  1. Spoken to Lee At Gallaghers in Grimsby. Hes found out that ALL the last batch of 12 to 18 RPBXs have come with the wrong necks but marked up correctly and been sent out to retailers. Another batch coming in October but because they are en route they cant check for correct necks. Im waiting and if they come with P necks, swapping mine for one of that batch. Lee's always a great guy to deal with and keen on price too. If anyone wants this J bass with double P pups, talk to me!!!

  2. I used my nearest high street Revelation stockist to special order it straight to my workplace so as to give him some business without the 60 mile round trip. The retailer is asking the supplier the relevent questions as we speak.

  3. Kodiacblair, what does your neck measure at the nut - thought this was supposed to be a 42mm P neck on a J body but mine is a 38mm jazz width. Good quality finish and almost spot on intonation. Sound super-punchy too with plenty of tone options. Paddy.

  4. Head back from the tec today. He had a good root round and changed a diode which was in the process of burning through - it is 26 years old. And that was it - £30, thanks very much!!! Has 6 Mesa tubes fitted by a previous owner not so long ago.  Sounds like an earthquake now through 2 x SVT 115Es. Happy days!!!

Yes. Lovely bass. Serial number starts IM04 = Indonesia 2004?

Beautiful slim neck, lovely finish in gunmetal metallic and still in excellent condition. I dropped a set of quarter pounders in and have fitted a drop tuner. The tone pot packed up so I got a @KiOgon loom and now have series/parallel switch. That caused a little headscratching to shoehorn it in, as it's fitted with mini pots and the routing is tight, with the scratch plate barely covering it

It's been my main gigging bass for a few years now despite several much more expensive basses in my collection

Edit: As for cost, the bass was £150 second hand from BC classifieds. SD QP set was £100. It's paid for itself many times over. I originally bought it as a project donor, but it was too nice to mess with. Even the original cheapo pups sounded pretty good

Snap!!! - only swapped out the bridge for a more stealth looking bass. Cost 120 plus 20 for the new to me bridge. Always my back-up bass to my MM USA sub and used on drop-tuned songs. Sounds fine with its stock pups and wiring.

  6. I must say I'm quite excited by the prospect of a new to me Ampeg SVT 2. Bought through Gtree from a very helpfull guy up north. He sent me a good demo video but he only had a guitar to play through it. What should I expect come Monday - delivery day!!! Even if the head seems to perform well, should I get a service done straight away just to be on the safe side? Included is a copy of the advert.

  7. Hi Urban, I live in Sutton-on-Sea and am lucky enough to be in a local band with my son and two other guys. Ages are 57 (me) 42,35 and 25 (my son). We are called Revelry (indie anthems band) (Revelry Band Lincolnshire on Fbk) so if you see us advertised, pop along to see us. We got together using Joinmyband and were very lucky to pick up a talented drummer who moved up here and used to travel to play in London regularly at one time. There are people out there - keep advertising!!!!

  8. Anyone care to estimate how many hours playing it must have taken to get the buckle-rash result that this beauty has - and all natural. No botox used here!!!

Love the black blocks and binding too!!

After a quick Google, I think that's one for the shopping list. Top tip, thanks 🙂

I might think about the castors, too; at the moment, I wheel it around on a trolley. I can lift it in and out of the Defender OK, but it's a struggle to carry it any distance.

When I got the Metro, it came with an Eden David 115 but someone had swapped out the dead driver (8ohm) to a new one (4 ohm) which used to feed 2/3rds of the signal to the 115 so sold it on and bought the Ampeg. Not heavy atall and great tone with the Eden and with my EBS head too. Have the kickback Eden David 210 which I sometimes use instead of the Ampeg. Never used all 3 together - that would just be crazy!!!! 650 watts at 2.67ohms!!!!
