1.
... and rock the room like a crazy thing.
Yes.... The riff to Peaches by the Stranglers was somewhat unexpected coming from a lady with a 100 year old bass with attached quiver.
2.
Thought I'd share this one for others to add a caption...
So, let me get this right... The neck is connected to the headbone, The upper bout's connected to the hipbone, The endpin's connected to the toebone...
3. A great day in great company. Many thanks to everyone for organising, and for sharing tons of knowledge. See you at the next one!
4.
...it's the one covered in Marvel comics !! ( experimental covering by TrickyAudio)
So that will be two Greenboy cabs covered in Marvel Comics - just so you can tell one from another at a glance - haha
5. I'm coming with Zeller 3/4, GK1001RB amp, GK Neo 410, fEARful 12/6, and Fearless F112
6. You'll have to stay back after class with your plank then Owen. I can tell you that I have not tried the Fearless either, so am looking forward to a back to back with the fEARful. I may sneak my Dano along for a quick plunk before I leave
7. Definitely set to come now. In addition to my previous, I'll be bringing a Tricky Audio Fearless F112 (wedge) . I can't answer any detailed questions about them.. I'm a bass player, not a scientist, but hopefully Guy will furnish me with some information sheets to bring along too.
8. I suffer with it in my toes, but a nurse told me that it was mainly de-hydration that caused the issue. I take no tablets, just plenty of water and I haven't had a bout for about 4 years despite being a GP's nightmare when it comes to being underheight and B.P. readings. Hope you get it under control.
9. After speaking to Guy from Tricky Audio last night - it may be possible for me to bring another greenboy cab as well, if anyone wants a nosy?
10. Very true... although the big minus is that it could easily turn into a 6 hour bass solo... and I dunno about you but 12 bars is enough for me! (24 if played by a virtuoso ) ((2 bars if played by me))
11. Sounds interesting - I need to shuffle some stuff around to make the date, but I could bring my crappy Zeller strung with Golden Slaps, GK 1001RBII, GK 4x10 neo cab and a fEARful 12/6 if I can work stuff out, and anyone is interested (and if the venue doesn't have a sound limiter!)
12. Hmmmmm... sounds quite interesting again. Maybe one to look at when a production set is available.
13. I'd just turn the 'clicky' right down and the volume up
14. How odd... I did search for polychromes to look for more info but nothing was returned, other than the mention in the ultrablack thread. Sorry for being rubbish at searching. Maybe not something for an old slapper like me then, where bows belong on Christmas presents and Yorkshire terriers Just curious though, but is that metal wound like a roundwound, or a monel type flatwound?
15. Daf, I see a reference by your good self to new prototype strings - Polychromes - in the ultrablack topic. Do you have any further information on this new top secret development that you are able to share?
16. Before I make the purchase, I can't help but wonder what might be considered the next string 'up' in tension terms - any ideas Daf? Dave
17. According to the TC manuals for the heads and cabs they are speakon only. I've not bought their stuff personally, but new cabs I have bought from other manufacturers have had a cable included.
18. Hi there! Sorry, I only just saw your post gypsyjazzer. If you pm me your address, I'll get them in the post next week. A small bit of feedback from me on my trial. I initially moved from Rotosound RS4000's to Silver slaps about 8 years ago. During that time, they behaved impeccably and I only ever had to change one string (the D) when the winding came off due to the string sinking into the bridge and sticking. My only 'niggle' (minor as it was) was that for fast drags they were, occasionally, too low tension and seemed to not be in the rihght place at the right time. Early this year, they were starting to sound a bit 'dull' so thought I'd try something different and went for some of the synthetic guts, having read many glowing reviews. Well, I gave up after a couple of weeks - even lower tension, no sustain and they just didn't suit my playing style (for what it is) at all. So.. back to Innovations and a known product. Unable to get Silver Slaps, I got Golden Slaps. They are supposed to be the same thing, other than colour, right? I've had the most ludicrous battle with string buzzes and rattles ever since, and, in an effort to get rid of it, I've had the fingerboard planed, a new nut, and various other jobs done, but to no avail. I've no idea why I should have suddenly have these problems, which didn't occur with the silver slaps, but I thought higher tension strings might cure it, so it was great to see trial sets being offered by Daf and Innovation and I thank them for this very unique, and very cost-saving, opportunity. Anyhow.. the Super Silvers then. Firstly, they aren't really that much higher tension than the Slaps - not that my ham fisted approach can tell! Certainly, swapping them over one at a time and having mixed sets on during that process, there wasn't much discernable difference. It's all subjective, of course, but they do seem to have a sharper initial 'bite' into a note. As with the Silver Slaps, they are nicely matched across the set with regards to tone and volume per string. I can't say that they are much different, tonally, to the Silver Slaps - both sets show similar characteristics played either pizz or being slapped. I can't comment on arco as I don't possess a bow. As with the Silver Slaps, they have good sustain and maybe a slightly longer decay, which suits me fine. Despite saying there isn't much difference in tension between the Silver/Golden Slaps and the Super Silvers, there is certainly enough to eliminate almost all the rattles, clanks and buzzes I've been suffering from, so that is a massive win from my perspective. Second win is that the strings are certainly more responsive and fast drags are so much more controllable with the tauter strings (particularly the E) Will definitely be ordering some as soon as payday arrives - unless Innovation need any longevity testing doing? Say, 8 years? Again, thank you Daf and Innovation, and to Fellrunner for the prompt dispatch - much appreciated
19. I have the 1001RBII and GK 410 neo cab. The cab is not too heavy - I can cart it quite easily on my own. It also has the bi-amp feature, so if you want to use that it's the only option. It's also a regular 'box' so no strange shapes to deal with. They come in 4 and 8 ohm versions
20. I may take up that offer in the future Daf. As you may have deduced, I am not unhappy with the Slaps - I'd just prefer a little more tension on the E string, so I'm not disappointed with my purchase, especially as I need new strings on pronto.
21. Thanks Daf, I've ordered a new set of slaps to be sure. I'll try supers next (assuming I'm still able to play if these last another 8 years!).
22. I presume Daf will know the definitive answer, but does anyone know if the Super Silver strings are the same gauge as the Silver/Golden slaps? After 8 years(ish) of Silver Slap action, I would like something with a bit more tension but I like the string gauge of the Slaps (plus, if they are the same, it will save me some bridge/nut work)
