1. Back up for sale as it was pending and fell through.
2. Ordered a Jazz control plate kit yesterday. Built, tested and delivered in less than 24 hours - that's what I call service! Pleasure doing business & won't hesitate to do so again!
3. Cheers, rednose. ACGs are up there with the best!
4. Bump again. Presumably it's just a slow time for selling? Everyone skint from Christmas?
5.
The selling market is bad when you see a bass like this at that price
Yeah, I might take it down & put it back up when things pick up!
6. Here are the shots of the ding on the back of the neck. It's only really in the lacquer and doesn't seem to have affected the wood so nothing serious at all. Thought I would post them here anyway to be fully transparent with everything. 7. I had another quick play on this last night and it's gorgeous so snap it up before I change my mind, haha!
8.
It's been noticed just have no money What's the weight and scale length?
I'm not sure of the weight as I don't have any scales but Alan at ACG doesn't really make very lightweight basses (apart from by request I suppose) so I'd say it's between 9 & 10lbs. It sits really well on a strap though and the balance is perfect because of the long top horn and lightweight tuners. The scale length is 34". Alan specialises in making shorter scale extended range basses so I wouldn't be worried about the B string performance on this beauty. There are some 32" 6-string ACGs knocking about that sound incredible.
Gorgeous! Can we have a look at that ding in the neck? Pm if you wish
Yes, I'll try & take a shot or two over the weekend. I borrowed someone else's camera for those shots so they won't be quite as good unfortunately! I'll post it here as people have a right to see it but it's not too bad - honest!
9.
What's the string spacing on this?
Just had the tape-measure out and it seems to 18mm.
10. Price drop bump - £800. Last one I think. Grab a bargain for a beauty!
11. Further price reduction bump, now £850. This is a steal
12. *EDIT* After being up for sale for a while & not drumming up much interest for a cash sale, I'm open to trade offers for 4 string Warwick Thumbs & Streamers. Admittedly that's a pretty limited range but you never know! Trade value is £1200 as it won't let me edit the original cash value. __ This was made by Alan at ACG for Manchester Bass Lounge in 2013 and is in very good condition. There's a ding on the back of the neck but I can't feel it when playing - I need to take a photo of that at some point. It's the most balanced and crystal clear sounding bass I've ever owned or played and is ridiculously comfortable and easy to play - the filtered preamp is very intuitive when you get used to it and you can get so many more unique tones from it than a standard 3-band EQ. Here's the full spec: Body wood - black walnut Top wood - wenge Veneer - maple Finish - satin lacquer Neck - 5pc maple & wenge, asymmetric profile Headstock - matching wenge Fingerboard - Indian ebony Pickups - ACG FB humbuckers Electronics - ACG SEQ preamp (this is the basic filtered preamp offered by ACG which has two low pass filters and a blend). Hardware - Hipshot & Gotoh. TRADES: Warwick Thumb (4 string) Warwick Streamer (4 string) Any questions, give me a shout. 13.
Just such a massive improvement on what went before. So much so I have a daily look in on the site and Faecesbook. That 70's P is getting more and more tempting
Thanks karlfer, that's great to hear!
14. Thanks for the kind words guys! Those G&L Tributes are fantastic, the carved top L-2000s are Limited Editions I think. I've had my eye on that sunburst one as well! We've set up a new Facebook page too if anyone wants a shufty - https://www.facebook.com/greatbritishbasslounge All 'Likes' appreciated Tom
15. GBBL is open for business! http://greatbritishbasslounge.com/ Any feedback or comments are very welcome!
16. We have so many incredible British luthiers, Drew sees them as being unsung and undercredited (sites like Basschat & Talkbass being the exception) and wants to promote them to the wider bass playing audience. MBL is (GBBL will be also) a dealer for non-British brands (Sandberg, Tokai, G&L, Markbass, Gallien-Krueger, PJB) as new products and the pre-owned basses that come in will not be limited to just British builders. It'll be very similar to MBL as it exists now and Drew's customer service certainly won't change - it's just the focus is quality British stock and craftsmanship. Hope that clears things up a bit! Karlfer - I'm responsible for updating the MBL website, and I've just done the rebrand and website for The Great British Bass Lounge too. Everything on the site is usually as the stock is in the Bass Lounge. There are some basses that have been there for a while simply because they've not been sold yet. I do cock up every now and again and leave the odd one or two on by mistake but 99% of the time the website is an accurate representation of the Bass Lounge stock. Apologies if it appears otherwise. Feel free to message me if you'd like any more info. Cheers. Tom
17.
First time I visited there I think I played most of his basses - some lovely kit there. Was sorely tempted by the Jack Bruce Thumb but it was just a little pricey. MBL Site looks great - you've done a great job on it.
Much obliged!
