1.
Yeah, I've been looking at Overwaters too - i've heard some youtube vids and other tracks with them and like the sound (and the look)... any pics?
Pic. The pickups & preamp are really powerful and versatile. Comparing it to my Warwick Streamer which is all machine built - you can tell it's hand crafted but it feels so much sturdier. I'd highly recommend at least trying one out!
2. I bought one last month. Can't find any sound samples or demos of it anywhere so it was a bit of gamble but I'm glad I went for it! It really nails that super-saturated valve tone. It's not as growly or articulate as a Sansamp Bass Driver or a real-life cranked valve amp (of course) but it's pretty hefty and satisfying. I was surprised at how heavy it could sound - really satisfying a full distortion. Definitely worth trying one out in my opinion.
3. I took my Warwick Thumb BO5 to a store a few months ago with the intention of part-exing for a Dingwall ABZ. I was a bit infatuated with Dingwalls for a while and this particular one was the first I'd had the chance to play. Hated it! Wasn't anything to do with the fanned frets, it was so light (especially compared to the Thumb) and sounded really flat & lacked punch. Just seemed like half the bass the Warwick was. I was going to walk back out with my Thumb but I tried out an Overwater Perception instead and was blown away by it. I'd never heard of Overwater before and now I hardly put it down! (My first forum post btw!)
4. For sale is my Fender Blacktop Precision. Black lacquer finish with black 3ply black/white/black pickguard. I've had it from brand new from summer last year. These basses are made in Mexico, and this one is a great example: no blemishes in the finish and I've not gigged with it so it's in mint condition. The rosewood fingerboard is really nice too - quite highly figured for a Fender. The Blacktops are passive and have dual humbuckers which are really powerful and punchy. In fact this is the most powerful passive bass I've ever played. Controls are vol / vol / tone. The RRP is close to £700 and the lowest internet price i can find on these is about £550 so I thought I'd let this one go for [s]£395[/s] [s]£350[/s] £320. I'm not looking for a trade as I'm selling to fund a new acquisition. I'd prefer the buyer to collect (I'm in Manchester) but I'm happy to organise a courier at the buyer's expense. I have a battered Warwick gig bag that can go with it if anyone likes but I can't imagine it's a deal breaker! Any questions, just ask. Cheers.
