1. just to thro i in there if you want a one cab solution and like ampeg maybe look at the 610hlf not much bigger than a 410hlf but does way more! andy
 2. tracks from the webcast are now up on my bands myspace. www.myspace.com/syruss
 3. oppz! im in plymouth, devon haha yeh your probs right! Mmmm maybe looks nice but was really after a p or j andy
 4. well i got this bass as a project that i was gonna put some cool stuff onto/into but its to cool to cut into etc! so im looking to sell it to fund either the purchase of a p bass or j thats in need of some tlc that i can mod. The bass is in perfect nick sadly no case (its not standard with epi's) so pick up is prefered? i can meet half way if needed? the only mod i have done is to add strap locks and move the strap button to the back of the neck so there no neck dive. as i said im up for a trade so offer away. they go for 349 new, and this is as good as! and only about 6 months old, and with the straplocks mod and ill give the strap with the correct ends with the bass if you want? but anyway im looking for 280? any offers? andy
 5. if this is in the wrong place please move! my band played a live webcast yesterday, looking for some views on what you guys think? basically a quick live mix in a studio and us playing thru some songs and chatting a bit. 6.
Folks I'm on the look out for an affordable Ampeg set up - relatively speaking anyway! £500 - £600 mark. There are some very different small Ampeg rigs for sale through BC at the moment and my question is whether it's the done thing to get you guys to give your thoughts on the merits of each set up. Don't want to offend the sellers obviously!! If this is a go-er I can edit this thread with some details of the set ups to invite your thoughts! Cheers everyone Ian
ive played thru a few ampeg rigs, none that really class as small! i love there cabs more than amps tho.
 7. just a quick bump! we've added another new track called waiting for my life to begin! check it out and let me know what you think about that and the other tracks. andy

 10.
I got the Micro VR head early this year and recently gigged with it at a 200 person capacity venue with no problems. I could not afford the matching cab so i am playing through a Laney 4x10 cab. As a relative novice i also love the simplicty of the control panel, bass, mid and treble. Its so easy with just those options to find a sound you like without spending hours/days/weeks twiddeling around with too many control knobs.
cool man! ive got the av cab but not the vr head! gonna get myself the rig so i have 2 of the cabs as im gonna use them as part of my effected rig with my lm2, and use the vr as a practice amp, plus im in a covers band playing pubs and that will make a perfect rig! andy
 11.
its finally here, im mega happy. ITS ACE and not bad for a 17 year old haha cant wait to gig it in the weekend
come on dnt tease! post some pics! the thing i love about mine is it fills a room really well! andy
 12.
It can happen the other way around too. Sometimes I'll get a wicked tone/noise when I'm practicing on me jack but when I take it to a sesh with the band it just gets swallowed up and loses it's impact.
that happens to me with every distortion i use! but ive kinda learn't when i can kick it in and it be heard underneath the band mix. ill get some pics of mine not as impressive as most of the ones on here tho! andy
 13. love mine! its now driven with a aggie db750, but before that i had a ampeg svt-pro 6 sounded wicked! my 610's a keeper! ive heard theres better out there and that theirs smaller cabs that will apparently go louder but its not going anywhere! with my aggie it a brutal rig! andy
 14.
Well, at the end of the day, I could continue to use my Marshall bass cabs for the metal looks (2x15 and 4x12 bass cabs) but I fancied 10s as I find the Marshall 2x15 a bit flabby, and I borrowed an 8x10 recently that sounded 100x better, so a pair of 4x10s seemed like an obvious, flexible answer that would handle any size venue by using 1 for smaller gigs and 2 for bigger stages to take advantage of the 4 ohms. I could just have one 4 ohm 4x10, but that would look crap against the 4 Marshall 4x12s my guitarists have (we believe in old school "wall of death" Metal backline) but I suppose if I had enough brute volume coming from one 4 ohm 4x10, I wouldn't be averse to cheating and using a dummy cab as well just for looks. If we ever hit it big enough to play sizeable venues and afford proper crew, then I'm buying/hiring SVT8x10s. I am not averse to trying the Barefaced cabs though, when I have the dosh ready, I will try some out. What cabs would you recommend for ACDC/Motorhead style Hard Rock with a Thunderbird?
two 410's wont sound like a 810, but i would honestly take a look at the 610hlf, its not that much bigger than a single 410hlf i believe its actually shallower? ok it weighs more 85pounds for the 410 and 110 for the 610 but the 610 is easier to move! and does give the same sort of look as the 810. and you can use it for small gigs and large rather than having add another cab? andy
 15.
6x10 a nice idea, but I want to do this as 2x 4x10s, so I need 8 ohm cabs.
cool man there very easy to get around tho?, i know aguilar do 8 or 4 ohm 410's andy
 16.
What about the 4 ohm SVT-610HLF?
+1! if you need anymore than this id be shocked! i love mine! and now i have my db750 i can if wanted add another :-) andy
 17.
Ah, here is the spec: TONE HAMMER - (click here for sample settings) This preamp/direct box is so strong and powerful it could only be called the "Tone Hammer"! Based on the respected OBP-3 preamp, the Tone Hammer features fully sweepable midrange frequencies in addition to bass and treble controls. With the Tone Hammer's pristine D.I. you are set for the studio or the stage. To give this tone shaping unit the ultimate flexibility we are introducing our proprietary Adaptive Gain Shaping circuitry (AGS). AGS allows the player to kick in an additional gain structure and EQ with the "stomp" of a button. You can now go from modern slap sounds to vintage or overdriven. 18 volt operation gives the Tone Hammer plenty of headroom to reproduce the most dynamic playing style. Separate "Gain" and "Master" controls allow you to dial in just the right gain structure for any instrument. The Tone Hammer is the essential preamp/direct box for every bassist's tool box. Features: Pre/Post DI Unbalanced output can drive a power amp AGS circuitry Cut and boost of treble, mid and bass frequencies Fully sweepable midrange frequencies Powered by two nine volt batteries, phantom power or optional universal power supply Ground lift switch Heavy Duty steel construction Specs: Inputs: One 1/4" jack Outputs: One 1/4" jack, One XLR (nominal output - 14 dBu balanced) EQ: Bass +/- 18 dB @ 40 Hz Mid +/- 17 dB @ 180 Hz to 1 kHz Treble +/- 18 dB @ 4 kHz Controls: Ground lift switch Pre/Post DI switch Engage switch AGS switch Warranty: Three year limited Optional: 18 volt power supply ----------- So it has the OBP-3 preamp in it. There might not be any point in getting it if you have an Aguilar pre....but then again it depends if you prefer the dirt on the sansamp or tone hammer. Both work....DI is great.
thanks man! yeh would be nice to be able to add the pre to my fender p tho? Mmm well im thinking im gonna just have to try em out! andy
 18.
They both sound quite different! Both di, the sansamp is more classic ampeg-ish, the tone hammer is little more modern and has a pre amp built in so it can 'active' your passive basses.
would that pre amp screw with the pre amp in my modulus? ive got the 0bp-1 aggie pre in it btw. andy
 19.
See also the thread on how to get the best out of the BDDI - the results you'll get will be closely bound to what rig you're running through.
im running a db750 thru a 610hlf peg at the minute. but soon will be running that rig alongside a lm2 with two 210 ampeg cabs as a dirty rig which would be what this will be running thru eventually. but also like the idea of being able to send a dirty sig to the pa using the di. andy
 20. looking into adding a bit of grit on some songs in my band. both of these can do it but what would you guys go with? andy
