  1. 2nd Keyboard player wanted for Surrey based ( Guildford area ) working band. An interesting project for a player that's into laying down brass, strings and Hammond parts to bluesy, soulful grooves with uncomplicated players that love what they do. Please call Russ on 07710 226003 for a chinwag
  2. Ah, thanks to you all for your considered response and pleased I am not alone on this one.
  3. A pet hate of mine, You place an item up for sale and get a response from Mr 'very interested' who asks various questions about said item and wants to know if its still available. You take the time to answer as fully and accurately as you can and ask Mr 'very interested' if he would like to view the item, and what happens next ? Absolutely nothing !! does this sound familiar to you ? Now perhaps i am old fashioned, but all it takes is a few minutes to show fellow basschatters a bit of respect and courtesy even if the response is 'thanks but no thanks' at least it is a response and everyone can move on. This is a great site and provides a great service to bass players everywhere, lets show courtesy and respect to fellow bass player cos we are all part of the same brotherhood. There, now its off my chest and thank you for listening !
  4. Have no experience of the amps but credit where its due, i toured a couple of 410 XL cabs for a couple of years with a trace valve head and later on a Classic head and i loved em. Very punchy, tight sound in fact i still have a 210 XL cab at home for practising with and when its hooked up to the old Quatravalve it sounds half decent ! I did trial a couple of Hi Drives and although they are not quite as heavy to lug around i found they were a little more 'polite' sounding than the XLs. Horses for course i guess
  5. Think i may have opened a can of worms here !
  6. Thanks Bill, I understand where you are coming from ref drivers but surely the design of the enclosure would have a large part to play ? Ported versus sealed etc ?
  7. Some advice wanted from fellow basschatters please, from experience, which cabs would you say had the most midrange attack ( transient response ) ? Bergies, Aggies, Vanderkleys, or indeed any other cab that's out there at the moment. Thanks in advance
  8. Someone should buy this, i had the twin valve head for a while, luverly !!!
  9. I reckon I should heed sensible advice and hang on to this lovely bass. Final bump till the weekend then its going back in its case.
  10. I have just seen a re issue for sale at £120 less than this and this is the real deal ! whats happening out there ?
  11. Sound advice guys and much appreciated, it really is a nice one, Walbassist knows a good bass when he sees one
  12. Forgot to mention that i will of course throw in the original 70s fender hardcase !
  13. 300 Watt RMS Hybrid head fearuring V Type pre amp, Mosfet power stage, pre/post eq, DI output, 4 ohms, effects loop, line out. All the benefits of a classic V Type head without the weight and reliability issues associated with all valve heads. I have owned V4 and V6 heads and this amp is so damn close to replicating that classic V type sound it just has to be heard. No issues with this amp whatsoever, no knocks, no scuffs and in tip top working order. Complete with original Trace cover. Not too many of these beauties out there these days and i would imagine very few in this condition. Incredibly portable weighing in at only 16kgs !!! Happy to supply any further pictures to serious buyers, carriage not included in sale price and you are more than welcome to try before you buy. 14. Lovely amp, good luck with the sale, I have got a flight case for one of these baby's if anyones interested in re uniting it with your amp !
  15. I have owned and played this lovely bass for just over 20 years but time to move on. As you will see from the phtoos, it has the usual battle scars but it is a genuine instrument that plays very well and sounds just as you would expect a 70s jazz to sound. It has not been mucked about with in any way. I have toured with it for the last 15 years and it has had regular check ups and set ups. I hve not popped the neck to verify dates however I wouldbe happy to make this a condition of sale for a serious buyer once you played the bass and are happy with it. I can confirm the pots as being 1377625 = CTS/1976/Wk 25. There is a small nick just below the inlay on the 5th fret which I can't seem to capture on a photo but this does not affect the playability in any way. It weighs in at a smidge below 9lbs. If your are looking for a 70s Jazz I am confident you won't be disappointed with this one, its a good 'un. A great bass at a fair price methinks !
