  1. Offers accepted (reasonable). Put these Spiros on your bass and forget about changing strings for the rest of your natural life (or indeed for a very, very long time, whichever is the longest).
  2. £80 - won’t go lower. Set of Spiros Medium S42 used on one bass for 4 months (6 or 7 gigs tops). they are in excellent conditions with many, many years left ahead of them and I’ve done the hard work of playing them for the first couple of months of the G zing….bargain! (Each string comes in its sleeve but I don’t have the box - still, I will pack them well for postage).
  3. Hi all, I have a brand new box of Thomastik Spirocore S42 Medium (red silks) that I don’t use and I would like to sell. (I had originally planned to swap them, but I’m not sure what strings I need instead, so cash is best just now). The cheapest U.K. price for Spiro is £199, but Thomann sells them for £144, so let’s say £130 U.K. posted. postage outside the U.K. will be charged (but I would rather post to U.K. only due to current hassles with shipping)
  4. Bought a trusty old Fishman Plat Pro from Clarky and zooooom…it was here within a day with excellent packaging and no bother whatsoever. Top bloke!
  5. My wife’s Zafira 7 seater is a dream for double bass. In my 12 years of covering large distances touring with a double bass I have had some great cars and also made some mind boggling idiotic choices… It is true that you can get a double bass in any car (I toured the U.K. in a Fiat Panda 4x4), however, if you transport the double bass often, you don’t want to risk putting your back out every single time you put the bass in and out, and you don’t want the potential to damage the bass either. So, whatever you go for, I’d make sure it is long enough to slide the bass in from the boot with the seats flat (or a 60/40 split) and that it does not have a boot lip. Other than that, anything goes. Best of luck!
  6. I have a solid woods Czech Ease and I must say, when well set up, it is a great instrument. At the moment, air travels are no longer a feature for me either, and yet, my own Czech Ease is great for small cramped venue stages (the bread and butter gigs), loud gigs (thankfully not too many of them but otherwise so hard to amplify) and above all the wonderful chance to practice double bass while sitting on the sofa! Mine comes from a dear friend and mentor, so I would probably never sell it, but I’m so glad to have one that I think it can be a good addition to the family of many other bass players. I’d say it shouldn’t be your main bass though, because it’s still missing a good chunk of wood, although the sound is really awesome! Basically GLWTS
  7. This is a great piece of kit…as such I should keep it. Alas, I don’t use it…and I would use the money…so I hope it finds a good home soon.
  8. Great preamp for very cheap (all considered). There is no other preamp on the market that gives this functionality at this price. Personally the only criticism is that the dials are small, but the same point is what makes it so awesomely portable too. I can’t offer any live experience on this one but I gigged it’s wee brother EDB-1 and it was great. I know of 2 or 3 other preamps on the market that offer the same blending and tone shaping options, but they cost twice as much (EBS) three times as much (AI Flex) and over 5 times as much (Grace Felix). Any questions please ask.
  9. Spirocore S42W - Weich (light) set. I tried it for 2 months only on one bass, so as you can see in the photos, every string is in just about new condition. In fact I should charge more because I’ve done the putting up with the G string “zing” for a couple of weeks, so now they all sound amazing and ready for you!
  10. Withdrawn a couple of days ago, but I’ve decided to sell it after all.
  11. The latest model of this “Swiss army knife” of acoustic amplification with all the bells and whistles. I have never actually used it on gigs and it is surplus to my requirements. Practically as new, with its own power supply and manual.
  12. As new, tried at home and never gigged. I had done a few gigs with another Remic Green before Covid, so I thought I would buy one to use forever, but it no longer suits my needs, so I would prefer to make some cash than having it sit in the house idle. It is a great mic in that it is the most feedback resistant mic out there. It’s not quite as feedback resistant as a pickup, but it is pretty awesome considering it’s a mic. It has a naturally bassy tone, which may suit some, but for everyone else rolling down a little bit of bass eq produces a very clean microphone tone. Requires 48v phantom to work. The price of the D5400LB is 600 euros plus vat plus postage plus taxes, so I think the price tag here is a total steal! I hope you agree. Any questions please ask.
  13. Ah! I do fancy one of these, alas, I lack the dinero! Somebody get it please
  14. Sold Alex some Evah Weich strings: immediate payment and excellent communication. Top class.
  15. £100 for Basschatters but that’s as low as it’s going to get. Cheerie
