1. Hahah, sorry brother, I'm from Portugal alright. Not that far, just a 2 hour plane ride for that lovely lady. I was already looking for one locally, but used ones are scarce. German stores as you may have mentioned, are flooded with backorders. I should have the funds for this in a couple of weeks time, I will need to sell a Squier P bass V for this to happen.
2. Severely interested. Just need time to raise the money. Would you ship to PT?
3.
hi, yes, i still have this bass:)
Whats your current bid on it friend?
4.
bump
Woa, do you still have this bass for sale? It's been selling for years.
5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
6. Hey there, if I manage to sell my source Audio envelope filter, would you ship to Portugal? I can offer the source audio in a trade if you have any interest as well. Cheers.
7. The biggest changes will be effects wise, I think dubstep opened a new trend for bass sound. We'll probably see more developments into digital, high quality stomps, and the continued rise in quality of lower budget instruments. I can see the asian market booming on middle to high priced instruments as well. some woods will be banned/extinct/replaced by sinthetic alternatives. Hey you never know, 10 years ago I used to wonder when a major brand would release a 7 string bass. Ibanez did that a few months back!
8.
My Squier P is an '89 IIRC. It plays and sounds as nice as most Ps I've tried.
Does the serial start with S9? If so it should be built by Samick. The bass does look good and looks almost identical to jap Squiers, altough I'm not sure on the neck finish. 170 euros is a good price, should drop it a bit.
9. S what's the word on those? I see a lot of good talk, and recently played a japanese Silver Series Squier. All can say is wow, they REALLY don't make them like they used to. But, what about this mode in particular? An S9 (1989 samick produced) Korean Squier P? http://melres.olx.pt/vendo-baixo-fender-squier-precision-bass-iid-440268373 Is the build quality considered inferior on these?
10. I'm guessing that bass is pretty beaten up? Still, a good outsourced luthier could save you some, I guess.
11. It's not two tone, the pictures up on that website are kind of mixed up...the page is rather poor, gladly, the basses are not. USA could "steal" some cool ideas from them, I'd like to see more Geddy Lee quality Fenders for under 1000€
12. I have one of those really close by with a friend. Time to give it a try I guess.
13. http://www.fenderjapan.co.jp/ajb_le.html Just wow.
14. Woa, ain't the SQ basses like, the dinossaurs of all Squier existence?
15. http://valongo-valongo.olx.pt/baixo-iid-438215777 Foggy picture doesn't show the details on the headstock...could this be an old japanese squier?
16. I have not tried one of these, but I'm dead curious....for less than half a price you get an ASH body...versus the "soft maple" used in Vintage Modifieds. I would dare to say that these might come face to face with the Squiers...and those Wilkinson pickups...I've seen people here say that they're OK for the money too. My opinion is biased over the fact that I've caught some really BAD Squiers lately. From poor wood matching, to stains beneath the finish (VM fretless), and scratchy pots. (all this in new in store instruments) I've even picked up a 70's model (the maple fingerboard one) that had the weirdest rough feel on the neck surface...sounded weak and needed some serious tweaking too. Give it a shot, it's still less of a steal.
17. That's the lame part, this a for sale website. The bloke is just auctioning, claiming he has no idea what it's worth. First value was 250 € -_-
18.
for that price i'd be tempted to take a look, the knobs could be original but with all the chrome worn off, if it plays well and sounds good then 650 euros isn't a whole heap of money provided that a fair amount of it is genuine and original, i paid a bit more than that for my modified 77 p-bass because it played well and just felt right. this might be a great player (on the other hand it may be a dog!) if it's local to you then why not talk to the buyer and give it a play? Mat
I was just curious because the price is raising fast, and given the mods it has suffered. Me personally I wouldn't give up the current amount he's asking for it. But it seems some people do.
19.
Without seeing it, difficult to say. The serial number shows: Your guitar was made at the Fullerton Plant (Fender - CBS Era), USA in the Year(s): 1973 - 1974 So in perfect unaltered condition around £2000ish - bit more/bit less etc. But with what you`ve said about the changes, nowhere near this value - seems that possibly only the body and back of the neck is original - if the knobs have been changed, possibly the electrics/pickups as well. If it`s a player, then depends totally on the buyer - whats it worth to them.
It's a real shame it's not mint. Here's the link to the sale: http://portocity.olx.pt/viola-baixo-fender-precision-com-caixa-iid-437985819
20. So there's a guy in Portugal selling a seemingly old P bass, with the serial 384001 engraved. Thing is, the bass seems to carry a lot of tampering with: new fingerboard (seems ebony), (badly) sanded body, not original knobs (golden), from what I can tell. The headstock seems to show it's really old, and so does this serial. What would in your opinion, be a fair price?
21. I wouldn't be surprised if the Patitucci signature would eventually disappear...I mean JP is a master, but marketing wise, not sure if those basses sell enough worldwide nowadays. The Attitude OTOH, seem to grow into a more interesting bass as years go by. (Still, the old 90's models were also a lot of fun, I played the PJ model with bigger headstock, and it is a lively bass.)
22.
Get a BBG5 & put RBX 375 pickups on it. Works great! http://smg.photobuck...010062.jpg.html Why can't I post images like I used to? Oh - I can!! - the one on the right. G.
Geoff, you should really sell the idea to Yamaha! It looks way better than most of the stuff they came out with lately. I'm sorry but the new Yammies sound weakish compared to their old BB lines. I really miss the BB2005, awesome instrument. 90's TRB's were also excellent. Correction: I like the TRB on the photo as well, is this instrument treated with epoxy?
23.
This guy . Why, of course, we should all be playing coffee tables with pylon cables bolted on for more extended range, but that's beside the point really isn't it?
Dude, don't judge things by my profile picture....it's just a picture, of me, holding a friend's bass. I'll even tell you that my current bass could be older than you, likely. I'm not dissing the relics, just dissing capitalism, I guess.
24.
I don't get relicing, but I especially don't get why you'd want a relic that had a brand name stamped on the headstock of a brand that's only been around a few years. Instead of looking potentially old/mysterious/full of mojo (at least I assume that's the goal with relicing) it's simply going to look like it's been abused beyond belief in the short time it's been on this planet. Surely the appeal of having a beat up instrument that looked as if it's old with a story to tell is predominantly aesthetic, and therefore surely a period-correct logo such as Fender is part of that aesthetic?
You're right, but me personally I can't get that from Fender as well. They're overpriced fad tools, that's it. they look cool, but far away from a real old soul. Fender just uses it's history to charge big time for a half-assed, badly baked instrument that could come in the Squier catalog. (It would make more sense.)
25. Meh...Sandberg do better looking relics, and probably cost less.
