  1. Haha! Maybe we can settle on a compromise... strip the body, leave the neck? I do love how the neck looks as it is, and the bits that aren't dented are wonderfully smooth and rounded. The body hasn't aged as gracefully. This bass will stay with me whatever happens, so I'm not worried about it re-sale-ability.
  2. Is.... is that a bronco? Sounds great btw.
  3. Helloo BC'ers! Since I'm in the depths of my longest lockdown, I've started a few different projects. One of them is something I've wanted to do for years - I have a project bass! It's a 1978 Yamaha Pulser bass, in bad cosmetic condition, but it plays reasonably well and sounds incredible. I bought it in Bangkok for about £60, which is a great deal for something I anticipated would be much more screwed up than it actually is. Anyway, the plan is to strip the body and neck, refinish, refret, replace rusted hardware, scratch plate and these awful new tuners. Thankfully the electronics are in great shape. Also the body appears to be one piece of ash or similar wood. I'm thinking of going for a natural finish with tru oil. Basically I wanted to a project bass which had a very low possibility of ending up any worse than when I started Any advice from anyone more experienced on any part of this project would be greatly appreciated. Here's the 'before' pics:
  4. Cheers! I'm particularly fond of the pistols one.
  5. Haha! The thought definitely crossed my mind. I was even half expecting the school to censor the Cooking For The Queen song, just because it depicts general royalty in a cartoonish way. But I haven't been disappeared yet...
  6. I'm a teacher of children aged 4-6, and in my part of the world we're in the depths of lockdown. The school asked me to make weekly cooking class videos for the kids - and I'm happy to do so, but I aways thought the remote lessons of other teachers were a little dry. So I started recording songs and inserting mini music videos into my cooking class. It's a mixture of originals and foodified-ska versions of pop songs. The school loves it and even offered me a pay rise. Plus I'm feeling more productive than ever! Anyway, I thought some of you might appreciate these. edit: gotta express my appreciation for logic drummer as well. It's the best. Cheers! Z
  7. That is truly beautiful - I'd say that rosewood board is its finest feature!
  8. Now £350. Looking for a buyer
  9. 6 ohms! Well there we have it, from the source. Thanks for digging that up.
  10. Haha, thanks for the confirmation! Yes, it's outrageously light. Carry-with-one-hand light.
  11. It's actually a very loud 6 ohm. Dimensions H=75 W=53.5 D=40.5 I believe. Cheers
  12. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to be shipping it anywhere, collection is very much preferred. Thanks 😊
  13. Regrettably I have to sell my beloved Barefaced cab. This is of the first generation of Barefaced cabs, and has been used for many gigs - so it well loved and it sounds wonderful. I'm only selling as I need to fund my masters in Australia, and I can't feasibly bring it with me. It is a 15" and an 6.5" speaker in one box, with a sophisticated crossover, and it is damn loud and punchy. At the time of production it was the Barefaced flagship model, the predecessor to the Big Twin. I play it with a Terror Bass and it kills, but it'll perform excellently with almost any amp. It is awesome in a loud rocknroll band and a very loud ska band. As you'd expect from barefaced, it's light. It's a wonderful one cab solution for a relatively small powerful rig. Areas that are showing wear are the handles - they are beginning to wear out, but are still functional. The cloth is also sagging just a little near the top of the cab - I have included lots of pics to illustrate this. It's rough and ready for rock n roll. I'm not in the UK at the moment, so I can arrange for buyer to view / pickup at my brother's studio in Southampton. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask and I'll reply as soon as I can. Cheers, Zak
  14. Sadly today Toots Hibbert passed away. I am heartbroken.
  15. My new COVID style video. Took months to organise!! Ska counts
  16. He did, and still does! Toots, Gil Scott Heron, the list goes on. Such a legend. 84 years old and switched right on.
  17. From Bob Marley to Duarte. I think I know which he would describe as career defining!
  18. Thought you guys would appreciate this - I put together another Ska lockdown video, but recruited the GREAT Larry McDonald for Djembe duties.
  19. It was SO much fun to produce and play on this one, with family and friends, plus some legends. Larry McDonald (percussionist for Bob Marley, Gil Scott Heron, Toots, Lee Scratch Perry and countless others) kindly agreed to be a part of this, for the sake of making music. David Hillyard of The Slackers was also humble enough to join us again. Ah man, I wish this band could play together in real life.
  20. Ahhh, beautiful. I've just been catching up with everyone's lockdown videos, and I'm glad to find these.
  21. That was superb!
  22. It sounds incredible - super growly and aggressive in tone bypassed mode, super deep and phat in tone on mode. Silent in off mode!
  23. Ordered a custom Jazz bass loaded control plate from KiOgon, and his work was flawless. Super accommodating and great guy to deal with. Thank you!
