1. A superb combo that I will be sad to see go. The reputation of these really does preceed them. The built in lock and roll wheels and handle system make it quite easy to handle for its weight. It's about 18 months old, has a lovely padded custom-made cover from amplifiercovers.com. These are £599 from Soundslive (and out of stock). £400 Collected or meet halfway. 2. Now sold on evilbay to someone in France.
  3. I sleep like a log after a gig usually. Though when I wake up I feel a bit down, like there's something missing. Do I grieve the passing of the previous gig? Who knows? It certainly has some kind of emotional effect and I agree that that "hole" is very easy to fill with whatever is around, fortunately nowadays that's tea and marmite on toast.
  4. I always have a back up but you really can't argue with Stewart's logic. I carry a DI in case the rig goes pop which is more likely. I have seen quite a few string breaks over the years though fortunately never my own.
  5.
There's a 44-02 on EvilBay with a buy it now tag at £1,099. 5th string has to add a bit on top of course
The 44-02 is a Skyline, the 55-94 is a USA. Different animals. But I'd say around £1250 - 1500 would be right for a used USA 55-94 depending on condition, finish etc. Detailed explanation of skylive vs. USA here http://www.lakland.com/skyline_vs_us.htm Best comparison for prices is this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lakland-55-94-bass-g...p3286.m63.l1177 Hope this helps.
  6.
Good question! I'd love to see a Who tribute band, having seen the original band a few times and always feeling that my ears don't hurt as much as they should afterwards
I think he might have those bits of tape to prevent earth buzz problems but saying that now he would have to have them at the top if he plays conventionally.

    Boss ME-8 (Ex-Demo)
MB1. Have you seen how much that one on EBAYs got to!
£151!!! Anyone on here buy it? Told you they were sought after. Could have bought that one in the link above and made a tidy profit.

    Amy & the Aviators

A rare appearance of Amy & the Aviators in a pub. Beautiful setting up on the Gloucester - Berkley canal, good food, great ciders and think they even have beer (cold, pale, fizzy and warm, brown, flat types) for those who are of that persuasion. AATA are primarily a function band, fronted by the very sexy Amy J in her littleblack dress. The Aviators air crew perform their backing duties in full customised flying suits and deliver a hugely entertaining and polished show.
  9. Quite a bit of interest but no one has followed through yet. Huge sounding bass, beautiful flame maple, superb quality.

    Zoom B2.1U?

I love mine it's great. Brilliant effects for what I use. Great backup DI and volume pedal is always useful as is the tuner, drum patterns and portability as a practise amp. Oh yeah and it's great as a soundcard/interface.
  12. I know a lot of people who worship Stuart Zender go bananas for these things so I thought I'd alert you all to it. http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/products/33...cessor_ex_demo_
  13. Lakland Skyline Darryl Jones 4. I've been so impressed with mine over the year that I've had it that I just had to get a spare. "Honestly Love, if the one breaks a string during a song the rest of the song wouldn't sound right on another type of bass and I don't want to be the one to let the whole band down."
  14. I got an ATK400 and love it - there's a review of it here... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;hl=ibanez+atk
  15. Ashdown ABM500 Evo II Head and ABM 414H Cab (4 Ohm Version) £250 Fantastic condition - always stored in cover. Cover included for cab was made by amplifiercoversonline.co.uk and is a top quality piece of kit. Collection or meet halfway (for fuel cast) if reasonable distance. I'm in Gloucester and you're more than welcome to view it and try it out. Any questions, you know what to do... Thanks Sean
  16.
So can anyone tell me, is this a korean bass?
http://www.lakland.com/skyline_vs_us.htm The Skylines are superb instruments.
  17. I recently recorded with my DJ4 (identical to this one) and have had a lot of complements on the sound of it on the recording. The sound engineer loved the thing and there were moments when I thought I wasn't going to get it back!!! ;-) It really breathes well and is growly and sounds exactly like a bold Jazz type bass should. They are generally very light and comfortable and the necks are really special. I wouldn't be without mine.
  18.
Also, on the new music front, there's thousands (millions) born every year for whom old music is new music. It could be the case that at your next gig, you might play Mustang Sally and someone there will be hearing it for the very first time.
I agrre absolutely, Pete and I would add to that the fact that a lot of younger people who are into music don't categorise Jimi Hendrix and Led Zep as "old" music and say Tool as "new" music - it's just all a bunch of stuff all on sale at the same place ready to be bought and enjoyed. Growing up I listened to a hell of a lot of music that was "before my time" (I really dislike that phrase) but was always conscious of what was new and what was old, I think that awareness is disappearing and probably for the best.

  20.
I mean I sure as hell wouldn't play Mustang Sally for anyone, but that's just having standards.
What if you were invited to jam with one of your heroes and it just so happened that the song chosen was Mustang Sally? Extreme example but just say...

  22.
get yourself a nice Compressor pedal - the EBS multicomp is awesome. It'll help give you that boost to hep the slap stuff cut through.... Dave
+1 - I use the same pedal and once you have found the right setting for you you'll come through with whatever bass you have. If you can try recording your songs at rehearsals with different compressor settings making a note of where the knobs are and listening back and then choosing what works for you. Good ole trial and error - cos sometimes what sounds good to you where you are standing doesn't sound so good out front and vice versa.
  23.
because they see them as 'plain vanilla'.
Vanilla is a very pungent and exotic spice.
  24.
Our band have decided to include Road Rage in the set - try as I might I can't find any bass tabs anywhere - can anyone help?
It's on my list to learn too but not for a couple of weeks yet. I'll see if I can work it out and let you have a copy. A good starting point with transcribing is to start with a chord chart which you can get from a tab site for guitar and just play roots on the changes while playing along, this should give you a starting point for working out the structure or at least enables you to jam along until you have the proper bass line. I always get the chord changes down then start looking at the the individual bass figures within the song - most rock songs have a verse figure and a chorus figure and a few bits to join up the sections and a bridge. Have a go and see how far you get - it's a great feeling when you start copping licks by ear.
