  1. Ah, ok. So bypassing the preamp would have the same effect really? If that's the case then it still happens. In fact the first time it happened was when I bypassed the preamp and went direct into the FX return.
  2. Totally man. I was actually only last night I found that site. I did a check on the wayback machine and it's new with this image and certainly looks hopeful that something is coming. I'm currently watching the live video you posted and man it takes me back. This was the second to last tour they did. I remember they came out to do the encore in Glasgow and Chris snapped a string, blamed Pete for it for some reason and they squared up to each other on stage. I honestly thought they were gonna go at it. I really do hope he's back with something. I'd even love it to be some solo stuff with him playing guitar. He was a great song writer as well as a kickass bass player. I'm so taking my Thunderbird to next practice.
  3. I saw that the company who filmed this had uploaded one track a month ago too. They did it with a split of two different gigs. One of them being this one so perhaps there's another full gig out there somewhere. Have you seen this that's not long popped up...? http://petevuckovic.com/ Could be that he's about to do something, hopefully. Especially since they just released the above gig. I do know he's been living in London with his girlfriend but as far as I know he hasn't done anything beyond the Basskniv3s EP.
  4. I haven't tried that but it does have one. I have bypassed the pre-amp by going into the FX return and that was the first time I can remember it doing that. Would doing what you suggest rule anything out?
  5. So I have a Fender Super Bassman and a Neo 4x10. A little while ago it starting playing up. After a couple of minutes of use I'd get these loud buzz for a second then the amp wouldn't output anything other than a slight buzz. If you turned the volume up the buzz just stayed at the same volume. All 6 valve warning lights would go red on the back. If I restarted the amp then all would be fine. I later found out it only seemed to happen when the amp was first turned on, almost from a cold start. I took it to my local music shop who were able to get it to do exactly the same thing as me and they contacted Fender. Fender said it was the board that houses the valve check/self biasing. It was replaced but I can't remember what they said but it was something along the lines of it wouldn't work like it should then all of a sudden it was working perfectly. They tested it for a few days and no issue. Took it to a gig and same thing. Tried it at home and the same thing. FYI I moved house so I know it's not a wiring issue with the building as it's happened now in 4 locations. So I took it back to my local shop who tested it and couldn't get it to go faulty. They suggested it might be a faulty speaker cable. I've ordered one but thought I'd ask on here for any other ideas as I'm not hopeful that a new speaker cable will fix it. I should also add that when the amp was in the shop the first time they were using their own cab not my Neo, so it's not a cab issue either. Any ideas?
  6. Nice one. I did see that pop up on the search but I figured it wasn't what I was looking for.
  7. Sounds like a beast. I thought about a 74 at the neck and a custom shop 60's at the bridge but they don't sell them in singles.
  8. Yeah, I figured that when both pickups were on that it would probably give a fatter sound as it would favour the neck pickups higher output. Which for me would be a bonus. Plus you'd be able to adjust the heights to balance them. I'm guessing the neck would be a lot lower and allow for some heavy hitting without that harsh pop/spike.
  9. Yeah I saw these. They looked really good but the neck is higher output than the bridge which I thought was odd. I'm considering them too as they're made for the 70's spacing.
  10. You can't get these new now right? Didn't they close down because the guy retired?
  11. Ah, lol. I meant which store or was it a seller but I'll PM you in a bit and we can maybe discuss...
  12. Where did you get them? The best Jazz I ever had was a USA Geddy and would love to get my hands on a set but have been unable to find any.
  13. I just had a look and that's crazy cheap for those pickups! There only seems to be one type (Ceramic) on their site but the Neo ones appear for sale on the likes of Ebay. Are the Neo ones newer or older? Also how to the Neo's compare to other magnet types in say the Ceramic set? Thanks.
  14. Series would give an additional boost to the mids like you say and a series parallel switch or push/pull pot would allow for the original Parallel Jazz tone as an extra option. I have a series parallel on my Jazz and it's great for that extra tone.
  15. I'd say best way to describe it is a fat grindy tone if that makes sense? Basically something that can get me into the ballpark of the output of my P-basses but still with the Jazz flavour but a bit fatter.
  16. Pretty much what the title says. I'm in need of a set of Jazz bass pickups. I've been looking but I can't decide what might be right for me or not. A little background. I have a Super Bassman with a Bassman 4x10. No pedals, just straight in. I usually use a pick and play some sort of rock. I've got two P-basses which I love the sound of. One has the stock custom 60's the other has a PJ set of Quarter Pounds. So whatever I choose for the Jazz has to keep up with this and not sound too thin or under powered. I've looked for a couple of weeks now, read through countless forums, watched videos and listened to sound clips. I just can't pick a set. In the past I have tried Seymour Duncan SJB2 and 3 sets. The SJB3 were not to my liking, too mid scooped. The SJB2 were great but from memory they were really dark and muffled when compared to my P-basses. Currently have Dimarzio Model J's which sound ok but are causing issues due to the fact they are so much taller than normal pickups (meaning I have the shim the neck and then the bridge I have doesn't lock the saddles into the grooves of the bassplate as the saddles need to be that much higher). The bass these pickups are going are a 62 reissue Jazz bass from Japan (JB62 FCH/SLV). The weird thing is that they seem to have put the bridge pickup in at the 70's position, not the 60's. So this will obviously affect tone. I also want the bass to remain passive. So with that in mind what do you think? Opinions in this would be greatly appreciated.
  17. Jazz pickups with a lot of mids. I found Seymour Duncan SJB2's to have the most mids of any pickup of tried so far. They should come in under your budget with a bit to spare. I'm seriously considering going back to them. I've tried stock Japan ones, SJB2 and SJB3, Model J's and I have to say the SJB2's got me to where I wanted. If anything they were more dark sounding than my P-basses.
  18. Hey guys. Need advice on a spare part for Rickenbacker 4003. You’ll all know the mute part under the bridge. Well one of the screws has come out and gone missing. Does anyone know of a screw that fits or a set I could get to replace them and any links? Only reason I ask rather than going to Ric and asking is I know Ric spares can be expensive and take a long time to get. Any help would be great. Thanks guys :-)

  20. He played a glittery one? Nice, never seen that one. I know he has a vintage non-reverse one he won on Ebay that he doesn't take out of the house and he also had a 5 string one but took one string off as he didn't like having 5. Have never seen him with either of those but he has mentioned them in interviews. His amp during the last couple of tours was an Ashdown ABM Evo II 500 with the ABM 4x10 and 1x15. He did also use an 8x10 too. Back in the day he used an Ampeg and I'm pretty sure that's the amp he had issues with on the live DVD too. Basskniv3s it was a Trace Elliot stack but unsure which.
  21. He also used a BC Rich in one of the Basskniv3s videos. The EP was great, dunno why the album never appeared. Someone did tell me he used the Non-reverse Epiphone Thunderbird on Revolt.
