1. ...does it make any difference? We are based in the UK, does it matter if we sign up with BMI - (other than it's free)! I know how they work and I know what they do - I just wanna know if it makes any difference which one I sign up with... Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers!

 7.
If Twiggy's tips don't help, and nothing else seems to work. Then try ASIO4ALL. It always sounds daft to use an asio wrapper on a card which already has asio support - however, some interfaces come with absolutely rubbish asio drivers. What's the problem with your midi controllers? How does one disrupt the other? Since it is certainly possible to use more than one USB midi controller, you shouldn't be having an issue.
Well you would have thought so... The POD connects via USB and my Sonar interface is firewire w/a MIDI'd control surface. If you fire Sonar up with the POD plugged in and switched on, the outputs override the other interface and the control surface - although it can be used as a keyboard - no longer functions as a controller. I think it just clashes...
 8. I know this is stupid but you know how it is... ...If I use an Ebow on my active bass, will it damage it...?!
 9. Hi all, I've recently purchased a Line 6 POD XTL, which I use with Sonar 6.0. I like to have the POD USB'd into my laptop so I can make changes on the fly, as you do. This poses a bit of an issue because the POD shows up as a MIDI controller which disrupts my M-Sudio MIDI controller - but that's by-the-by. My question is this - since starting to use the POD I've noticed that Cakewalk seems to be dropping out more and Audio control is generally worse. I noticed that I had Sonar set up using ASIO and also that the POD shows up as ASIO. Should I therefore consider changing Sonar to WDM in order to avoid a clash, or am I barking up the wrong tree? Ta!

 11.
i would argue it shows a lack of appreciation for people going beyond the accepted norm?
You could argue that, yes...
 12.
Try again....re-read.
Nope - still don't get it. But then given that I fall into at least one of your categories, I guess I wouldn't would I?

 14.
1,Then you are a good person and you are allowed a stay of execution....... 2,Of course...My statement was madness,But how many here are capable of critique on an equal musical level??? 3,They dont, but who can blame them? A quantity of people on here..are..not....very..good..musicians...(said at risk)....dont read/wont read types..The 'I cant see the point in 5/6/+ string Basstuned instruments...The sort that if these 'better' musicians attempt to give a hand too, would just end up being unable to see the aid being handed too them... I think there's a lot to be learnt from and for all,me included. Last night i was shown a great tip on 'Cleaning' with WD40...and 'Bore oil' is THE BEST for Ebony & Rosewood fingerboards.
Hmm... ...#3 - according to whose criteria? Also why is not seeing the point of a bass with more than 4 strings indicative of not being a good musician...?

 16.
Vic is great in the early Flecktones stuff, I think he got the mix spot on on Three Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest - one of my favourites. He is a product of his own success now, in that he gets paid to showcase - all the time - and every solo record has to be flashier to keep that income in to a certain extent. Vicious circle I reckon. Personally his solo records have never done it for me like Manrings stuff does. I'm not a huge fan of jazz, but Michael Manrings' Drastic Measures is just awesome. And IMO this is the finest solo bass piece I've ever seen (although its not in any way conventioanl bass playing) I defy anyone to say that isn't staggeringly musical, and taking bass beyond the role of support in a completely convincing fashion. And no widdly slappity tappity stuff anywhere, its mainly great big long whole notes over a drone....
Now THAT is pushing the boundaries - reminds me of Rothko. I love this style and it just seems to me to so much more inventive than all that widdly-chops b0ll0x. Maybe that's the thing though - maybe I just don't get it.
 17.
Yeah you can't really judge a player on what you see at a clinic. Poor sod's got to show off his chops all day every day and it's all going to end up on the internet for people like us to point at and say "No soul".
+1 Seriously though, that is f**kin dull.
 18. I use fairly heavy compression all the time, love it.

 21. I would really rate Zoom products. I have a Zoom 4 track and it's been excellent.
 22. I love it - you're really good. The result of this is threefold: 1. I'm going to favourite you on YouTube. 2. I am never going to post anything of my own on YouTube. 3. I'm going to start practicing A Lot More.

 24.
The more I think about it, the more I realise that it's just about aesthetics. I'm not so sure that anyone who gets a relic'ed guitar is trying to fool anyone into thinking that they actually have a 60s strat (well, maybe a few people). Take this, for instance. I like peeling paint more than fresh paint. I like stained wood more than I like clean wood. I like objects that have patina better than objects that are shiny-new. I like dirty better than clean. I like chaos better than order. Here's a picture of something I find completely beautiful: So to someone else that just a mess, right? Not to me. Okay, so granted the above photo is "real" decay, but I wouldn't find it any less appealing if someone deliberately did that to a building.
Actually, I really like that photo as well...
