The only major currency that has weakened against sterling in the past year is the Yen. So Japanese instruments should be coming down in price quite appreciably. MIJ or CIJ Fenders should be opening up a big gap in terms of affordability vs US made. Also Japanese manufacturers such as Ibanez should be getting cheaper.
Definately the case with Ibanez. I bought an RG2550Z guitar 3 years ago for £800. 12 - 18 months ago the price was a grand, now its back down to £850. Maybe i should have a look at a Japenese Fender P instead. My other two Fenders are CIJ and they are great instruments.

I've had one of these for about 15 years and it was my first half decent bass after my Encore P copy starter bass. I've been surprised at how little it has held its value over the years. For a USA made neck thru body bass i would have thought it would be worth more than the £200 or so that they seem to make second hand. Mine currently needs the pick ups and bridge putting back on (i had grand ambitions of upgrading it but never got round to it) and i was considering selling it, but once it has had a set up and new strings etc it doesnt really seem worth bothering for the amount it would make. Has anyone else had one of these or had experience with one? What do/did you think of it. I've had a good look round here and on the net but can't find a great deal of info about them. So can only assume they were not too popular. Edit: Well, here she is! Retrieved from my parents house. I am going to attempt to get her up and running again. Needs a new nut, the pickups reseating and a good clean. I'm optimistic that all the electronics still work! Hopefully will be gigging with it soon

Not a bad gig for us on saturday at the duke of wellington near boston. Interesting pub in the middle of nowhere by a caravan park. A very drunk chap at the end kept shouting that we should go on x factor and that simon cowell would "definately" sign us up. Quite flattering really but im not sure if mr cowell is looking to add an ageing rock covers band to his roster

Strange that Fender finish their cashback offer one day and increase prices the next. A new USA standard P hass effectively gone up £125 overnight
-
well i had a look in the shop and the usa standard p was still £1,076, so maybe its just new orders that have gone up. didnt get chance to speak to the guy in the bass dept about it though as someone was trying out an electric double bass at ear bursting volumes!

Is it just me, or have the prices of Fender basses gone up today? I've just been looking at GAK and the USA standards seems to have gone up by £50ish (not including the Fender cashback offer they were running). The USA standards are £1,121 now and I'm sure they were "only" £1,076 over the weekend, should have ordered one then Off to the shop this afternoon so I'll see what they say there.

Haven't seen the SPB-4 on sale anywhere yet. I've tried the SPB2 and 3 and didn't notice a huge difference between the two, so it would be interesting to know if it does sound much different to the other SPB's

Its good value, it also includes the 12 Wasted Years documentary which is worth watching just to see the horrific 80's fashion outfits!!!!! I can get rid of my VHS copy now that I've been keeping for years despite not owning a video player anymore!

I've only giggied with it a couple of times, mainly as its so heavy!!! It's also my "best" bass and I'm keen to keep it in good condition so usually use my Aerodyne for most of our gigs as I don't mind that getting the odd ding.

Managed to get myself a day ticket yesterday to see them at Donington as well later in the year (will be my 12th time seeing them). Has been a good Iron Maiden week for me so far Definately dig out your old VHS and have a watch

Anyone bought the reissued Maiden England DVD this week? I've been watching it this afternoon, what a brilliant gig and what better way to spend a bank holiday Might have to use my Steve Harris signature precision for this weekends gig

If you use a Bass Collection Comfort strap beware
markbunney replied to GreeneKing's topic in Accessories and Misc
I have one of the Comfort Strapps and whilst its really nicely padded, the padding doesn't actually sit on my shoulder so I end up with the plastic digging into me instead Have been looking to get a Mono one instead -
You should look at the Aerodyne jazz. Its really light, looks cool and plays amazingly. Its the best bass ive ever had.
