1. Might have been a little optimistic initially. Drop to £550. The body, pickups and hardware cost more to buy new!
2. Early this year I had a little fun & set myself the task of a Fender Jazz tribute parts-build with the idea of assembling a very faithful Jazz bass but with upgraded pickups & hardware. I had a lot of fun speccing this up and assembling it. I even sanded back the headstock & added a '62 Jazz Bass decal & re-lacquered it. *Please note* I am under no pretensions of selling this as a Fender instrument. This was supposed to be for myself and myself only but needs-must and I have to part with it if anyone will have it. Full specification is below, as you can see most of the parts are proper Fender USA parts with the upgrades as I saw fit. Ironically, it cost me less than buying a brand new stock Jazz and I had loads of fun putting it together! The price reflects the fact that it isn't a genuine Fender Jazz whilst still respectful of the quality of the parts. It plays as well as a USA Jazz should and sounds a lot better due to the brilliant Nordstrand pickups. Full spec: Body: Official Fender USA Jazz, alder, 3-tone sunbust Neck: Warmoth maple jazz bass neck with gloss finish and steel rods Fingerboard: Rosewood with pearl block inlays Pickups: Nordstrand NJ4 Electronics: Classic V/V/T, hand-wired by Basschat's very own Ki0gon Bridge: Hipshot type A in brass Tuners: Gotoh Res-O-Lite Straplocks: Dunlop Pickguard: Official Fender tort Decal: Fender 1962 era Jazz bass All the other hardware (bridge ferrules / screws / string retainer / etc.) are all Official Fender parts. Usual Jazz stuff applies: 38mm nut, 19mm string spacing. It's a very light alder body too and with the lightweight hardware it's very very easy on the shoulder. Local pickup / collection from South Manchester is preferred as I have no case for it. Any questions, please ask away! 3. I ordered this from America at the back end of last year and it took it so long to arrive (more than 3 months!) I no longer need it for the project i was working on so it's surplus to requirements. It's a full passive stack-knob/stack-pot wiring kit including jack and bell plate for a Jazz bass. I haven't tested it but it's absolutely brand new so I can't imagine it won't work. Shipping within the UK is included in price. Any other questions just ask. 4.
I like stage 2 streamers, I really like them. I've considered getting one often. Are they really just a jazz bass, or is there more to them than that?
They don't sound like a jazz bass at all to my ears - I was surprised about that too at first. Both pickups are closer to the bridge than on a jazz so it sounds a heck of a lot more modern. The neck-through gives it way more sustain as well. I also have a Jazz and I've found I can't get that deep, woolly vintage tone with the Stage II. Whereas you can't get that ridiculous aggressive growl from a jazz - close but it doesn't have that same quality to it! They're quite different and I suppose that's why I'm happy having one of each
5.
Unlined ebony boards are amazing, this however is Zericote!
Haha, my bad!
6. Beauty. One of the best sounding fretless basses I've heard was a fretless ACG Graft Finn. Good luck with the sale!
7.
Gambisk, I know this is being a bit pedantic, but the bass in the pics doesn't have a Just a nut III. The III is brass. Still a great bass though at that price.
Warwick make both plastic and brass versions of their nut, the brass version is an upgrade. It actually looks to me like a Just A Nut 2, with the little clips at the side. (Sorry to be even more pedantic, haha). Again, great bass at an amazing price!
8. That's a very classy and elegant bass. Not too dissimilar from my Alpher fretless. Got to love and unlined ebony board!
9. I have an Alpher Mako fretless that Chris & Alex built for me last year - you won't be disappointed! Their one-piece bodies and tops are something else. Alpher's attention to detail is incredible and customer service is second to none too, as I'm sure you've found out. It's so hard to resist ordering another one, haha!
10. That it stunning. Nothing quite like an unlined ebony fretboard!
11. My newly acquired SSII. I've wanted a Stage II for years but they always seemed to be expensive & unattainable for some reason. Thank the lord for trades! 12.
Hi, Is this still available and what is the current cash price? Thanks
Hi Tim, The ACG isn't available as of the last day or two. I've worked out a trade and the bass is shipping to it's new owner tomorrow. Sorry to disappoint. Cheers. Tom
13. Still very much for sale as well as trade.
14. If anyone has a Warwick Thumb NT4 for trade, that would be amazing...
15.
Is UK courier an option? Much as I love Manchester I'm not able to get there too easily
Hi mate, yes there's no problem at all with couriering it. I don't have a hard case but I have a gig bag and a strong box + bubble wrap to ship it in. It's £20-£30 usually.
16. Hi briansbrew, send me a PM & a couple of pics of the Streamer if poss.
17. Hi mate, I don't have any scales unfortunately so I can't give you an accurate weight - I'd say between 9lbs & 10lbs. It balances really well on a strap though and because of the weight is really resonant and sustains for days.
