1. I have a Furch roundback acoustic/electric bass to trade for a bass cab, preferably around 500watt. I bought this for £500 secondhand in 94 (think it was made around 92) and havent used it much at all, its a really nice sounding acoustic and not tinny sounding like a lot of acoustic basses are, everyone who has played this loves the tone. Check out this link http://www.furch.cz/?stranka=story I bought it from Denmark street in London, this is a very collectable guitar which was one of the early original Furch models. Furch are a quality guitar manufacturer and are really big around europe, read the history page in the link, rated as quality similar to Martin acoustics e.t.c. but for much cheaper. It in great condition except for the laquer on the fron has started to crack, just cosmetic and easily repairable, plays nice for an acoustic bass, great sound amped up or not. I have a TC Electronic BH500 head and need a cab to go with it, any offers considered, I am in Wigan in nthe North of England, will courier the bass to the right person if the swop is good, expect the same in return, bass has a hard case, but its not the original, there was no case when i bought it. Welcome to come and try if you live near, this has got to be worth £400 pound as its so rare and is a very collectable bass. Check out the link for full info on Furch as most people have never heard of them, but they are great instruments. PM me with any offers Cheers! 2. You still got this, email me if you have, Cheers.
3. Hi Whats the size and weight of this, what connections has it? Speakon!
4. Just bought a MM Stingray 5 and wouldnt part with it for the world, awesome bass. Cant believe the tones you get just with the EQ on the bass itself, does wheigh a lot, its like carrying a log at times but worth the effort, plus you get fit as well What did you get in the end?
5. Right, may have something to do with I played it for donkeys years so it feels like an extra arm to me, but does play well and the Fenders I have played (I wait for the hail of abuse) I really dont like. Just my personal, I have played a few over the years but just dont like the feel, sorry guys My Musicman wipes the floor with anything else I have ever touched.
6. Thanks for the advice and info from everyone, i will keep it as it was the first bass i owned and couldnt let it go for peanuts. Just bought a EB musicman stingray 5 and thought i may sell to help fund the purchase, think i would regret it later though. Cheers
7. One of the best ways to develop a good core strength is the plank, looks simple but isnt easy to do correctly. Any shake while doing it STOP! this is a sign you are weak in the core and need to build up slowly. Try starting with this and when you can do 45 seconds with no wobble then incorporate side plank, do twice a day for a month before moving on. Unless you already have a good core, then you wont really have back problems unless you have other problems injury e.t.c. 8.
The previous posters are not being 'smartarses', they're just letting you know that they are unable to make the image larger as it gives an error message. I've been trying to find out about these Maya/el Maya basses, and you're right, there's not much info out there. It seems that the El Maya are a more premium line than the Maya, but neither is particularly valuable. A good condition mid 70s el Maya bass failed to sell on EBay recently at a starting bid of £350. I've heard they are quite good, but unfortunately that does not always translate to £££. Like Luke says, It's a little known brand, and for that sort of money, people could buy a nice Jap Fender, with no risk of depreciation. The reason I'm looking at these is that I'm after a cheap backup bass, and my daughter is called Maya, and would love her name on a bass! Please PM me if you're selling for a sensible price. Edit - actually scratch that, I've just noticed the gold hardware, which is not my bag. Also the neck-through is a bit of a turn off for me. Good luck though :-)
Thanks for the information its appreciated.
9. Check out Furch here, with a detailed history. They seem to be really rated as far as i can find out. http://furch.cz/?stranka=home Also no offence meant with Smartarses comment i was joking, see smileys. Pics are coming up fine on my computer if you click on the images they enlarge. I thought the "embiggen" comment was sarcasm, google embiggen for meaning and you will see what i mean. It means simply, to exagerate APPOLOGIES
10. Any ideas about the Furch, they are quality guitars.
11.
Me too.
Smartarses
12.
search in the "japcrap" thread- a couple of el maya's popped up in there. My guess £50-200 range
Gotta be worth more than that, Maya yes but not El Maya surely? You cant get these anymore! Still plays better than fender precision
13. Hi Has anyone got any accurate idea what the values for these two basses are worth, any other info woyuld be appreciated. Cant find anything about thew El Maya as they are very rare. I know its an original with serial number and not the cheap Maya version, now it was made in Japan and then the factory was destroyed in an earthquake shortly after i bought this 1982 could be a bit later i cant remember properly. The Furch bass is a roundback accoustic and was one of the very early models from Furch, made by a master guitar builder Mr Furch himself. I bought this around 1996, it has the original Furch emblem and its a type 413 and No 0399. It is electric with sliders, plays nice and from what i can find out is very rare? Any ideas anyone? Cheers Stephen
14.
Howdy Are you gigging at all? Welcome to the site.
Hi Not for a few years, do the odd thing with mates but considering getting something together again, my new bass has inspired me and its a waste not to play live.
15. Here is my El Maya bass which is a good 30yrs old, first bass i ever owned. Plays well and have never had any problems, except for trying to value it. Very rare example and have never found one on the web, from what i can gather there were Maya guitars which were the cheap copies and then the El Mayas which are great quality. Plays better than a precision in my opinion. There is a lot of misinformation on the web about El Mayas, least of all that the El Maya was the name used for export which isnt true.
16. How do i add photos. do i just attach file as a jpg? As you can see i have sussed it, here is my El Maya, MusicmanStingray 5 and Furch Accoustic
17. Hi my name is Steve and as you can guess i love Bass guitars, been playing about 30yrs but self taught and play mostly by ear, can read music very slowly and i have a basic knowledge music rudiments. Just bought my dream bass, a Musicman Stingray 5 string and love it. Also own a El Maya 1986 bass which i think is quite rare and it is really good quality all round. Also go a very early (I bought it in 1996 secondhand) Furch rounback accoustic/ electric bass, i have had real trouble trying to get information and the values of both of these so any ideas would be really appreciated. Have a Mc Gregor Basman by Mosfet 200 watt amp, which i have had as long as the El Maya (30yrs) This was my first amp and bass and are still going strong with no problems. Love all kinds of music from Blues, Soul, Reggae e.t.c anything that sound good i like it. Anyway i will explore the site more over the coming weeks.
