  1. Less upper mid is a characteristic of their 10's vs their 12's. Having had a Two10 and three One10's, and now the two Super Compacts. I was a little naive when I bought the first SC. I thought it would be just a bigger version of their 10, but it was very different sonically, and at first I was a little disappointed to be honest. The SC's are more "hi-fi", they reproduce a lot more of what goes in, without colour. Once I got used to them, I found I could get what I wanted out of them, and they sound huge, but it did involve a change of amp! The Bergantino I was using just didn't sound how I wanted it to through the SC's, it was too pronounced in the upper mid, very hard to describe, but almost clanky. Bear in mid, I'm a vintage P Bass with flats and the tone rolled off kind of chap. Now this 3x10 is out, I'm rather excited at the prospect of having "that tone" back again, smooth, warm, old school. I've withdrawn the Berg from sale as I want to see how it sounds through the 3x10. The wait is going to kill me.... Rob
  2. Are there any virgins in Clapham? It's not called Clapham for nothing I don't think. Rob, you're already going above and beyond, but since you're asking, Tamworth Red bacon would be lovely
  3. I am partial to a bacon butty, crispy smoked streaky and real butter being the ideal. Just call me Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall.
  4. Ah ha! Thanks. Thanks for the brief review. Please keep us updated as you venture out with it. Is that the amp you gig with? I'm so looking forward to getting mine. I am also currently running Super Compacts, one or two depending. More bass than a Super Compact you say? Woo hoo! It's going to be thunderous. I've ordered mine with no tweeter, as I never hear them anyway! I see you went cloth grill, so did I, except I opted for silver for that old school look. All my others have been steel, but I felt like a change. I look forward to your next missive. Rob
  5. It's a great amp. has plenty of the "H word". I ran it with a pair of Super Compacts for two festival gigs last weekend, sounded huge. However, I am going to withdraw the Berg now. I have a BF 3x10 on order and I have a sneaking suspicion it could be a perfect match. Watch this space, but don't gold your breath, it won't be here for a few weeks yet. Rob
  6. I eat anything. This is very good of you Rob.
  7. I've caved. I've ordered one. It's too new to find any secondhand yet, and I think this will be a great cab for me, having experience of a few of their other 10" offerings. Estimated lead time is 6 to 8 weeks, so I'm going to be waiting a while! Rob
  8. Jose bought my Boss Bass Synth. No quibbles, straightforward deal. Recommended. Cheers!
  9. Thread resurrection. Has anyone tried a 3x10? I'm gigging a pair of Super Compacts. They are good, loud, full, fill the room, and I have no complaints about them. They are also easy to move. Except..... I do like the colouration of the BF 10's. The SC's need judicious eq and the right amp to get where I want them to be, and even then, they're not quite like the tone of BF 10's. I've had three One10's and a Two10 in the past, I probably wish I'd kept the Two10, but hey ho. On a gig yesterday, the bass player in the band on after us at a festival, an old friend, had a BF 6x10. It sounded wonderful. He was using an old Gallien Krueger 400RB, and a vintage Jazz Bass. But, the cab was too heavy for me to consider it as an option. We did talk about cabs a bit, he's curious about the 2x10, me not so much having had one, so I think the 3x10 could be the way forward for me. Anyway......if you have any experience, please share. Thanks, Rob
  10. Oh heck, sorry Rob. It was a pretty good gig, but our gig at the Rose & Crown later was better. The Aspinall was absolutely rammed with people. They must make a mint.
  11. I’m about to play gig 3 of 4 of the Bank Holiday weekend, and I’m using the Puma I bought from you. It’s bleedin’ marvellous.
  12. I’m using a pair of Super Compacts now. This is my first weekend away with them both, four gigs in total. But I’m using them as a modular rig, two gigs with one cab, two gigs with two. They “say” a pair of Super Compacts is the same as a Super Twin, although I do wonder. I’ve had four of the BF 10” cabs, and when I got these 12”s it took me time to get used to them, they are very different. The 10’s are far more coloured in comparison. I’m getting used to them now though. I do sort of desire a 12 that sounds more like the 10 in that rounded rolled off top, old school way, but I can get there with amp choice and eq.
  13. Probably the best quality gig bag I've ever had. Superb construction, fit, and protection. A really top notch gig bag/case. But I don't use it, it's been out of the house only a handful of times, and it's basically as new condition. Price includes postage to mainland UK. Reduced to £100 Link to blurb at Andertons - https://www.andertons.co.uk/reunion-blues-continental-voyager-electric-bass-guitar-case-rbcb4
  14. I think you're right. I will have two Super Compacts with me anyway, as I have 4 gigs with 2 different bands this weekend in the same town, and one of the bands needs the "big rig". Ok, decision made.
  15. I should have said why! The gigs are "walk to's", only about 10 minutes from our accommodation, but that's 10 minutes with a Super Compact + amp, or the Rumble 100. I do have a lightweight foldable sack truck however.
  16. I'm about to use mine on a couple of larger gigs. I think I'm taking a bit of a chance, but the band is low key, with a quiet drummer, and it seems plenty at rehearsal. Having had a look around, I notice some people are saying they have replaced the speaker with great results. Has anyone here done it? What did you use, was it easy, did it fit, what are your thoughts? I'm thinking a driver from Barefaced like the ones in my Super Compacts would be awesome. I've actually asked Alex what he thinks, but not had a reply yet. Ta, Rob
  17. All this "this, by that, byt'other" bends my head. That's Lancashire for WTF.
  18. Tim bought a Barefaced cab from me this week. Good to deal with. Recommended. Rob
  19. Ian bought a Barefaced cab from me this week. Good comms, no hassles. Highly recommended. Cheers, Rob
