much of my working life is ahead of me....
8. I find it astonishing how clueless some people are with gear... cranking everything up to ten then wondering why it breaks or sounds sh*t. I wonder how these people have managed to get to adulthood without electrocuting themselvs trying to play bass in the bath or something....
9. oh I see... thanks chaps.. I guess I'm a bit out of touch these days.
10. What's a ched?
11. I dunno if their age has anything to do with it, they just sound like a couple of tossers to me... I'd imagine they will still be tossers when they are middleaged.
12. Thanks gents... I'll give them both a tweak to the right tonight. I'd imagine it makes sence to adjust them both the same amount? don't really want one exerting more pressure than the other, sounds like twisty neck territory that.....
13. Hi all, I need to tweak the truss rod in my Spector sixer only there appears to be two rods in there... Presumably they both operate in the same direction? ie. clockwise to tighten?
14. Have a go on a sixer...
15. Bump... Any nice sixers out there for a trade?
16.
Custom Keith Roscoe with RMC piezo 13 pin midi systems. BassHappy
They're lovely, not seen them before.... Now I've got GAS... again....
17. It's difficult isn't it.. I think our idea of what we want our bass to sound like changes over the years. You might get rid of the streamer now only to find in a couple of years time it's that tone that your looking for again.... The thing with getting rid of the P is you'll be able to pick up something similar sounding for not alot.... the streamer may prove difficult to get hold of at a later date... Ideally get the G&L and keep all the others
18.

What are they? they're beautiful...
19. I've just posted this elsewhere but it's kinda relevent here too.
Thinking about it... Maybe it would be a good idea for us all to have a thread somewhere on BC for bands to search for bass players in their area. It would have to follow a simple structure to be searchable by the forums software something like. Username : CamdenRob Location : London NW1 Genres : Blues, Electro, Icelandic Throat Singing etc... Available for new projects : Yes Youtube / Soundcloud clip : www.???? Basically a little Bio of all our members. Don't want too many fields or it'll become unwieldly, plus no-one cares what gear people have or how old they are...If everyone posted in that thread a band could search keywords and return a set of matches for people in their area....
21.
I can find drummers at the drop of a hat, it's guitarists and vocalists in particular I can never find.
I'll trade you a vocalist (OHSC, passive, light relic) for a drummer with cash your way?
22. Why is it always drummers that are so hard to find? far fewer people must play drums than other instruments or it wouldn't be so difficult to find a good one....
