Barefaced Super Twin. Shall I? UPDATE: "out for delivery"
JapanAxe replied to fretmeister's topic in Amps and Cabs
I voted YES, but maybe check the BC Marketplace for a while first! -
Is it a blue light bulb, blue LED, or a whit light of either kind under a blue cover? Can you post a pic of it in situ?

It’s probably only a matter of time before someone mentions the ‘true’ output power of TC amps being less than the number on the box. Having owned and gigged a TC, I’d say they certainly sound as loud as that number.

Stick-on feet are a cheap solution for light Class D heads, but surely bigger Class AB and valve heads still come with proper feet unless they are purely intended for rack mounting.
-
On some amp heads I've owned, the feet haven't been tall enough to let the amp stand clear of a top handle on the cab. I've had to fit taller feet, but that means finding bolts of the right gauge that are long enough to engage with the threads, but not so long that they risk fouling the amp's innards. If the feet you receive aren't adequate, take a trip to Wilko. In their hardware section they do a range of self-adhesive rubber feet. Also their doorstops can be re-purposed as feet, although they are not especially grippy.

I bet it would sound great through a BF One 10!

Nothing makes me want to dance more than Marie’s Wedding, preferably the version Van Morrison recorded with the Chieftains.
-
I had the Cream Machine. You could connect a speaker and get one very dirty watt of guitar through it. I knew about the other preamps but I didn’t know they did a power amp module.
-
I have a completely illogical hankering after one of these.

And we haven’t even mentioned the highs and lows of GAS...

Surely amp-less bass (and to some extent ampless electric guitar) depends on having a very powerful PA? At one time that equated to 'huge and heavy' but not so much now. Last Autumn I played a couple of dep gigs where the lead guitar was DI'd from a Fractal (I think) but they still asked me to use my bass amp and cab at a decent onstage volume, and put it through the PA to beef it up for the FOH mix (in a huge marquee). I enjoyed that, but I'm probably not alone in thinking that having only DI'd bass might be lacking in the fun factor.

I fear this could bite quite hard on a few EU online stores - Thomann, Musik Produktiv, Kitary, Banzai etc.

This lovely all-valve Ampeg head is for sale for a reason we all know well - GAS. My eye is on something shinier, and pressure on beer tokens and cupboard space means this has to go. For those unfamiliar with the model, it couples Ampeg's well-known preamp, featuring selectable mid frequency and of course Ultra-Hi and Ultra-Lo buttons, to a 6L6-powered output stage. Round the back is a choice of balanced outputs, one from the preamp, the other taken from a tapping of the output transformer. Output impedance is selectable between 4ohm and 8ohm, and it has an onboard 8ohm dummy load for silent recording with no speaker connected. There is also an easy-to-use bias setting control. Speaker output is via a single 1/4in jack socket. If you are worried that 50W is not loud enough, remember these are magical VALVE watts, so the amp punches well above its 50W weight. I have used this live in small to large venues through three different Barefaced cabs and it has never been 'not loud enough'. In one particularly large hall it did start to sound a bit 'furry' at volume, but in a thoroughly gorgeous way. Condition is excellent, and the amp comes in its original box with manual and swing tag. Early examples had a hum issue arising from the grid biasing arrangement, but this one does not exhibit that problem. Price is £449 collected or meet-up (preferred). Insured delivery (UK mainland only) would come in at about £20 extra.

Barefaced Super Twin filled my need for One Cab To Rule Them All. I usually have to roll off some bass at the amp to get my preferred tone, so no shortage of low end. That said, having bought a One 10 I am now lusting after that sweet vintage-y sound in a more powerful package, eg 2x10...

<|| NOW JUST £130 - see edit below ||> The PSA-1 is a 1U rack device that uses analog modelling to simulate the sounds of classic amps. Effectively you can set separate distortion levels for low, mid, and high frequencies. It comes loaded with 49 presets covering various Marshall, Fender and Boogie amps as well as bass amps. The signal path is 100% analog, but you can save settings to one of 49 user memory locations. The programs can be accessed form Up/Down buttons on the front panel, or by MIDI program change. The Tech 21 'character' pedals use the same sort of technology but with some of the parameters pre-set to suit the kind of amp they are mimicking. Here you have the full range of tweakability. The PSA-1 can be considered a pre-amp or an amp simulator, but it doesn't have any onboard speaker simulation as such. It can be used into a clean guitar or bass amp, or into a power amp with a suitable guitar or bass cab. For direct recording most of the (dirtier) sounds also require a cab simulator device, IR loader or similar. Even so, I recorded the clean guitar in this clip without a cab sim. To me, the standout guitar presets are 07 (Hendrix - Marshall), 12 (Stevie Ray - Fender) and 48 (AC30 Queen). There are also a number of bass presets including SVT and Bassman. As is usually the case with presets, you probably won't like them all, so copy one you like to an empty memory slot and tweak away. There are plenty of connectivity options including front and rear inputs, FX loop, balanced outs, and MIDI in/out. The unit is in full working order. There is an in-line IEC plug/socket part way down the mains lead, which makes it easier to run through rack panels. The only negatives I can find are: (1) The Up/Down buttons sometimes jump more than one increment at a time (but it's easy enough to go back to where you want to be); (2) Some of the lettering has worn away on the rear panel; I don't have a hard copy manual but you can download it here. Reason for sale: I have used this much less since getting a Revival Drive! EDIT: I have just refunded the original buyer and this is now back up for sale at just £150 £130 delivered. The buyer reported that the unit exhibited a random clicking in use. I realised this had happened to me once, and I also remembered what it was and how to fix it. When you call up a preset, the unit uses the stored data to set all the parameters. Once you start turning the controls, it 'reads' the parameter values from the pot settings. When you turn a control it updates these values, and you can get a click. Also if one of them is near the crossover point between one value and the next, it can jump back and forth between these values, again causing a click each time this happens. If you save settings to a spare memory location as you go, the clicking goes away. The buyer agreed this seemed to be the case, but requested a refund, which I was happy to provide as this would have been in the description had I remembered it. I have had the unit plugged in this evening and I have been unable to get it to misbehave. However, it can happen, and it is an easy fix. So, yours for just £150 £130, looking like it does, and with some minor niggles as described here. No trades thanks. These are selling for a lot more on eBay! Not really looking for trades thanks. Here's a dude showing off some of the guitar presets: Photos:

Africa by Toto: 'As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengeti'. Except it doesn't. The peak of Mount Kilimanjaro lies about 150 miles outside the borders of the Serengeti National Park, which is therefore too distant to be seen even from Kilimanjaro's lofty elevation.

So they are relying on making money by selling punters overpriced comestibles. I'll pass, thanks.
