2.
Looking to buy another bass on here, so for sale is my beloved SGC Nanyo Bass Collection 4-string. Sparkly silver colour! I've had this bass for 16 years, and it's seen plenty of action, though I have always taken good care of it. Everything is original, including the SGC Nanyo PJ pickups, except that I have replaced the preamp with an ACG one, costing about £190, just a few months ago but I have played the bass little since then having bought a lovely Ibanez SR. Condition is pretty good for its age, though there are a couple of chips out of the paintwork here and there, nothing major. Currently strung with DR Neon strings (green)! Looking for £400 for this because of the awesome preamp. No trades, thanks, as I have my eye on something particular. Not entirely sure what model this is, but it's probably an SB310. The serial no. in the cavity is on a sticker which is hard to see from the angle in the pic. The serial no is 912392, so this was made in 1991. I have tried to show all of the marks in the paint in the pics!
Good luck with the sale mate I have the passive version on here for £150 but after one timewaster have had no other interest. Great basses for little money. Far better than a Squire and real wood not ply or basswood sh*te.
 3.
OK - what do we need to say about these? - but you all probably know anyway.... The original Bass Collection series made by Nanyo in Japan (who bought out the Sexton Guitar Company - Hence SGC) were high quality instruments... just look at the way the neck matches with the body - the use of Gotoh tuners etc NOT to be confused with the current SX models - which - although good value for money - simply do not compare I see a basschatter has a passive one up for £150 - are you guys mad? how come its still there? This is 4-string - active - in a deep, almost translucent, red It does have an extra switch fitted - apparently, the previous owner had to replace the jack socket - but wired it incorrectly so the battery was always on - so, instead of sorting it, put a switch in to manually turn the battery off ! - needless to say its all sorted now and the switch is redundant - but left there because otherwise there would be a nasty hole! (thats the cut-off red wires in the electrics cavity) its a SB310 series with a serial number starting 95 so must be one of the very last to have been made in japan before production by SGC Nanyo shifted to Korea for a very short time before ceasing completely (I actually have one of the SGC Nanyo Korean BC's) I'm putting this up for only £199 - cheap for what I think is one of the most under-rated and under-valued basses around - in my very humble opinion ! buit what I would *really* like is a P/X or Trade for an electro acoustic 6-string (sorry!) of decent quality - Takamine or so - anyone interested?? These bass can only be seen as a good investment in these worrying financial times - prices starting to go up on 'bay now ( I also have a black one - with EMGs - that I might be persuaded to part with for the right deal Any trial / inspection most welcome - could probably find some coffee or a beer... I'm in Poole - south coast - sometimes sunny - sometimes wet... pics below - hopefully other stuff which has to go which i'll get round to listing sometime.... Ibanez SDGR 4-string - active - sunburst - Japanese - not sure which model - pics available - £160 MarkBass 2 x 10 combo *BUT* with the LMK 2-channel amp (came from good b'chatter a year or so ago - no longer used for the sort of stuff I do now) - £650 Eden WT-405 (Time Traveller) - £450 Peavey Bandit 65 guitar combo - £75
Hi Roger. I'm the guy selling the black passive SGC for £150. Thanks for the bump and I hope you have more luck shifting this beauty If I had the cash I would have this off you. I already have an active one but yours is a bit nicer. Cheers and good luck with the sale these are quality instruments for not a lot of cash.

 9.
Usually S2 models don't come with neck and head binding, nor gold hardware. That's the only thing that looks customized.
What I don't understand is why it has gold hardware and chrome tuners

 15.
Hi Ive got one of these Ive had it ages. I thought the bridge had been changed but yours is exactly the same as mine. The reason I suspected a bridge change is that I have 4 bass collections and the other 3 have a different style Gotoh bridge. My other 3 are active. I use the passive one for backup or outdoor gigs in the rain (like todays music festival). Ive thought about selling mine but you cannot get anything like the quality for the same money. skez
Thanx For the comments Skez. I also have the active version and the bridge is different on that too. These are excellent basses and I can't understand why they didn't stick around for long when they first went on sale. I have a USA Fender Jazz in my collection and to be honest this bass comes close playability wise and it is so light too. Only selling as I need the cash for other things.

 17.
How much does this bass weigh? Thanks
Approx 7lb. whatever that is in kilos Im an imperial man myself. Hope this helps.

 19. Bought Mike's Sgc Nanyo Bass Collection SB 110 off him. Paid for it Monday night and It was here Thursday morning, packed to withstand a bomb blast and he even included a gig bag which I wasn't expecting. Great communication all the way, a credit to Basschat. All the best Mike.
 20.
A quick update ... over four years after transferring this topic from Basschat's predecessor website, I've only gone and bought another SGC Nanyo Bass Collection (Made In Japan) with a serial number starting 95. I've been Bass Collection-free for the past three years but never quite got over them, kept hankering for another. This one really doesn't disappoint, an SB310 series factory fretless. Just as light and well-balanced as I remember, just as easy to play. It remains one of the biggest mysteries of modern bass-playing, IMHO, why these basses change hands for so little money.
Just picked up a SB110 with active electronics serial number is 000229. £130 +p/p I've read this thread all 11 pages and nobody mentions the SB110. I've also got an SB301 serial 26907 how do I date these from the serial numbers on them. They both have subtle differences, different Bridges, SGC on the pick ups in different places, angle of the jack socket and screws on the backplate in different positions. Any info would be helpfull. Ta.
