  1. Thank you. I'm pleased that the colour when it's not catching the light is quite similar to the stained wood colour it was originally. I want it to still retain a passing nod to its former self.
  2. Aha! Now we know where @Andyjr1515got the idea for his logo from. You need to venture into the build diaries to understand.
  3. All polished, as with the Longhorn, this'll be getting a ceramic coating and a buff before rebuild but here's an idea of the pearl in the paint. Outside in the shade. Outside in the sun. The side view, it's so skinny 😁
  4. This is where I'm at as well. I keep thinking of selling some but in all honesty I try to buy at the right price so I won't really lose any money when the time comes to sell, and I don't need the money at the moment so why sell? If in the future I need some cash I can sell some basses. Money in the bank has little interest to me but basses are nice. I take some money out of the bank of Lloyd's and put it into the bank of bass, when I sell I'll put it back into bank of Lloyd's. A money collection is dull but a bass collection is great.
  5. Thanks for the link @bloke_zero, it's got my mind working. I've got a nice blocked & bound maple left hand jazz neck and a right handed SX P bass (I'm a righty). Maybe a reverse necked J, P, MM hybrid. Hmm, P or MM scratchplate? πŸ€” A 'Jazzraysion'. πŸ™‚
  6. Here's the body polished, it will get a ceramic coating and another buff before being rebuilt to help keep the fingerprints and dust at bay. Onto the neck in a mo. The sparkle is really strong and bright but I just can't capture it in a photo, it needs to be moving to really sparkle.
  7. Right, enough people have quoted this picture. Now we need some answers. 😁 Was that a blank body that you've routed from the back? It looks lovely.
  8. If anyone is upgrading their standard Bronco bridge I'd be interested in buying their old standard one. I need a 17mm bridge for a project and having trouble finding one. Thanks πŸ™‚
  9. Thanks @Jabba_the_gut, you're right the Bronco Bridge is 17mm and it looks the part as well. Only problem is I can find one anywhere, it doesn't look like anyone sells them. It appears it's a pretty universally unliked bridge and gets changed for a standard BBOT for the four saddles rather than the Bronco's two, so you'd think there'd be an abundance of old ones for sale, but nothing. I'm happy to live with the two saddles as this is only a bit of fun, so if anyone knows of one for sale let me know please. πŸ™‚
  10. Thanks Andy πŸ‘
  11. Thanks, I'll look into them. πŸ‘
  12. I'm going to add this link here as it started as a new bass day thread, however it's sort of evolved into a restoration thread but doesn't really warrant it's own thread, and it's also appeared in a photo above.
  13. Every time I buy a new bass I promise myself I'll sell a couple of the cheaper ones to cover it. I'm rubbish at keeping promises.
  14. I'm not really sure what to do about the bridge yet. It had a generic replacement fender type bridge on it which was 19mm string spacing and was pulling the E and G string outside the fretboard towards the body end. I reckon 18mm should sort it as it'll be 3mm tighter but I can't find a suitable replacement, the only cheap 18mm ones are far too modern looking. I have a vintage fender style with the threaded saddles so it's possible I might be able to hook the strings in the thread slightly off to counter this, or cut new grooves to give me 18mm. The problem then might be that the entire saddle assembly will just slide across on the baseplate as it's not grooved like some are.
  15. Excited to see a Taiwanese Kay bass. πŸ˜‚ Go on then, a sneaky peak. 😁 I ended up putting a black line on the neck as well because the white binding got lost against the cream/beige paint. I've got a load of flatting and polishing to do tomorrow. This little lot are all ready for flatting and polishing tomorrow, then rebuild time.
  16. This is quite interesting as I've got a couple of P basses I picked up cheap over the years to use for projects/parts etc. I've been using this time off to finish a couple of projects that stalled and have been looking at the P basses wondering what to to with them, I don't really need another P. After reading this I might get a MM pickup and put it in the sweet spot on a P and just run it passive. πŸ€”
  17. It's all Rickenbackers and Precisions. πŸ™‚
  18. Well it is isn't it, but it sounds good. Using a binaural microphone I suppose. The OP is just stereo as well isn't it? I'm not sure quite what can be 8D about it.
  19. Here you go. Use decent headphones and close your eyes. πŸ™‚
  20. It does seem to go around the back from right to left and around the front the other way. It reminds me of that recording that did the rounds years ago of the Italian (?) barber. Anyone remember that?
  21. Are they prone to escaping? πŸ˜†
  22. I've just ordered some acrylic sheet to make a new scratchplate for this as the original one has yellowed really badly, and just looks bad against the freshness of mint green paint and silver sparkles. I've ordered clear, as per original and some mirrored and will probably make two and see which I like best. Now if it's a clear one then this next bit won't matter but if I go with mirrored then the original shape of the scratchplate seems wrong to me. If I just flip it upside down then it suits the shape of the bass better I think, but doesn't cover the screw holes. I didn't consider a change of colour beforehand so didn't fill the holes or anything. I could slightly reshape it to utilise the existing holes but am I overthinking this and should just go with the original design? The first picture is how it should be and the second flipped upside down.
  23. It always reminds me of Love, Honour & Obey.
  24. Oh fir Pete's sake yew pear! These puns make me sick, or more.
  25. No really any one image but just whole attitude of these sort of images. So how come I don't own a white P bass with a black scratchplate?
