5. Hi Guys, £900 I'm looking to sell this fantastic bass as I'm needing to use a 5 string much more. It comes with all the case candy and the new Fender hard case. Also, worth mentioning that the bass is immaculate. There are no dinks or scratches or anything of the sort. Comes with Schaller strap locks and the original Fender strap that came with the bass. It is a 2013 Model Jazz. I'm in Quarry Hill, Leeds (Right behind the LCoM building). Or I'll be back in the Midlands (Birmingham) in around December time. Trades considered are 5 string fenders .... Feel free to PM me about anything. Manraj

  7. The arrangement of Fast Car is beautiful, love those chords !
  8. Just put this in on Spofity and loved it ! Nice find
  9. You'll stress your fretting hand on 'What is hip'. What happens is once you become comfortable with the technique of having your hand slightly rest on the frets, it becomes easier and easier. Believe me, I had to play this note perfect for an A level exam . Also, as you get better and better at it you start to do it without noticing and it becomes another technique in your 'muscle memory' or whatever they call it.
  10.
Hi all, I just came home from the summer 3 weeks residency 2014 at Wooten Woods (Victor Wooten´s center for music and nature), and would like to share my experience as a student there. To put it short, I had a fantastic time and learned more than I thought was possible in such a short time. Victor and his team of first-class musicians/instructors gave lessons in a wide range of aspects of music, such as theory, technique, performance, improvisation, career advice, etc. The opportunity to play with and get feedback from these world-class musicians was very inspirational. I also greatly enjoyed the nature sessions, which included creating fire by rubbing sticks together, building a debris hut, nature awareness and use of the senses (very important in music!) plus a lot more. Even the food was outstanding! To summarize: strongly recommended! Atle Refsdal, Norway
I'd love to go if someone paid for me ! On a student budget it's nearly impossible ...
  11.
It happens even when I slap an open string. What seems to be happening is, the heel of my slapping hand is touching the string just in front of the pickup, about halfway along the string between the end of the fretboard and the bridge. I sat down and tried to correct it last night but I'm struggling.
It maybe that your thumb isn't quick enough to pull off when you thump on the string. Even a slight touch when you have slapped the string could cause a harmonic. Does it happen with a fretted note ?
  12.
Hi Scott, thanks for posting this. Unfortunately I'm getting "an error occurred" when I press play. ps - any tips for avoiding sympathetic harmonics when slapping? I'm using the bony part of my thumb, I'm whipping it off after the slap and I'm attacking at the edge of the fretboard, but still getting an infuriating "HOOO".
When you slap do you have your fretting hand covering a place where harmonic occur ? E.G 5th, 7th frets. I used to do this a lot and thought I wasn't built for slapping but then I noticed my hand would be covering the harmonic place when I was muting the string. To get rid of this all I did was shift my hands ever so slightly and bam, my slap sound didn't have that humming underneath!
  13.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pATcvr3zAhg alright player? lol really?
I nicked alot of his licks from this video. Must've watched this over 1000 times ! Immense Groove !
  14. Hey guys, Cheers for the replies ! I have Sibelius 7 and have been using it for a couple of months now. Just managed to get my head around the damn thing!
What part of writing it down are you having trouble with? Notes? Rhythm? Just take it easy..you can already read, so you know where the notes are and their values.Take it slowly, count the rhythm to make sure it adds up and generally take it one note at a time. The more you do, the easier and quicker it will become. I've got Sibelius, but I still use manuscript paper and a pencil (to erase mistakes) most of the time.I just find it easier and quicker- It takes me half the time to write it out as it does on the computer.
Hey Doddy, it's the rhythm values that are doing my head in when trying to write down some lines. As I've mentioned I can read music and understand the rhythm values when being asked to play from paper. Writing them down is another story. There is an option of recording myself in Logic and then creating a MIDI track from the audio, but I feel like I'm cheating myself with that. I'd like to be able to write it down first and then use the Logic software if I can't be bothered writing it down lol I guess it's just slowly working the values out and reading it off to make sure its right ?
  15. Hi, I'm having this problem with transcribing at the moment. I can work the whole track out and memorise the part I've been working on e.g. bass line. But for some reason I cannot get it down on paper. I can read music but writing it down is where I'm getting stuck on. I'd love to get all the work that I've been doing on the net so others can benefit from it but writing it down is what is killing me !
  16. They're both great, how can you compare? Both have a deep pocket, know their position in the band and just generally groove flawlessly. If anyone has made a playlist of both players on spotify I'd love to listen to it. Atm, I'm running out of things to listen to from these 2!
  17. This is off topic but have you heard their latest ? Amplified Soul. A mixture of genres!

  19.
Let me think about it. In the meantime I am going to offer my status s2 classic 4 string for sale. That way my wife won't complain about yet another bass acquisition if it's still available and I go for it. Cheers.
No problem !

  21.
Sigh. I am in Herts. Probably not a good idea to fork out this sort of cash on a relatively unknown custom instrument without trying it first. That said it looks and sounds amazing.
I can understand where you are coming from but this bass is amazing and I'm sure some other members on BC would highly recommend Robbies' work!
  22.
Where located? Thanks.
Birmingham mate.
