Could you get it any more wrong?
itsmedunc replied to itsmedunc's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
In all fairness, it is a very rare 6-string bass with a remarkably short scale ...
With a bridge? Or is it photoshopped? -
Cheap wireless bass/guitar sistem. Should i buy it?
itsmedunc replied to borxas's topic in General Discussion
I got a wireless system ages ago. I thought it would solve all my problems. It didn't. It caused more. More wires, batteries, still carried spare leads etc. Did my head in quickly and I sold it even quicker... -
Avoid shipping anything musical with Myhermes
itsmedunc replied to itsmedunc's topic in General Discussion
In fact if you look at the list there's virtually nothing that isn't prohibited! -
If you are thinking of shipping anything musical by myhermes, think again. Recently a guitar I sent via their service was destroyed in the post and they will not pay out on the insurance. Apparently musical instruments are on their prohibited list. This is not the first time I have had trouble with them with an insurance claim. https://www.myhermes.co.uk/help/carry-guide.html Dunc

Just received a TU-3 tuner from Chris. Exactly as he said it would be and it couldn't have arrived any quicker if he had fired it from a cannon from Scotland! I'm amazed...! Cheers Chris.
Just out of curiosity, can you bi-amp that cab?
I think you can with a 1516b but I'm not 100%. I'm not sure if this is the B either. Could be... -
UPDATE - I looked through the thread where I got it from and there's a couple of things I had forgotten about, the thread says its a 1990 not 93/94, it has been copper shielded and it has Fender 62 pickups installed! Bonus. Final drop Brilliant P bass made in Japan around 93/94. It plays and sounds as good as any USA or Japanese Fender I have ever played. Its slightly under 9lb on the digital bathroom scales, 42mm at the nut and 64mm. The fretboard doesn't feel wide though like some. Its in very good condition with a couple of little chips. Nothing nasty, no big scratches or gouges etc. Its an aged creamier colour than in some of the pictures. The Fender decal was professionally fitted before I got the bass. A lot and time and care was taken with it. The serial number on the decal is the correct Squier serial for the bass. It also came with replacements of the originals incase the owner wished to change it back to stock. I have them somewhere... A few mods have been made - replacement straplocks and pins, Fender neckplate, tug bar and of course cream pup covers. I have the original parts which will be included in the sale. In truth, I do not want to sell this bass but I have a few expensive purchases coming up and I cant justify keeping so many basses. So, sadly it must go. Photos at - http://s871.photobuc...r?sort=3&page=1 I will try and get some more photos up tomorrow. Price doesn't include postage. You can always collect from Blackburn BB2 which I would much perfer.

But this 2004 has open back http://www.chicagomu...s-sunburst-2004 Saying that the truss rod on this looks like its at the headstock? I'm getting confused now!
-
It looks like there's something going on around the neckplate? It looks like a high mass bridge but still hard to tell. The serial is correct according to guitardaterproject. The decal is like the one on this http://www.musiccitypickers.com/2003-or-2004-fender-usa-standard-precision-bass-sold/ The tuners are different though. I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination but I'm sure one will be along shortly!

Now i love my blazer's but come on

Thats a lot of money for an Old School Blazer! -
Final drop With a heavy heart this is up for sale. I got it on BC from Rayman (only a few months ago). I can honestly say it is one of the best sounding and playing bass I have ever owned. I usually use Precision/Jazz but wouldn't hesitate to take this out as a first choice. Lovely neck and low action, good balance. Its in really good condition with only a couple of small cosmetic issues (tried to photo). It also comes with a nice hard Gator case (with keys!). The case has some marks etc but its in overall good condition and has done its job well. This should really be a 'keeper' but its up for sale as its a little too heavy for me now (4.5k). Its a shade under 40mm at the nut and 64 at the heel. Rayman will know more about it but its one of the early models (2004) that are far superior to the ones that can be bought today. It truly is a great bass for the money. Raymans original thread (hope you dont mind Rayman) with a couple more pics of Rayman and the bass in action! Cheers Dunc

Why would someone want do this to a 74 Precision?

I dont know if it makes a difference but I registered at bassstringsonline (free) and the prices below are what I have just been quoted. I ordered a set of vi strings recently and there was no import charge either. 4 string low tension sets from bassstringsonline.com (which you get directed to from La Bella) are $44.95 and $12 shipping = $56.95 a quick conversion on google says that comes to £33.76. 5 string sets are $59.95 plus $12 shipping. $71.95 in pounds should come to around £42.65. http://www.bassstringsonline.com/Low-Tension-Flexible-Flats_c_1501.html Hope this helps...

Why would someone want do this to a 74 Precision?
itsmedunc replied to itsmedunc's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I can't see the problem with it, I can't see a 74 Precision having any great future value unless it is in exceptional condition, I am currently trying to shift a 79 Precision on Evilbay, it is not an exceptional bass just another old Precision, despite it being offered way cheaper than anything else of that vintage I have had absolutely no sensible interest in it....I doubt it would decrease the value if I had it refinished in some modernist colour scheme. I think there are the golden years of the Precision which will always go up in value and then there are just Precisions, yes a mint 70's example may have some value but a run of the mill 70's Precision seems to be worth less than a current new example...which to be fair is probably the better instrument
If its the Oly white with white plate, I nearly bid on that! I see the starting price has now gone up a bit...? To be honest if I had known at the time it was a BCer I probably would have done but there's that many conmen on ebay it put me off. -
You can just imagine Arnie reading out the description! I think his sales patter may well ensure that nobody will ever buy it! Breadcrumbs? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-Soviet-Vintage-Electric-Guitar-AELITA-230-BL-USSR-/171314682154?pt=Guitar&hash=item27e326992a

I quite fancy these. I stopped using flats as they always felt a bit tight for me. Recently I got a Silver Series Jazz with flats on and I really like the sound but they still feel a bit that way. Just had a look on their site and they work out at £34.00 ish delivered from the good old USA. I think I might give them a go...

Why would someone want do this to 78 Musicmaster!
itsmedunc replied to itsmedunc's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I suppose it only needs another neck and body and it would be as good as new!
