1. Chris bought some flat wound strings off me. Friendly straightforward deal with good comms and fast payment. All good
2. No longer available
3. On reflection, silly move. WIthdrawing this
4. I also have a John Goldsby's 'Jazz Bass' book (vgc but don't have the time to work through it) http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Jazz-Bass-Book-Technique/dp/0879307161 plus a spare Ray Brown double bass tutor book (slightly worn but perfectly usable). Together a great prize for an aspiring DB'er
5. Sold, thanks for the interest and sorry to those who missed out
6. I have had a PM about this pedal, so it may be sold
7. Given I think I am doing a [s]master[/s]class on "Making the transition to double bass & what you need to start gigging" (or something along those lines) I will be bringing a 3/4 double bass, a MarkBass Mini CMD 121P amp, and possibly also my Ampeg Baby Bass

9. Wowzer. Thats truly a work of art. Many congrats!
10. Sorry, not looking for trades as I'm slimming down my pile of gear!
11. Tom bought a set of DB strings off me. Excellent transaction, as per his previous feedback. Straightforward, quick to pay, good comms, cannot be faulted! Nice one, matey
12.
New price? I thought they were discontinued.
Well Absolute are showing 1 in stock. Maybe its the last one?!
13. Piccie here
14. I've had a PM about posting outside the UK but - after a quick search - its silly expensive (about £30). So this is UK only, apologies to our non-UK fraternity
15. I got this from longstanding forumite (and good bloke) dave_bass5 about six months ago. I thought it would work with my double basses as well as my electric bass, due to the parametric mid control, but truth is I can't get it to work particularly well with the former (its undeniably fab with my Jazz bass). I am moving it on in favour of a PlatPro for my DBs. Its in excellent nick in the Tech21 tin still with instruction sheet. I paid Dave £110 for it and am asking the same posted. Best new price is £203 at Absolute Music http://www.absolutem...CFfLHtAodbF8AUw
16. Gareth (aka smaz) bought my Fender A/E fretless bass. Very friendly comms, fast payment and a nice guy too (had a quick chat at Waterloo Station for handover). Hope you have many happy hours together and welcome to the forum
17. BTW, I have always wondered if you are Brian Eno in disguise
18. Nice one Jack. I bet that sounds utterly amazing for [s]slap bass[/s] retro loveliness
19. When I play any bass in my sitting room with an amp there's an annoying hum. If I move the amp elsewhere in the house it disappears. It can be due to the electrical wiring surrounding you where you are playing, rather than to the bass itself. Is this a possibility? If not, agreed -go straight back to the shop
20. I can vouch for smaz. Very friendly comms and unquestioningly paid upfront for the Fender A/E fretless I am handing over to him tomorrow. Looks a great deal!
21. Piezo-friendly DI for double bass (and other acoustic instruments). Selling as I've not actually had cause to use it yet as I prefer a DI with EQ options (eg PlatPro). About £75 new and so i will sell it, in completely unused, mint condition for £60 posted Specs here at Thomann http://www.thomann.d...eering_sb_4.htm This was discussed in a thread wot I started and Happy Jack reported back very positively with his StageBug SB-4 http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2136488
22. Selling a set of Danny Thompson 3/4 Elitist strings which are a chunky £145 new http://www.basscentr...ss-strings.html These are in OK but not pristine condition (the silks seem very fragile and are slightly frayed but not badly so) but have had barely any playing time. I got them from Greg Cordez who owned them only briefly and I had them on my bass for a few weeks only before going back to growlier Spiro Mittels. £[s]80[/s] 75 posted. * PRICE CUT TO £70 POSTED AS I HAVE TOO MANY STRINGS SITTING AROUND!
23. I just bought a set of Pyramid flats for my Jazz bass, put them on and immediately removed as I prefer the softer feel of Lakland Jo Osborn flats. They've been on my bass for a matter of a couple of hours and are 100% as-new, bar me clipping the very long E/A string silk ends slightly for a Fender 4-a-side headstock. These work out at £29 plus post from Thomann, taking it to over £30 to buy (they are £44 at Stringbusters!). So how about £25* posted, a 25%+ saving for a couple of hours use? For those unfamiliar, these are very retro sounding flats (as used by Jefferson Airplane at end-60s etc) and are ideal for blues, reggae and old school Motown. They do not do bright and zingy! http://www.thomann.d...8c3083bebcb74ab * it says £24 at top of page but I typed this in error and cannot edit this. The price is £25 for avoidance of doubt, including UK post
24. Yes, the Mini CMD 121P works very well for both DB and electric bass and - as others have noted - is pokier than the GK (which I have also owned). I prefer the MarkBass by a substantial margin. The only downside is the MarkBass is heavier and - as a cube - slightly more awkward to carry
