1. Can you keep your negotiations to yourselves please chaps. ped
2.
In all honesty? Yes. I've done it before with Genz Benz. I just find it a more constructive and civil way to do things.
Whilst saying you will post a thread about poor service/goods on BC is actually now a substantial threat to any company, there is no rule saying you have to contact the company first - and this is no exception. It sounds like several opportunities arose for the situation to be rectified, and I guess Alex would have expected something to have been said on BC when the customer felt unfairly treated. Good review and quite measured, given the frustration this has caused. Hopefully things will be put right (behind the scenes) and we can all learn from it. After my last public BC complaint, Roland have even put people who can read in their warehouses, so it does work. ped
3. Thanks for the heads up - his account will be frozen ASAP. ped
4.
That fretless is very handsome. I like Vigier basses. There was a blue beauty in that shop in Colchester last year.
Thanks - it really is a special bass but I haven't been playing it so much recently. Sometimes it's all I play for ages, though. Come to think of it, apart from earlier this evening, when I had a great jam, I haven't played much bass at all in the last few weeks!
5. Thanks! I'm still playing with the camera and with basically no light in the lounge I had to use ISO3200 as I have no tripod! The pic of Aryton I took myself too - though I took a picture of a picture in a book and blew it up!! ped
6. Here are my planks on the sofa... I have neatly cropped the wine stain out of the picture (with the other stains) ped
7.
Hi Here are two pics, if you are interested I will take more and give you an unbiased view of the bass. Just been playing it again and it is just like butter! Best wishes, George ([email protected])
Very nice indeed. What year is it? Or the serial number? It seems like there are a few Vigier owners on here now - perhaps we need our owh thread so we can shape our piccies!!! Definitely interested in more pics of this one... ped
8. That's cool. I just mailed the editor to chase up the subscriptions people won at the bash....
9. Cool tune and nice playing - I'm off to play along myself!! ped
10. I sold that whole bass on, with the bits attached. I think the mute and cover were removed by the next owner, but can't remember!!
11.
I still think that Bacchus is the best looking bass ive ever seen Ped!
Cheers - it sounded fantastic, too. There's a track on my site with it.
12. Good call - but it's a bit hit and miss (not always even across the strings) and looks crap - and it's something else to lose. I think the Bassmute is a bit steep, but if you save money by buying other things wisely (like avoiding the smoke and mirrors claims of some bass cabinets and so on) then for something that just works and is a solid simple piece of kit, then it is worth it in relative terms! ped
13. Yeah I used to have one on my Jazz bass Really cool piece of kit (though pretty expensive - I didn't pay full price!) I would have one on my vig but there isn't any room unfortunately Cheers ped
14. Thanks mate!! As I said in my reply, they got my name wrong and chose an odd photo, but still!! Cheers ped
15. Aye I would really like to see it - can someone PM me a scan? I won;t be able to get the mag until the weekend. ped
16. Type this to make it appear - [youtoob]UjObcEoEMa0[/youtoob] ...but spell youtube correctly!! Basically you are putting the bit after the '=' in the link in between the brackets and voila!! Just edited your post for you ped
17.
By the time I found what I believe was the 'Basschat stand' it was a table pushed up against the wall with about 10 tee's on it... so I'm guessing I was a bit late! :-) I agree that Randy is not a 'solo' kind of player. But look at youtube... you can see what he is capable of with a little prep!!!
Probably early if anything - I didn't arrive until 4.30 and wasn't really able to get a 'stand' as such sorted!! Next year it'll be all singing and dancing, believe me. Just been a bit off the pulse recently and didn't really get anything sorted. Poor effort on my part. But I enjoyed the show!! ped
18. Really sorry I missed so many baschatters - I waved at a few, like Mark and Russ, meaning to come and chat when I was done with what I was doing, but with all the noise it was hard to hold a convo!! Cheers ped
19.
cheers ped! its our drummers moment of glory cos he gets to do lead vocals on that track
Yeah I really like the song, listened to it several times... I'll check out the others this eve! ped
20.
The first question i asked when i started going to lessons was "how should i set up my bass for slap". My tutors reply was "how do you want to set up your bass" i think what he was trying to get at is you set it up how it feels comfortable for you. There is no right or wrong way. Have a play about, try different things. Personally i dont like roundwounds for slap. Takes away some of the "zing" IMO. I have a relatively low action and use D'addario. 45-105 gauge i think. Thats what i had for the EP i recorded (website below) and it works for me. The song called Funk Shui has a slap line
Groovy tune!
21.
was keeping an eye out for Ped but didnt see him
Hi mate I was there with my brother but didn't manage to get there until about 4.45 (just in time for Poogie Bell) and had to leave right after Nathan East, so really didn't get a chance to speak to anyone much unfortunately... apologies to everyone I briefly met en route to the theatre and so on, but I nodded at a few people at least!! Congratulations and thanks to all involved in putting on quite a show for us UK bass players - a truly wonderful event and tremendously supported by everyone. Let's hope it continues for many years. How did we do without it?? ped
