1. mid week bumpage. update: price has now been reduced to 3600 Euros!!
2. hahah, you still got me there for a brief moment, until I saw your sig. X-D
3. And the cool thing is, he's not the kind of luthier that grabs on to a design, and then replicates it for years with just the usual fancy wood options. (Not that some designs out there are absolute winning formulas!!) He's always making innovations to his standard designs, just a few days ago he announced some changes to the standard line. But as you can see, you CAN go full custom with him.
4.
That's only 8 strings. What's the 9th string?
D'OH! you're so right, that would be F#BEADGCFBb
5. so what? His Lisbon workshop is gonna be held at a local auditorium. And all seats are booked!
6. I've had some people asking me what bass am I playing in my avatar, (and how many strings it has), well here it is! It's not mine, but from a good friend, I've had a 9 string in the past, from Conklin guitars, my friend Paulo liked the concept so much he jumped in ERB wagon too. it's one of the most comfortable ERBs I have ever tried, with a very jazzy and clear like tone (what we all know as the popular term "jazz on steroids") string spacing is about 17mm at the bridge. Tuning is F#BEADGCF
7. up we go, this lady needs a new house, and I need money for MY house!
8. He's doing a workshop tour presenting his new line of basses, I'm going to see him here on the 20th.
9. Need to sell, overseas gets free shipping too UE buyers: price drop 3700 Euros!! this is a steal for such a bass!
10. Now that's a curious find!! Theo Pascal is one of Portugal's finest, kind of like our domestic Bona hehe. Always wondered if he still had that bass.
11. hey elros, I didn't knew you had bought one of Al caldwell's basses! Good luck with the sales, that Bene is so gorgeous!
12. a 145' gauge is not enough by far. 150' may be OK in a 35" scale, the ideal is a 165' gauge. Get in touch with Conklin guitars in the USA, they supply bulk strings for ERB tunings, 165 for the F#, 195' for the low C#! They are custom pro steels from SIT.
13.
Really tough to price Ritters because the final spec makes a huge difference. There's one dealer in the US that i've dealt with in the past and they list from between £2,250 to £4,500! Might be worth explaining in a bit more detail aubout the higher cost options
As it is, this bass had a list price of 4900 Euros + taxes (Portugal 20%). This a recent model, it was delivered early 2007. I'm only selling it below 4000 because I need the money to insure a bumpy ride in times to come. (house repairs, job getting crappy)
14. Pigalle has some cool shops, the most bass oriented is probably California basses, altough I have an impression they had relocated, not sure. you're lucky your wife doesn't want to go shopping in Lisbon, then you'd really be toasted!! "Good morning, I'd like to try a few basses, do you have any??" " -Oh yes, we have these wonderful SQUIER and IBANEZ here..." enter new store, repeat speech...
15. SOLD. Macassar Ebony Top and scale! (35") Ash Body. 3 piece maple neck. all electronics are Ritter's own design. (18 volt operation, 3 band with sweepable mids) the pickups are switchable from H-buckers to single coil operation. Passive switch. Amazing clarity, while some call sadowskys "fender on steroids", I'd put this bass as "music man on steroids" but unfortunately, life obliges it to go, so 3600 Euros *shipped* claim this stunning instrument. I have experience in shipping basses to the UK, and positive sales feedback @ Talkbass.com cheers!
